Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return V2

Kairi followed Sora's gaze to the pillow. "You don't mind?" she asked then, thinking of how if she did what he mentioned, then he would be sitting up. He'd slept like that before, she knew, but still. Kairi was concerned for Sora's comfort as well; that part of the relationship wasn't one-sided.

 

Sora looked back over at Kairi, his eyes finding hers immediately. "Not at all," he assured her. He could have a stiff neck in the morning, but in his opinion, being near Kairi was worth it. It wasn't every night he got a chance to be this close to her, and he was going to enjoy it by keeping her close.

 

"Okay," Kairi said, nodding slightly once she met Sora's eyes again. If he didn't mind, then she would do what he suggested. She was beginning to feel more tired as they continued talking, so resting would be nice.

 

Sora offered Kairi a soft smile before he looked back over at the pillow, using his free hand to set in his lap for Kairi to rest her head upon. He also gave her a gentle squeeze before he took his arm off her shoulders, resting it on the back of the couch instead.

 

Kairi felt her small smile return as she readjusted on the couch, bringing her legs up to the cushions and laying them out before resting her head on the pillow Sora grabbed. She lay on her side, but she turned her head to look up at the boy that was now behind her. Her small smile softened as she looked at him, silently thanking him for being so good to her.

 

Sora's soft smile reappeared on his lips when he saw Kairi looking back up at him, the brunet able to see that she felt at peace. He lowered his hand off the back of the couch and lightly set it on her arm, his fingers running over the fabric of her shirt. "Sweet dreams," he said softly, keeping his bright blue eyes on the girl he loved.

 

Kairi's eyes lingered on Sora's a moment longer before she turned her head, letting them fall closed. "Sweet dreams," she whispered to him in return, taking comfort in his touch and presence. She released a soft breath, welcoming sleep.

 

Sora continued stroking Kairi's arm, his eyes shutting halfway as he gazed at her. He was so lucky, to be able to call her his own. After everything they had gone through, they still loved each other. And she still accepted him, even if he had changed a lot during the past few months. The thought made Sora smile faintly, the brunet shutting his eyes completely and leaning his head against the back of the couch.

 

Kairi's small smile faded as the minutes went by, sleep coming to her easier with Sora's light gesture and gentle presence, as well as the peace and quiet of the living room. She let out a soft breath before she went under, slipping into unconsciousness.

 

Sora's motion came to a stop when he heard Kairi's even breathing, the boy aware that she was now asleep. And now that she was taken care of, it was time for him to sleep as well. He kept his hand on Kairi's arm but turned his head slightly against the back of the couch, falling asleep a few minutes later.

 

The next day...

Roxas groggily stared at the television screen, which had been playing for a little while now. He'd woken up a few minutes ago, but he was still sleepy-eyed. He had one arm around Namine now instead of just holding her hand, somehow knowing it would be more comfortable for her.

Kairi was still asleep, but she was slowly coming out of it. Her slumber had been peaceful and dreamless, and she could only pin that on Sora's presence being nearby the whole night. She moved her head a little as she started to hear mumbling, not knowing yet that it was coming from the television.

 

Sora, not out of the habit of waking up early in the morning, was the first one of his friends to wake up. He had sat in the silence for a little while, running his fingers over Kairi's arm, before he found the remote on the arm of the couch beside him. He had turned it on very softly and put it on sports, nothing better on at that time in the morning.

 

Roxas lifted one hand off of Namine's arm, the other still wrapped around her shoulders. He rubbed at his eyes to try and fully wake up, knowing that Sora was also up with him. He muttered a "hey" when he first woke up, but other than that, he had been watching tv, or checking on Namine.

The noises around Kairi got a little louder as she came out of her slumber, the girl taking in a breath before finally opening her eyes. Things were bright at first, due to the sunlight coming through the windows, but after her eyes adjusted, the first thing she focused on was the sports on the television screen.

 

Sora still had his hand on Kairi's arm, the brunet comfortable the way he was. Well, comfortable because Kairi was close to him and she had to be comfy the way that she was laying. Sora himself was a little stiff, but it wasn't anything major.

Namine slept soundly, her head on Roxas's shoulder as she remained unconscious. She was unaware that the television was on, though she was slightly aware that Roxas was holding her a lot more closely now than he had when she fell asleep last night.

 

Kairi moved a hand from its place on the pillow to rub her eyes, the girl sighing softly. Her sleep hadn't been all that bad last night; it was actually pretty good. She was comfortable all night.

 

Sora looked down at the sigh, seeing that Kairi appeared to be waking up. He smiled weakly, running his hand over her arm a few times before he stopped the gesture, something on the television capturing his attention.

 

Kairi felt the gentle touch, which made her lower her hand back down to the pillow beside her face. She turned her head a little to glance over her shoulder at the source, but she already knew who it was. Sora, of course. Seeing him brought a small smile to her face, though she was still a little sleepy.

 

Sora blinked, keeping his eyes on the screen for a few seconds to see an excellent slam dunk in basketball. However, he felt a soft gaze on him, which naturally drew his attention away from the game. He looked down once again, a soft smile appearing on his at the sight of the girl who had just woken up.

 

"Hi," Kairi said softly, her eyes meeting Sora's. He didn't look as tired as she felt, so she figured he must have been up for quite some time. She began to wonder if anybody else was awake as well...

 

"Hi," Sora replied, his tone of voice soft as well. "Sleep alright?" She appeared pretty sleepy right now, and though it was adorable to see her that way, he wondered if she was so groggy because she hadn't slept well. He hoped that wasn't the case, though.
