Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return V2

Nathaniel felt the life from him draining, his dragon form starting to disappear. He slowly started to return to his human form, and once he was a boy once again, the beam of Light was directed right to his heart. He cried out in pain, the air around him starting to blur. He was dying.

 

Sora stayed where he was, though he saw Nathaniel change into his human form. He had nothing to say to the boy; he just wanted him dead. And thanks to the Light that was coming out of his Keyblade, he was about to make that a reality.

 

Nathaniel's cries finally ended, the Light piercing the Darkness in his heart until there was nothing left for it to inflict damage upon. The boy no longer stayed up on his knees, instead falling to the ground on his stomach.

 

Sora lowered the blade, light no longer pouring from its tip. Nathaniel was a few yards away, but Sora didn't move any closer. He had spoken to Nathaniel last time when he had been dying, but now he had nothing that he wanted to say. Or hear.

 

Nathaniel's body faded, pyreflies forming in his place. The Prince's power was within the dark-colored orbs, which floated by Sora and in the direction of Smith.

 

Sora turned his head and body to look at the orbs, the teen arching a brow when he saw them float to Smith. Wasn't that what had happened with Ansem's pyreflies? He wasn't entirely sure; he hadn't been paying much attention to that at the time.

Smith continued to fight Roxas, the man away from the teen when he felt the pyreflies come close to him. He smirked very faintly and absorbed them, feeling the power of the defeated prince flowing through his veins.

 

Riku saw how Smith absorbed the orbs, just like he had done earlier when Riku defeated Ansem. He arched an eyebrow in curiosity and suspicion. What was going on here?

Roxas was thankful for the distraction, trying to catch his breath. Those things again? They had come around earlier, and Smith seemed to absorb them just like he did now. Ever since then, he had been slowly beating Roxas, and the blond wasn't so sure what that meant. Whatever those things were, they were doing something to make this an unbalanced fight.

 

Smith exhaled a breath through his nose, just looking at Roxas instead of attacking. They had been at this for a while now, and slowly but surely, Smith had gained the advantage he had been seeking from the beginning. With this power inside of him, he knew that his original goal would be achieved, even if it cost the lives of the two people he had been working with.

 

Roxas continued to hold Oathkeeper in his grasp, even if his shoulder was injured and he could feel blood slowly trickling down his arm. That was only one of the major hits he took from Smith, the other being in his side. He glared at Smith now, blue eyes piercing and eyebrows furrowed in fury as he breathed heavily.

 

"It seems my other two comrades failed," Smith said to Roxas, the man holding his gunblade loosely by his side as he looked to the teen. He knew that he was giving Roxas the chance to catch his breath now, which would affect the fight once it started up again. However, Smith didn't plan on letting it be a fight to the death; when the opportune moment came, he would make his escape.

 

"So what?" Roxas spat, gulping in some more air. "That doesn't make any difference. That only means you're the last one alive, which means you'll be the last to die." If he had any say in it, Smith would definitely fail as well. Roxas had been trying his hardest to beat Smith down, and things had been going well until Riku killed off his enemy. Things had slowly gotten worse since then, but Smith didn't even show any signs of pain or struggle; only Roxas did.

 

"Do you know why I'm still alive and they're not, Roxas?" Smith asked, not bothering to come up with a harsh remark to Roxas's words. The Nobody didn't know what he was talking about, but Smith wouldn't correct him; this plan would succeed as long as he didn't allow them to know of his thoughts and let them stop him.

 

Roxas didn't say anything, instead tightening his grip on Oathkeeper and Oblivion, especially since his shoulder was aching as he held the silver Keyblade. Obviously he didn't know anything. He didn't know anything about the Realm of Darkness, even if DiZ did say he resided here. He wasn't sure how, but the emotions in his heart were stirring anyway. Roxas simply glared at Smith, waiting for him to tell him why Nathaniel and the person that strangely resembled his past Superior failed.

 

"Because I'm stronger than they are," Smith said, answering the question that Roxas hadn't spoken aloud. "They both held a lot of darkness in their hearts, but in the end, they proved to be too weak." Ever since they started working together, Smith had known that the two of them would die, which was why he had been working for his own sake this whole time. Of course, Smith wasn't going to let Roxas know the specifics of that, though he was going to say more to the Nobody.

 

Too weak, Roxas thought, wanting to roll his eyes. They certainly hadn't appeared weak to him. If that was weak to Smith, then Roxas felt he was in for something much darker than what he had already faced. The thought made him grind his teeth together, his adrenaline pumping through his viens.

Riku heard the words spoken, his free hand now in a fist. Whatever this guy was about, he wasn't exactly thrilled to hear him speak that way. Ansem definitely hadn't been weak to him, and Nathaniel seemed like a challenge for even Sora. This guy must have thought himself superior to the other two, which could only end badly.

 

Weak? Sora wanted to scoff at that, though he forced himself to stay silent. Nathaniel had almost succeeded in killing him, and Smith considered that weak? Either Smith was a fool, or he was as strong as he was implying he was. Unfortunately, Sora knew from experience that Smith was no fool.

"Their powers were limited to those in the battlefield," Smith continued, looking at Roxas as he spoke the words. "Mine, though, are much more influential. Not only can I defeat you in battle, but I can also influence things--no, people, in the Realm of Light. Even when I'm trapped here." He smirked slightly, thinking of the person he had been secretly haunting for the past week or so.

 

Roxas flexed his grip on the hilts of his blades, his eyes narrowing slightly at the words. He wasn't going to let Smith defeat him. He hadn't let him in the past, and he wasn't going to let him do so now. But when Smith talked about the other Realm, and emphasized on "people", Roxas felt somewhat affected. What people? He wanted to ask the question, but was afraid of the answer.

 

Smith turned his head slightly, seeing that Roxas was remaining silent. "Aren't you wondering how I affect people, Roxas?" he asked, though that wasn't the only question that left his lips. "Or who?" He wasn't sure if the Nobody would have caught onto this or not, but whether he already knew the truth or not, Smith would say it. First, though, he wanted Roxas to humor him.

 

Roxas was getting the feeling that he knew who exactly Smith was talking about, and it made him feel uneasy and angry. "...Shut up," he growled lowly, his eyes hard. He already knew how Smith affected people; he was awful and degrading, got inside people's heads. Roxas also knew what else he did, but he tried to block that thought, the memory too much to think about right now.

 

Smith clenched his free hand in a fist, seeing that Roxas wasn't going to humor him. What a shame. Oh well, he would just have to tease him a little more. "You already know, don't you?" he asked, arching a brow. "In the past week, you should have noticed a difference in her. Tiredness, weakness, dizziness..." he trailed off, keeping his eyes on Roxas so that he could get some confirmation that he knew of the girl he was referring to.
