Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return V2

"Namine! You there?" Roxas called from outside the door, knocking urgently again. He hoped she was, but he couldn't hear anything from where he was outside. He didn't know what he would do if Namine was in Smith's hands again.

 

Namine heard the voice as well as the banging, which made her move to the door more quickly. She stood on her toes and looked through the eye-piece in the door, seeing that it was Roxas. Roxas? He was home? Namine undid the deadbolt and then set a hand on the knob, turning the knob and pulling the door open. "Roxas?"

 

Roxas lowered his hand when the door opened, a sigh of relief escaping his lips when he saw Namine. "Thank goodness," he breathed, leaning forward and putting his hands on his knees as he tried to catch his breath. She was alright.

 

Namine tilted her head slightly, confused as she looked at Roxas, who was catching his breath. She felt like she wanted to ask him a question, like why he seemed so worked up, but she knew that he couldn't answer because of his breathlessness, so she didn't bother asking.

 

Now that his adrenaline was beginning to wind down, Roxas's injuries became more apparent to him. As he caught his breath he winced at the pain in his shoulder, as well as his side. He looked down at the blood on his arm, knowing he would have to clean that up. Why didn't I use a potion? he mentally scolded himself, gulping in air as he lifted his eyes to Namine. Roxas could calm down a little now, since Namine was safe and sound.

 

"...What's going on?" Namine finally asked, concern in her eyes. It looks like Roxas had just sprinted to her house, though she didn't understand what the rush was. She was glad to see him back, but why had he ran straight to her house? And why did he seem so stressed?

 

"It was a trap," Roxas said, taking in another breath as he looked up at Namine. He was talking about the Realm of Darkness, but he was sure she would ask further questions. Once he caught his breath, he would answer them.

 

Namine immediately stiffened, her eyes widening at Roxas's simple words. "W-what?" she asked, stuttering without meaning to. The stutter had nothing to do with the illness she had been feeling the past few days; it had to do with surprise at what Roxas said.

 

Roxas pushed himself up, standing up straight as he released one more heavy breath. "Yeah. I'll explain, but first I gotta call Sora," he said, his eyes staying on Namine. She was a sight for sore eyes, that was for sure. He had been so worried.

 

Namine nodded slightly, not questioning why he would need to call Sora. "Do you need to use my phone?" she asked, aware that Roxas probably didn't have his cell phone on him. But then again, Sora probably didn't have his phone on him, either.

 

Roxas naturally felt his back pockets and sighed. "Ugh. He probably doesn't have his phone either," he acknowledged, his eyes moving to the side. If that was the case, then Roxas would have to wait a few more minutes to make sure Sora got to Kairi's.

 

Namine kept her head tilted slightly, concern in her eyes as she gazed at Roxas. Something was very wrong here, other than the whole mission being a trap. "Do you want to come in?" she asked, stepping to the side a little bit in case he said yes.

 

Roxas's eyes found Namine again and he nodded, stepping into the house and walking a couple feet in so Namine could shut the door. "Lock the door," he said without thought, lifting a hand to rub the back of his neck. He couldn't take any chances.

 

Though Namine didn't know why Roxas told her to lock the door, she did it anyway, closing the door and then turning the deadbolt. He wasn't telling her much, and that only made her more concerned. She was so concerned that she actually felt a little dizzy. What was wrong?

 

Roxas lowered his sight to the floor as he rubbed his sore neck, exhaling a breath. What a mess, he thought. How could he explain this to her? He was already freaking Namine out; he could see that. He wondered if he should wait until everyone was together or tell her himself. She had a right to know, after all Smith had done to her...

 

To counter her dizziness, Namine leaned her back against the door, her gaze falling to the ground at the tense silence that hung in the air. She didn't want to pester Roxas, but he was scaring her a little by not telling her anything. Why wasn't he saying anything?

 

Roxas turned around to face Namine at the thought, remembering what Smith said about causing her dizziness. His arm came down to his side as he stared at her, furrowing his eyebrows in concern. "How're you feeling?" he asked her, his tone showing both his worry for her and how serious he was. This was important.

 

Namine looked up at Roxas, confusion in her eyes. "How do I feel?" she repeated, not understanding exactly what he meant by the question. She felt nervous, afraid, and especially confused. Shouldn't she be the one asking questions?

 

Roxas nodded. He wanted Namine to tell him the truth about how she was feeling physically, not wanting her to hide it from him any longer. She had done that for a week... The week Smith was coming back and gaining power.

 

Namine lowered her gaze away from Roxas's, something she always did when she wasn't completely honest with him. "Fine," she said, lying a little. She felt sort of dizzy, though it was nothing nearly as bad as what she had felt earlier that day.
