"The truth, Namine," Roxas said, his tone serious but soft. He could tell she wasn't being honest; she never held eye-contact when she lied. "Please." If she was still feeling dizzy then Smith was still messing with her, which meant he was still on the move. It was important that he find out. Once he did, he'd ask her to use her phone and call Sora. Of course, he wouldn't let her leave his sight.

 

Namine looked back up at Roxas, blushing a little when he caught her in her lie. "I feel a little dizzy," she confessed softly. "It's no big deal, though." She had been dealing with that along with a few other things for the past few week, so she was used to it. It wasn't pleasant, but she was trying not to let it get to her.

 

Roxas closed his eyes and took in a breath to calm himself at Namine's answer. "Yes it is," he said, his hands balling into loose fists. She had no idea. He would explain, but first he needed to call Sora. He should have been at Kairi's by now.

 

Namine blinked, surprised at the answer. "I've been sick before," she said softly, trying to reassure him that she just had a cold. "This isn't anything different." At least, that was what she wanted to believe. But she had been fine otherwise, except for some random fatigue and sleepiness. That was besides the point, though; she was trying to assure Roxas that she was okay, not worry him more.

 

"Yes it is, Namine," Roxas said as he looked up at her. His voice was more stern as he spoke to her, trying to get through to her that it really was something serious. He knew that Namine was just trying to settle his worries, but that wasn't the case here. He wouldn't stop worrying until Smith was found and killed.

 

Namine furrowed her brows slightly, hearing how serious Roxas was. He honestly believed this was something more than a cold, even though he just found out that she was sick? "What do you mean?" she finally asked, confusion coming through in her voice.

 

Roxas sighed softly and rubbed his forehead, knowing he was getting off track here. "I'll explain, but I really have to call Sora," he said once more. "Where's your phone?" He lifted his eyes back to her, wondering where she kept her cell so he could get a hold of his best friend.

 

Namine brought herself off the door, her head turned towards the living room. "It's in the living room, by the couch." She wasn't sure if she was supposed to go get it, or if Roxas was going to go to it before she could. She also wondered if she should be in the room when he made the call, or if he needed privacy.

 

Roxas nodded once and lowered his hand back to down to his side. "Stay with me, okay?" he requested. He didn't want to let Namine out of his sight in fear of Smith showing up. If that happened, he wanted Namine next to him, and the only way to make sure of that was for her to stay by his side.

 

Namine looked at Roxas again, and she was sure that the confusion was back in her eyes. Of course, it had really never left, either. "Okay," she said immediately, knowing that now wasn't the time for her to ask the questions that she was thinking over.

 

When Roxas heard Namine's answer, he turned around and headed for the living room, trusting that she would be right behind him. He noticed the look in her eyes; it was hard to miss. But he really would tell her what was going on. He just had to let Sora know that Namine was okay first.

 

Namine looked down at the ground as she followed Roxas, bringing up a hand and tucking back a strand of hair without thought. As soon as Roxas was done with this phone call, she really hoped he would give her some answers.

 

Roxas went straight for the couch as soon as he was in the living room, seeing Namine's phone on the coffee table set in front of the furniture. He bent down and grabbed it, starting to dial Kairi's number since the possibility of Sora having his phone on him was slim to none. He brought the phone to his ear as he stood next to the coffee table, hearing the ring on the other line.

Kairi turned at the sound of her phone, still standing in her entrance hall now that Sora and Riku had shown up. She was a little confused, neither of the boys really telling her what was going on and why they were back so soon.

 

Namine sat down on the couch, looking down at the ground once she was seated. She had to stop letting these questions nag her; she was getting dizzier thinking about them. For now, she just had to be patient and wait.

Sora looked from Kairi to Riku before he started towards the living room, trusting Riku to keep an eye on Kairi while he answered that call. It was Kairi's house phone, which was hardly ever used and sat on an endtable in the living room. He didn't care about that, though, when he bent over slightly and picked it up, putting it to his ear. "Roxas?"

 

"Yeah, it's me," Roxas answered immediately, confirming Sora's obvious suspicions. "Namine's fine. I'm guessing you're with Kairi?" He looked to Namine when he said her name, glad to see her sitting down since Smith was making her so dizzy. That angered him, but he focused on the conversation he was having for now.

Kairi looked to Riku instantly, her eyes showing the millions of questions she was wanting to ask. What was going on? Why wouldn't either of them tell her what was going on? Why were they so out of breath when they got here? And why did they look so stressed?

Riku saw Kairi's expression but didn't say anything. Instead he gave her a look that said, Just be patient. Things would clear up momentarily.

 

"Yeah," Sora confirmed, nodding even though Roxas couldn't see him. "She's fine, and there's nothing suspicious here at all." No traces of darkness, no signs of anybody being near her house...nothing. It was eerie how normal things were. Sora didn't want to drop his guard, and he wasn't, but things appeared very peaceful to him.

 

"Good. Everything looks fine here too," Roxas said into the phone, his eyes still resting on his girlfriend. "The only thing that's wrong is that Namine's dizzy. That pretty much proves that he wasn't lying about what he said." Of course he was talking about Smith, and of course Roxas never wanted to believe him. But it was obvious, even to him, that Smith wouldn't lie about something so cruel. He enjoyed it far too much.

 

Namine looked up at Roxas beside her, that confusion still in her eyes. Who was he talking about, and what wasn't he lying about? She really wanted to know what was going on now, since this seemed more connected to her than she was comfortable with.

"That's not good," Sora said, frowning deeply. He had a feeling that Smith was telling the truth, but hearing Roxas confirm it made him upset. "Have you told her anything yet?" Roxas had gotten to Namine's before Sora and Riku made it to Kairi's, so maybe he had used that time to tell her what was going on.

 

"I only told her that it was a set up," Roxas said, his eyes leaving Namine and moving to the coffee table he was standing next to. He wondered if Sora and Riku told Kairi anything yet, but he knew that they must have just gotten there. That wouldn't have been enough time.

 

Sora looked down at the ground, his frown staying present on his lips when he heard Roxas's answer. "...Maybe you should be the one to tell her," he suggested. Smith had made a big difference to Namine, so it would be best for Roxas to be the one to break the news. "You want to meet here in an hour?" During that time, he and Riku would have a talk with Kairi, though he was sure it wouldn't be as heavy as Roxas's and Namine's.
