Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return V2

Roxas felt his worry for Namine grow at the look on her face, but he knew he had to keep going. "...He's been getting inside your head, but not your mind. He's tried...talking to you before, but he said you've been blocking him out," he elaborated once more. He was grateful for that, because if Namine had heard his voice even once... Roxas wasn't sure what he would do, but he knew she wouldn't react well to it.

 

Namine looked at Roxas, though she wasn't really seeing him as his words echoed in her mind. Smith got inside her head. He tried talking to her, but she didn't allow herself to hear him. But he was there, nevertheless, trying to get to her. It was a scary thought, and all this being thrown at her made her forget to breathe for a few seconds.

 

Roxas's eyes stayed on Namine, glued to her as he saw her expression change. He felt terrible putting this on her, but he needed to tell her what was going on. She had a right to know, even if knowing was scarier.

 

Namine moved her hand from the side of her head to her forehead without thought, lowering her gaze when her hand hid her eyes. She felt the lack of oxygen in her lungs and she forced herself to take in a breath, though it wasn't refreshing to her. The fact that Smith was alive wasn't comforting, but knowing that he got inside her head, and still was getting inside her head, was just plain awful.

 

"...He left the Realm of Darkness before I could stop him, Namine," Roxas said, looking at her with pained eyes. "I'm sorry... But we're going to catch him, okay? He's not gonna get away with this." He vowed on it as he spoke it, knowing that he had to protect her. He had to, because if he let Smith reach her... Roxas didn't want to think about it, but he knew it wasn't going to happen ever again.

 

Namine shut her eyes, the hand on her forehead still covering them. Smith was in their realm...which explained why Roxas had appeared so frantic when he came to her doorstep. He thought Smith had gotten to her already. She felt herself pale a little at the idea, remembering everything that had happened the last time Smith had gotten a hold of her.

 

Roxas kept his hands clasped, the boy ducking his head and leaning forward a little to try and get a look at Namine's face. She had been silent for some time, but he guessed she was just trying to take all this in. He understood; he was still trying to accept it as well.

 

Namine swallowed hard at the memories, not wanting them to surface again. She wished that she could forget all about that, but things didn't work out that easily. I can't believe all this is being brought up again. How is he even managing to affect me? I thought I was over this...or was I just lying to myself? She honestly didn't know the answers to those questions, and that scared her.

 

Roxas unclasped his hands, moving one to rest on Namine's knee. "...Nam?" he called softly. "Talk to me, baby." He wasn't surprised as to why he was being so calm now; he was putting Namine before himself, the way it was supposed to be. He was sure she wasn't alright, since Smith was worse than Jeff on some levels. But Roxas wanted to be there for her and let her know that she could talk to him, even about this.

 

Namine exhaled a shaky breath, lowering her hand from her forehead and opening her eyes. She saw Roxas looking at her, with his bent over slightly so he could see her lowered face. She lifted it up a little, her watery eyes meeting his ocean-blue orbs. This isn't happening...He can't be back...But the look in Roxas's eyes proved that the opposite was true; it was happening, and he was back.

 

Roxas's eyes softened at the sight of Namine's, the boy squeezing the knee his hand was on lightly. He hated seeing her so scared, but he and Sora and Riku were going to take care of this. He was going to protect her at all costs.

 

"I'm scared," Namine whispered without thought, her eyes staying on Roxas when she spoke the words. She was sure that the feeling showed in her eyes, along with other things. However, she would have to focus on her other thoughts and concerns later; she was too frightened to think straight about them.

 

"I know," Roxas replied automatically, having expected her to say something like that. It was written all over Namine's face. "I'm scared too. But we're gonna get him, okay? You're gonna be fine, I promise." He wasn't going to let anything happen to her. He had to keep that promise.

 

Namine nodded faintly, blinking and allowing one tear to slide down her cheek. She brought up a hand and wiped at it immediately, her eyes lowering to the ground in slight embarrassment. This situation was bigger than her fears; Smith was a real threat, to everyone. She couldn't let her friends focus on her when bigger things were going on.

 

Roxas kept his hand on Namine's knee, lightly squeezing it again. Seeing her so scared really got to him, and he knew he had to use that as more motivation; he couldn't let Smith get far with this.

 

Namine looked back up at Roxas when she felt him squeeze her knee, her eyes wandering up to his face. But before she saw his eyes, she noticed something on his arm. She shifted her gaze to that, her eyes widening faintly when she saw the blood. "Your arm..." He was hurt.

 

Roxas looked down when Namine spoke of his injury, seeing the blood that went all the way up his arm and disappeared under his sleeve. "Oh..." He'd forgotten about his shoulder because he was so focused on her, and it had been a good distraction. Now that she mentioned it, though, he could feel it aching.

 

Namine rose to her feet, not rushing because of a little bit of lingering dizziness. "I can go get some stuff to clean that up," she offered, turning her head towards the hall where the bathroom was. She didn't know exactly what the injury was or how it needed to be treated, but she would do what she could to help.

 

Roxas brought his hand back to his own knee when Namine stood up, the boy looking up at her from his spot on the edge of the coffee table. "You don't have to. It's okay," he said, thinking of her first. She was terrified; he could see that. She didn't need to be tending to him...

 

Namine tilted her head to the side in concern, her eyes meeting Roxas's. "Are you sure?" she asked, her eyes wandering to the blood before they went back to Roxas's face. It looked sort of bad...
