Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return V2

Roxas sighed softly, at both the sight of the injury and the pain. He lifted his hands to the top of his black tank, grabbing the pendant and starting to unzip it. The only way for him to reach the wound was to take it off, and then hopefully wrap it up.

 

Namine politely looked away, her gaze falling back to the ground when she saw Roxas taking off his shirt. If he needed to take off the shirt to get to the wound, then surely he wouldn't be able to take care of the injury himself. Namine would help the best that she could, though she wasn't used to wrapping or treating injuries.

 

Roxas unzipped his shirt all the way and carefully took it off, biting his lip to keep himself from releasing any sound of pain. Once it was off, he could clearly see his shoulder, and just how deep Smith's gunblade had come down on him. Surely the move had been used to get rid of one of Roxas's sword arms. Roxas fought through the pain at the time, and he was going to do the same, even after this was cleaned up.

 

Out of the corner of her eye, Namine noticed that Roxas had become still, which probably meant that he had taken off his shirt. She lifted her gaze back to him, her eyes going to his arm. It looked pretty bad, and seeing it made her bit her lip lightly. After a few seconds, though, she lifted her gaze to Roxas, silently asking if she needed to be the one to clean it or not.

 

Roxas had one hand on the edge of his shoulder, though he didn't know why. It didn't help with the pain, but that was also why he couldn't let go. He frowned at the wound, and then winced when it throbbed once more. He felt a gaze on him and fought off his pain to look at Namine.

 

Namine looked into Roxas's eyes for a second before she repositioned herself, sitting on the edge of the couch and leaning forward. She brought her left hand forward and lightly gripped Roxas's wrist, doing that without thought. She lightly brought up her other hand with the rag and started wiping at the bottom of the trail of blood, her eyes staying on that as she remained gentle.

 

Roxas kept his right hand where it was, not moving as Namine wiped off his blood. He hated that she had to do that, and he wished he could do this himself that way she wouldn't have to see the wound and blood, but he couldn't. Not very well, at least.

 

Namine continued to work her way up Roxas's arm, aware that she wasn't near his wound yet. However, that didn't affect her gentleness; she didn't know how badly Roxas was hurting. She cleaned the trail of blood up until the point where she reached Roxas's hand, which was blocking at area that she needed to clean. She lifted her gaze to him at that point, figuring that he was probably holding his upper arm because of pain.

 

Roxas moved his gaze from his arm to Namine when she stopped, and he knew what she was silently asking of him. He looked back down at his arm and shoulder as he moved his hand back, curling it into a fist as it came back to his side. His shoulder was sending small shocks of pain down his arm, but he wasn't about to tell Namine that; that would only make things worse.

 

Namine moved her left hand, lightly gripping Roxas's arm above his elbow. She could feel her hand resting on some of his muscles, but she didn't think about that, starting to wipe at the blood again. There was more of it up here, and seeing it made her bite her lip once again. She hated seeing Roxas hurting, so she was going to do everything she could to help him.

 

Roxas lifted his eyes from his arm to Namine now that she was closer, just simply gazing at her. Sometimes he wondered what he would do without her. Probably nothing, since the thought of her no longer being with him hurt. But he knew he could have caused that to happen with the way he treated her in the past. He wished he could take that back, since she was still so gentle with him, especially now. But Roxas knew that something in him had changed, and he wasn't the same person as before. But he could try, for her.

 

Namine moved closer to the edge of the couch, needing to be a little closer to Roxas to see his wound. When she saw just how awful it was, she bit down on her lip harder. Ouch, she thought, stopping her treatment for one second. However, she knew that stopping didn't help Roxas, so she started again, wiping closer to the wound but not touching it. She would hate spraying it with disinfectant and causing Roxas a little more pain, but she knew that it was necessary.

 

Roxas tensed at how close Namine was to the gash in his shoulder, the boy turning his gaze from her and glancing down at where she was wiping. Actually, no, he didn't want to watch. He turned his gaze back in front of him, trying to forget about how nervous he was of the pain.

 

Namine wiped around the wound, trying to keep a little bit of distance from it so that she wouldn't hurt Roxas. When she was finished, she pulled the cloth back, her eyes going to the bloody rag. I need to clean that so I can use it after the disinfectant, she thought, looking at it. "I'll be right back," she said softly, her hand coming off Roxas's arm as she rose to her feet.

 

"'Kay," Roxas said softly, nodding a little as he lowered his eyes to the ground underneath his feet. Ow, he thought, another surge of pain starting at his shoulder and going through his arm. Smith is going to pay for this. Roxas remembered what happened the last time they fought, and how he was thrown into the wall. That had been bad, but since Roxas was conscious to his pain this time, he wasn't going to let the man get away with it. Just like last time.

 

Namine walked out of the living room and into the hall, turning into the bathroom. She turned on a light and then the faucet, running warm water over the rag. Good thing seeing blood doesn't make me sick to my stomach, she thought, cleaning the washcloth. She sighed softly at the thought, squeezing the rag a little bit and cleaning it with the water.

 

Roxas kept his right hand balled into a fist, regretting not taking the time to use a potion when he was in the Realm of Darkness. It would have saved him the trouble for this, as well as Namine. Warmth always invaded him whenever she took care of him, but he still felt bad about it. He had a feeling it was because she knew he had been fighting and now saw what the end result was...for now.

 

A minute later, Namine turned off the faucet, wringing out the rag one more time. When only water came out, she was pleased, for she had gotten the blood out. She would get more on it again by the end of this, but still, she was glad the rag was clean. She held the wet washcloth in her hand as she walked out of the bathroom, turning off the light behind her. She reentered the living room a few seconds later, her gaze immediately going to Roxas on the coffee table.

 

Roxas didn't sense Namine's presence in the living room, the boy staring down at the ground. For the past minute he had been trying to ignore his pain, instead focusing on his thoughts. His fight between Smith had been evenly matched in the beginning, but once he started to absorb the others' energy, it went downhill. That was why he had the wound in his shoulder now; he hadn't been quick enough to dodge the attack. Smith was stronger, and it made Roxas nervous. However, he knew he had to get past that and defeat him, once and for all.

 

Namine approached Roxas quietly, the girl setting the rag on the corner of the coffee table behind Roxas. She then picked up the disinfectant spray, her eyes wandering to Roxas when she had the spray in her hand. She bit her lip lightly, moving behind him so that she could spray the injury.
