Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return V2

Roxas glanced over his shoulder to see Namine, and he knew instantly what she was doing. He then returned his gaze to the ground. He balled his hands into fists, tensing at what was about to come. "Do it," he muttered lowly, preparing for the pain and just wanting it to be done with.

 

Namine nodded faintly, though she didn't do it right away. She gently set her hand on Roxas's back, her other one holding the spray bottle. She bit down harder on her lip and sprayed the disinfectant over Roxas's wound.

 

Roxas squeezed his eyes shut, his body tensing even more despite Namine's hand being on his back. The spray burned, causing him to hiss in pain. It would be over in a minute, he knew that. It had to be cleaned; an infection would only be worse.

 

Namine sprayed the bottle two more times before she lowered the bottle, feeling as if there was enough disinfectant to clean the wound. She lightly ran her hand over Roxas's back, her eyes moving and following the motion.

 

Roxas's hands were balled into tight fists at the burning sensation in his shoulder, the boy trying to relax with Namine's touch. But his body was still tense, his teeth ground together as he kept his eyes shut. After a few seconds, he felt the burn slowly turn into a sting, allowing him to let out a long breath in relief.

 

Namine kept running her hand over Roxas's back, feeling how tense he was. She felt bad that she had to be the one to cause him more pain, but in the end, it would help him. At least, that was what she told herself.

 

Roxas's eyes were no longer shut tightly, the boy starting to relax a little. Namine's gentle motion helped, the boy taking in a deep breath and exhaling softly. The stinging was beginning to fade away, thank goodness. But he knew that he was going to remain somewhat tense until the gauze was on, because even thinking of touching his shoulder made him want to wince.

 

Namine noticed a little bit of disinfectant running down Roxas's back, so she set down the bottle and reached for the rag, using it to wipe at the trail. She knew that they had to wash out the disinfectant, but she wasn't sure how to do that. Just run the rag over the wound? She didn't want to cause Roxas that kind of pain...

 

Roxas felt Namine run the rag over his back a little, but he otherwise remained silent. He couldn't remember having an injury that hurt this much before. It bothered him that he had been such an easy target for Smith, even after defeating him twice in the past.

 

"...How do you feel?" Namine asked softly, wanting to know. Did he feel better? Worse? She hoped that she hadn't hurt him by accident when she was cleaning up the initial blood that had been on him...

 

Roxas unclenched his teeth to respond. "I'm alright," he told Namine softly. He was just thankful she hadn't seen him after the hit struck; that had been very painful. He certainly could have been worse now, but thankfully he wasn't, in front of Namine.

 

Namine nodded faintly, though she knew that Roxas couldn't see her. "...I need to wipe over it with the washcloth," she said softly, both to herself and to Roxas. It was the only way to clean it out. And then there was the gauze, which would be a problem; she didn't think she had nearly enough for this, but this was all that she had in her home.

 

Roxas felt himself tense again at the mention, the boy opening his eyes to stare at the floor. Great. "Okay," he said, aware of how badly this was going to hurt. The disinfectant had been bad, but actually touching the wound to clean out that stuff? He wasn't too excited.

 

Namine bit down on her lip again, moving her left hand off Roxas's back and onto his arm. She looked to the wound and then took in a soft breath, lightly running over it with the wet cloth. She hated doing this, but thankfully, she would be done in a few minutes.

 

Roxas groaned slightly, but he cut it off by pressing his lips together, so it instead sounded more like a grunt. Yeah, that hurt. But he had to get through it, and he would in a few seconds. His fists clenched a little tighter as he felt the rag go over his wound, silently cursing Smith for doing this to him.

 

Namine furrowed her brows, forcing herself to do it a few more times before she pulled back. "Sorry," she whispered, knowing that she had just done something that caused Roxas a lot of pain. "I'm done."

 

Roxas felt the pain from the cleaning begin to subside, the boy's shoulders sagging as he released a deep breath. Even if he was going through more pain because of this process, he was grateful Namine was so willing to help him. He appreciated it, even if he couldn't show it right now.

 

Namine bit her lip lightly, setting down the rag on the coffee table again. She lifted her right hand and lightly rubbed Roxas's back, not sure what else to do in this situation. She hoped not to be put in this position again any time soon, though she didn't' know for sure if that wish would come true; anything was possible now that Smith was back.

 

"Thanks," Roxas said after a brief moment of silence, turning his head a little as if to look at Namine, even though he didn't see her. He knew this was probably uncomfortable for her, and he never wanted to ask this of her again. But he never knew what could happen.

 

"Mm," Namine hummed automatically, continuing to run her hand over Roxas's back. She hoped that he felt alright now; she didn't think she could handle causing him any more pain. Smith was the initial cause of the pain, but still, she didn't like adding to it in any way.
