Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return V2

Roxas leaned against the wall just outside the living room doorway, waiting for Namine in the entrance hall. Kairi's wasn't that far of a walk; only a few blocks away. They would make it there on time, and surely without any problems.

 

Once she was dressed, Namine grabbed a tissue of the endtable by her bed, wiping at the tears that had fallen from her eyes. She hoped that Roxas wouldn't be able to notice that she had been crying; he had enough to worry about. She sighed softly, throwing out the tissue and entering the hall. They needed to go to Kairi's now, since the others were probably expecting them.

 

Roxas stared down at the ground, his arms folded over his chest. Smith was clearly still pursuing his goal, even if they still had no idea what that was. The only reason Roxas could tell was because of how Namine was reacting; the dizziness and such. He hated seeing it, mostly because he never liked to witness her pain. Roxas couldn't wait to get rid of Smith, and the problems along with him.

 

Namine walked through the living room, seeing that her cell phone was still on the endtable. She picked it up and stuffed it into her pocket before she went into the foyer, immediately seeing Roxas standing there and waiting for her.

 

Roxas lifted his eyes to his side, seeing Namine. "Ready?" he asked, and he wasn't sure if he was asking about leaving for Kairi's or the future altogether. He wasn't feeling very good about Smith's intentions, but he knew he had to defeat him and protect Namine at all costs. There was no room for faults.

 

Namine nodded wordlessly, stopping when she was close to Roxas. Whether she was ready or not, it was time to go. She didn't feel like anything bad was going to happen right now, for some feeling, but she knew that Smith could attack at any moment. The thought made Namine not want to leave Roxas's side, ever.

 

Roxas nodded once and pushed himself away from he wall, his arms unfolding. However, he lifted his hand and offered it to Namine. He wanted to keep her close at all times, and being able to feel her hand in his would make him feel a little better about it.

 

Namine glanced downward, seeing that Roxas had his hand extended towards her. She lifted her own hand and slipped it into his, feeling his skin against hers. She was glad he had offered his hand to her, because if he hadn't, she would have reached out and taken a hold of it anyway.

 

Roxas gripped Namine's hand securely, his eyes lingering on her for a moment before he turned and started toward the door. They would reach Kairi's in a matter of minutes, where hopefully they could get this all settled out.

 

Sora sat silently on Kairi's coach, his eyes shut as he leaned into the back of the furniture. They had finished talking a little while ago, and Riku had been the one to come up with the idea that they needed to patch up their wounds. As far as Sora knew, Kairi was still helping Riku with his, while Sora just reclined in the chair. He was in a lot of pain from earlier, when Nathaniel had wrapped his tail around him and squeezed him. Sora was pretty sure he had some broken ribs, but he couldn't worry about that right now.

 

Riku sat on Kairi's couch, the girl standing in front of him as she disinfected a cut on his face. He winced at the sting, turning his head away. However, he only heard Kairi scolding him.

"Riku, you have to hold still," Kairi told him sternly, holding the cotton ball that she had put disinfectant on in her hand. She found it humorous how Riku was so stoic and reserved, but when it came to simply cleaning a cut he acted like a child.

Riku rolled his eyes slightly as he faced Kairi again, noticing how she was using a mother-like tone with him. He vaguely thought of the times when they were kids, and she had scolded him in moments like these. He grunted slightly in pain when she dabbed the disinfectant to his scratch again, the teen recalling he must have gotten it from when the Guardian slammed his body into the ground so roughly.

 

Right now, Sora could only be glad that Nathaniel was gone for good. Unfortunately, that was one of the only good things in this situation. Smith was free, he was tormenting Namine, and all three of the boys had wounds that they needed to tend to. Well, Roxas and Riku, anyway; there was nothing anybody could do for broken ribs.

 

Kairi finished tending to Riku's wound, having already patched up his other injuries. She turned her attention to her first aid supplies, though she couldn't get the thoughts of what the boys just told her out of her head. They were all in the Realm of Darkness? Xehanort's Heartless, Smith, and Nathaniel? The last name made her feel uncomfortable, for obvious reasons. She still hadn't gotten over that, considering it had taken place a little over two weeks ago.

Riku ran a hand through his hair once Kairi turned away, looking to Sora. His friend didn't look so good. "You got anything you need patched up?" he asked him in the silence, filling it immediately.

 

Sora shook his head against the back of the couch, his arms folded in front of his chest. "No," he said simply, keeping his eyes closed. He had a few scrapes here and there, but it was nothing that he needed treated. Gah, I wish I could use a potion, he thought, feeling his lower chest throbbing in pain.

 

Kairi busied herself with throwing the stuff she used to treat Riku's wounds into the trashcan she had brought into the room. "Are you sure?" she asked, glancing at him before returning to her first aid supplies. She could see he didn't look his best, and if he had an injury, she would appreciate knowing so she could try to help.

 

Sora opened his eyes as he nodded, not moving on his position on the couch. "Might have a few broken ribs, but there's nothing we can do about that," he said simply. Broken or fractured ribs healed on their own, though it took some time. He would have to work through it and act as if the injury wasn't that bad.

 

Kairi turned around, her hands empty of any supplies at the moment. A few broken ribs? Nathaniel had done that to him... The girl gazed at Sora for a minute before taking a seat next to him on the couch, sitting between him and Riku. She lightly set a hand on his arm, frowning with a soft look in her eyes.

Riku knew that Sora probably wasn't lying, thinking back to his battle with that guy-turned-dragon in the Dark Realm. He had a few questions on his mind about what all was going on here that he didn't know about. He had never seen that guy before in his life, and the same went for Roxas's enemy as well.

 

Sora looked down when he felt Kairi's hand on his arm, his eyes wandering up to Kairi's a few seconds later. He saw the softness behind her gaze, but he also saw the sadness. He knew what she was feeling and he lightly touched Kairi's hand with his fingertips, his arms still folded across hsi chest.

 

Riku leaned forward slightly, peering around Kairi to look at his best friend. "Who was that guy anyway?" he asked, referring to Nathaniel. "He was...unusual." He'd never witnessed somebody turning into a dragon before, which was strange. Where was he from, and what significance did he have to Sora?

Kairi kept her hand on Sora's arm, her eyes lowering slightly at Riku's question. Unusual was a good word to describe Nathaniel, now that she thought about it. She wished she would have thought about things beforehand, that way she could have avoided getting too close to him.

 

Sora frowned, his gaze going down when he heard Riku's question. He didn't want to go in depth with this while Kairi was in the room, but unless he gave Riku some information, he would just pressure him into saying more. "Somebody I met a few weeks ago," Sora said. "He came here looking for the Princess of Heart with the intent of kidnapping her and taking her to rule with him on his home world, where he was a prince. Obviously I stopped him before that could happen." The had a fierce battle, and Sora hadn't walked away from that one unscathed, either.
