Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return V2

Kairi turned her body, her feet lowering to the floor. "I'll go find you guys something to eat," she said softly, knowing that the boys had to be hungry. She offered them a small smile before she walked past the couch and started out of the room to head toward the kitchen.

Riku followed Kairi with his eyes, but didn't say anything. When was the last time he had a good meal? Quite a while. He had been traveling for the last year or so, since everybody else moved here.

 

Sora heard Kairi's words, though they sounded soft to him. Don't fall asleep, he ordered himself. There's no point in it now; you'll eat in a little while, wake up Roxas, and then start searching again. There's no time for rest...All while he thought these things, he felt himself getting more tired, which he didn't think was possible.

 

Kairi left the room and headed for the kitchen, entering only a brief moment later. She went toward the fridge, already knowing what she was going to cook. Eggs, toast, and bacon. It would be good for the boys, and by the time she finished cooking it, everyone else would probably be awake too.

 

Don't, Sora told himself firmly, clenching one of his hands in a fist. You've dealt with exhaustion before. Suck it up and deal with it now too. He couldn't let it control him; he had a lot of things he needed to do today with searching for Smith. However, in the back of his mind, he realized that his injuries were making it harder for him to search, as well as stay awake now.

 

After a few minutes, Kairi had already started on the bacon and toast, but she quickly made her way out of the kitchen to ask the boys a question regarding their eggs. "Hey, guys? How do you like your eggs?" she asked, stopping in the doorway.

 

Sora heard the question, and he forced himself to snap out of his tiredness. He opened his eyes and looked to Kairi in the doorway, seeing her waiting for an answer. "However," he mumbled simply, not really caring how he had his eggs made. He shut his eyes again, too tired to keep them open.

 

Riku saw Kairi look to him at the mumble, and he simply shrugged. He didn't care either, but then he saw the look in her eyes and what they really said. He motioned to Sora with a jerk of his head, knowing what she was thinking. He was thinking the same thing too: Sora needed to sleep.

Kairi nodded and wordlessly went over to the chair Sora was sitting in. She sat herself down on the arm of it, looking down at him. "Sora, why don't you get a little more sleep?" she requested softly, seeing how tired he appeared.

 

"I'm fine," Sora mumbled tiredly, aware that Kairi had moved herself to be next to him. He wasn't sure what she hoped to accomplish by sitting down next to him; he was determined not to fall asleep again.

 

Kairi's eyes softened at Sora's words, the girl lifting her hand and lightly starting to play with his spiky hair. "But you seem awfully tired," she told him gently. He'd only gotten worse since she woke up, and she wanted him to be well rested for the rest of the day.

 

"Mm," Sora mumbled, tilting his head towards Kairi slightly when he felt her playing with his fair. She knew perfectly well that actions like this often made him sleepier, and he now understood why she had moved closer to him; it was so that she could do this, and hopefully make him stop fighting sleep.

 

Kairi felt herself smile slightly, believing Sora was adorable when he was sleepy. She continued playing with his hair, staying silent. She'd helped him fall asleep many times before by doing this; she didn't think it would fail her now.

 

Sora felt himself slipping, though he still didn't want to sleep again. He and Roxas needed to go...they needed to find Smith...things were too dangerous for him to be sleeping now...All these excuses popped into his mind, but none of them seemed to register with him now that he was so tired.

 

Kairi proceeded to play with Sora's spikes, her hand coming down and brushing his bangs back as she ran her fingers through his spikes gently. He was falling asleep, she could tell. And that was great; he needed the rest.

 

Sora turned his head towards Kairi a little more, aware that she knew what she was doing by playing with his hair. "So unfair," he murmured, referring to what she was doing now. However, he no longer cared about fairness, sleep calling to him.

 

Kairi giggled softly, but otherwise kept running her fingers through Sora's hair. She knew that he was trying not to fall asleep, but his efforts were useless; he was going to, she knew it. That was why she didn't stop her movements, her fingers raking through Sora's spikes once again.

 

Sora exhaled a soft breath through his nose, Kairi's soft giggle echoing in his ears. After a few more seconds, his senses dimmed, the brunet only aware that Kairi was playing with his hair as he finally fell asleep.

 

Kairi looked down at Sora as silence finally filled the room again, playing with Sora's hair for a little while longer until she was sure he was asleep. When she did, she let her hand cup his cheek, her thumb brushing over his skin once before she stood up. Kairi's eyes found Riku, and she smiled sweetly at him, to which he only smirked. She then proceeded to walk out of the room, aware she still had food cooking.

 

Though Kairi had left him alone, Sora didn't notice, too out of it to realize that she had stopped running her hand through his hair. Even though he hadn't wanted to sleep at all earlier, he was subconsciously glad that Kairi had forced him into it; he really did need the rest.

 

Kairi made it back to the kitchen in time to tend to the bacon, the toast waiting in the toaster. All she had to do was get the eggs and the breakfast was ready. Of course, now there would be an extra plate, since Sora had fallen asleep.

 

A little while later, Namine stirred on the couch, her hand coming up to the armrest that her head was on. She had started waking up earlier, but then she had fallen right back asleep. This time, though, she felt as if she was really awakening, and would be awake for a while.
