Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return V2

"...Would you like some more medicine?" Kairi asked softly as she gazed at Sora, recalling how he had requested some the day before. He seemed in pain now, so she began to wonder if she should get some.

 

Sora nodded softly, mentally scolding himself for letting Kairi see him in so much pain. He supposed that it was unavoidable, but he still didn't like it. He exhaled a breath and opened his eyes, lowering his head as he picked up his fork with his hand that had previously been a fist. He needed to eat so he and Roxas could get going.

 

Kairi pushed herself up wordlessly and left the room, going down the hall to the bathroom. She reached inside the cabinet and pulled out some painkillers, but this time she remembered to grab a glass of water for Sora, since he didn't have a beverage to go with his meal either. With that knowledge, she left the bathroom, pills in hand, and started for the kitchen.

 

Sora forced himself to swallow some more egg, the food delicious but causing him pain at the same time. However, he couldn't focus on that; he needed the energy this food would provide so that he and Roxas would be able to search the city. He frowned at the thought and ate some more, his eyes on his plate of food.

 

Kairi didn't interrupt her friends' conversation when she entered the kitchen, quietly entering and filling a glass with water before leaving. She walked down the hall and turned into the living room again, seeing Sora back to eating again. That was good; he needed the energy.

 

Sora set down the fork, finished now with the eggs. He was about to grab the piece of toast, but he noticed movement out of the corner of his eye. He turned his head immediately, seeing that Kairi seemed to have been coming from the kitchen, both because of the direction and because she held a glass of water in her hand.

 

Kairi met Sora's gaze and smiled weakly, stopping next to him and silently offering the objects in her hands. Hopefully once he took these he wouldn't be in as much pain; that wouldn't be good for him with what he had to do today, or good for him at all.

 

Sora set his plate down in his lap, one hand coming up for the glass while the other took the pills out of Kairi's grasp. "Thanks," he said softly, his eyes moving up to hers before he shifted his gaze to the two items he took.

 

"No problem." Kairi stepped past him and sat down where she did before, taking back her seat. She pulled at the long sleeves of her grey shirt, letting silence surround her and Sora again.

 

Sora swallowed one pill with the help of water before he did the same with the second, swallowing the pain medication. It's ironic that taking medication for pain hurts, he thought to himself, almost amused. However, things were too serious for him to think about laughing or joking around right now.

 

Kairi lowered her hands to her lap and looked there, not saying anything. The thought of Sora leaving again frightened her, since she knew how threatening this new problem was. It could get very ugly, and it probably would; the boys had to stop him after all. Kairi didn't like knowing that, but there was really nothing she could do but wait...like every time.

 

Sora held the glass in his hand, though it was lowered now. He kept the plate on his lap and reached down with his free hand, picking up the piece of toast and bringing it to his mouth. He chewed on it, though he wasn't really thinking about the food anymore. He and Roxas needed to get a move on; they had a lot of work to do if they had any hope of finding Smith.

 

Somebody from the Realm of Darkness being in the Realm of Light? It only spelled danger. Kairi was very scared, especially since Riku had to stay and watch over her and Namine. But she wanted Sora and Roxas to solve this as soon as possible, because she wanted Sora to be with her and not facing the threat. It was just one of her selfish wishes.

 

Sora finished his piece of toast, so he then lifted his glass to his lips and drank what was left of his water. Once that was completely, he lowered it again, sighing softly when he realized that he and Roxas needed to leave right away. He would much rather stay, or even sleep. But he needed to get rid of Smith before anything else; there was no time to waste.

 

Kairi turned her head to look at Sora at the sigh, her bangs falling in her eyes slightly. "...Done?" she asked, glancing at his plate. He seemed to be finished.

 

"Yeah," Sora said with a nod, his thoughts still in his mind. "Thanks." He appreciated Kairi bringing him breakfast, sitting with him, bringing him medicine...and even forcing him to take a nap. Though he was sleep deprived, he felt better than he had earlier.

 

"Sure," Kairi replied softly, nodding a little. She noticed by Sora's voice that he seemed a little out of it. Whether he was still sleepy or thinking, she didn't know. As long as he was next to her, that was all that mattered to her at the moment.

 

"Thanks for, uh, earlier," Sora said, referring to when she played with his hair until he fell asleep. It had been a very long time since that occurred, and though he wished it was under different circumstances, he was glad that she did that for him.

 

Kairi knew instantly what Sora meant by "earlier", a small smile coming to her face as she gazed at him. She hadn't actually played with his hair since before he left for his last mission, which was quite a few months ago. They still had a lot of old habits to pick up after getting back together, though she wished they never had to get back together at all; she shouldn't have lost faith in him so suddenly.

 

Sora set down the plate on the endtable beside him, also placing the glass there as well. He exhaled a soft breath, a saddened expression appearing on his lips as he turned to look at Kairi. "We need to go," he said softly. He and Roxas had a lot of searching to do today, and they needed to get started as soon as possible.
