Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return V2

Roxas skidded to a halt when he saw Smith and Sora disappear. He turned around quickly, looking around to the best of his ability. Even though his eyes had adjusted to the Realm of Darkness, he still couldn't see very far.

Riku took in a breath and lifted Way to Dawn, stabbing it into the ground as he started to rise to his feet. He grunted at how difficult it was now, due to the blow he had just received. Once he was standing, he kept Way to Dawn in the ground to steady himself.

Kairi struggled against the restraint the Heartless had on her when Sora disappeared and when Riku shakily rose to his feet. But she knew it wasn't any use; she couldn't do anything anyway.

 

Sora rose to his feet just in time to block an attack from Smith, having been knocked over when he was kicked into the portal. "Take this!" he cried, summoning Ultima Weapon as his second Keyblade and swinging both weapons at the man.

Smith grunted, feeling both the Keyblades hit him. "Don't get cocky!" he roared, summoning a dark portal behind Sora once again. He rushed forward, swinging his gunblade at Sora.

Sora blocked the blow with his Keyblades, though the amount of energy behind the attack forced him a step back. He winced at the aching in his arms, looking up just in time to see Smith swing at him even harder. The blow to his Keyblades sent him flying backwards, out of the portal and back into the Realm of Darkness, where he landed on the ground and eventually rolled to a stop.

 

Roxas turned his head sharply at the noise Sora's form made when returning to the Realm. "Sora!" he called shortly, running forward immediately. Smith was sure to appear near his friend, so that was where he was going.

Riku lowered his hand from his chest, which instantly formed a fist as he fought off his injury. It wasn't going to be easy, but he had to do it. He heard Roxas's cry and looked over, seeing the blond rushing to Sora's aid. He had enough strength, so he could help Riku's best friend. For now, Riku needed to assist a few other people. He lifted his aqua eyes to the girls, who were being restricted by Heartless. It was time to end that.

 

Sora grunted, getting up to one knee when he heard Roxas start over towards him. He then looked up when he heard a harsh battle cry, seeing Smith rushing towards him. His eyes widened and he dodge-rolled out of the way, at the same time striking Smith's back. He watched the man stumble forward as he drew back his right arm, throwing the Kingdom Key at him.

 

Riku glanced back at the battle before quickly moving toward the girls' position. He may have been injured, but he would prefer the girls to be protected by him than be in the arms of Heartless. He arrived near them in only a few seconds, the boy glancing out of the corner of his eye again to make sure Smith was occupied.

"Riku," Kairi said in relief, moving a little against the Heartless's arms when she saw him approaching them. He was alright, as far as she could tell.

 

Namine recognized Kairi's relief, the blond feeling it as well. She was glad to see that Riku was on his feet again after a hit like that. She felt the Heartless behind her keep its hold on her, which was getting to be painful since its claws were sharp.

 

Riku heard Kairi and looked at her and Namine briefly before making his next move. He had to defeat the Heartless holding them before anything, or else that would only resort in more pain for them. The Heartless were taller than the girls, so he gave one order as a blue aura formed around his hand. "Duck your heads!"

Kairi reacted quickly, lowering her head as her knees bent to help her get as low as she could. She squeezed her eyes shut, prepared for the attack to land on the creatures holding her and Namine in one place.

 

Namine heard Riku's cry, at the same time getting low as Kairi did. She squeezed her eyes shut, preparing for whatever it was Riku had in store for the Heartless that were holding her and Kairi captive.

 

Riku released Dark Aura on the Heartless as soon as the girls' heads were lowered, the blue orbs making contact immediately. He narrowed his eyes at the screams that left the Heartless, but was relieved to see them release the girls. However, he knew that they weren't close to being defeated yet.

Kairi opened her eyes when she felt the Heartless release her, catching herself on her hands as she landed on one knee. She felt the pressure that had been against her arms begin to lift, the pain beginning to leave from the grasp the Heartless had on her before.

 

Namine fell down to her knees, her hands catching her before she could fall any further. She exhaled a breath, glad that the Heartless no longer had a grip on her or her friend. She shifted her gaze to Kairi at the thought, wanting to make sure that her friend was okay.

 

Kairi felt a gaze on her and turned her head, immediately meeting Namine's gaze and nodding when she registered what her friend was thinking. She was fine, and she hoped Namine was as well.

"Kairi! Namine!" Riku cried instantly, seeing the Heartless behind them going for the girls again. He wasn't sure how hard this small battle was going to be due to his injury, but he was positive it wasn't going to be as difficult as the one with Smith.

Kairi's head shot up to Riku at the sound of her name and the alarm in his voice. She turned her head sharply to look over her shoulder and follow his gaze, her eyes widening when she saw the Heartless coming back from being stunned. She gasped and pushed herself up immediately, running in the opposite direction, toward Riku.

 

Namine's eyes widened, the girl looking over her shoulder to see the Heartless. She pushed herself up as well, immediately following Kairi's lead and rushing over to Riku. She didn't want to be near those things again; there was no telling how they would act now that they had been attacked.

 

Kairi ran over to Riku and came to a stop beside him, behind him slightly as she looked back toward the Heartless. She wasn't sure what was going to happen now, but Riku could certainly handle them. Right?

 

Namine stopped on the other side of Riku, the girl looking around him a little bit to the Heartless. At the sight of them, she gripped her lower arm with her hand, remembering and feeling the discomfort from the creature's grasp.

 

Now that the girls were behind him, Riku knew they wouldn't go anywhere else. That meant he had to take care of the Heartless immediately. He stepped forward and brought up his arm as he shot Dark Aura at one Heartless, stunning it as he darted for the other, Keyblade at the ready.

 

Namine looked up, keeping an eye on what Riku was doing even though she hated watching battles. She was always concerned that her friends were going to get hurt, which, more often than not, happened. She hoped that this case was an exception; she didn't want anybody to have to go through any more pain.

 

Riku leaped into the air and performed an air combo on the second Heartless once he reached it, fighting through the pain in his chest as he swung. He didn't let up until the Heartless let out a wail, disappearing in black smoke.

Warning bells went off in Kairi's head when she saw the second Heartless going for Riku, who had just finished taking down the other. "Riku!" she called instantly.

Riku heard the cry and whirled around, lifting Way to Dawn simultaneously. He felt his feet slide back a little at the attack he had just blocked from the other Heartless, but that didn't stop him. He slashed at the Heartless repeatedly, and in about half a minute, it faded from existence as well.

 

Namine breathed a soft breath of relief, seeing Riku react in time to block the second Heartless. She had seen it going for him, but Kairi had cried out to Riku before she could think to.

 

Riku stared at the space the Heartless had occupied before turning to look at the girls. He nodded to them once before starting back toward them, subconsciously bringing a hand to his aching chest. Roxas better kill him, he thought silently, since he had taken the hit for the Nobody. If he didn't repay Riku by doing that, Riku wasn't sure what he would do.

Kairi stepped forward slightly when she saw her best friend's obvious sign of pain, her concern growing for him. She had seen the blow he took in saving Roxas, and it seemed like it had a lasting effect.

 

Namine bit down lightly on her lip, seeing that Riku appeared to be in pain. She immediately recognized that it was because he stepped in front of Roxas. I don't know how I'll ever repay him for that, she thought, incredibly thankful he had saved Roxs.
