Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return V2

Riku only smiled a little and dropped his gaze back to the floor, the same place he had been looking at before Sora came in. It was weird now, not having any threats. He had been so used to them for so long that he wasn't used to this kind of peace. Riku never just sat around; right after he finished a battle he just kept on walking until he found another one.

 

Sora shifted his gaze to Roxas when Riku didn't say anything, the brunet having been reminded of the clothes he set out for Roxas. "I've got some extra stuff in my room out if you wanna change," he told Roxas. After all, they were the same build, so anything that Sora wore, Roxas could wear as well.

 

Roxas opened his eyes, lifting his head off the back of the couch. He opened his eyes and blinked once so Sora's form wasn't blurry anymore. He nodded once the words registered to him, the boy having been lost in his thoughts. "'Kay, thanks," he said, a small amount of gratitude coming through in his voice. Roxas put his hands on his knees and pushed himself up, suppressing a grunt of pain as he did so. He then started out of the room, turning at the doorway to go to Sora's room.

 

Sora nodded slightly to Roxas, hearing the gratitude as well as the grunt of pain. They were all feeling sore from that battle, but he didn't think that anybody was willing to bring it up. At least, he knew that he wasn't. He leaned back into the couch, exhaling a soft breath as he looked down to the floor.

 

Roxas walked down the hall and turned at the door he knew belonged to Sora's room. Once he stepped inside and closed the door, he saw Sora's extra clothes neatly set on the bed. Roxas didn't hesitate, starting to take off his traveling clothes when he was next to the bed.

Riku closed his eyes at the burning in his chest, the older teen taking in a breath and releasing it through his nose. One thing he hated about this place was that potions never worked here, which meant that he would have to deal with this pain until he left this world and could actually put one to use.

 

Sora shut his eyes, the silence in the room welcoming peace. They had fought one of the biggest battles of their lives, and they came out victorious. And alive. Those were good reasons to allow them to feel peace. That, and the fact that Smith would never come back. He had thought that before, but this time, he was sure of it.

 

Roxas walked out of Sora's room, now completely changed into a pair of black sweats and blue t-shirt. His traveling attire was in Sora's room, but folded neatly despite how tattered it was. He decided he would get it later when he went home. Roxas rolled his right shoulder, which was just aching and not so much injured as his other one was, as he approached the living room, turning into the doorway and being welcomed by silence as he made his way to the couch again.

 

Namine glanced up at Roxas when she saw movement out of the corner of her eye, the girl seeing her boyfriend enter the room once again. She didn't mean to keep her eyes on him, but she didn't really want to look away. After everything they had been through, she was glad to be near to him and all her other friends.

 

Roxas looked up when he felt someone's gaze on him, but by the gentleness he already knew who it was. A small smile graced his lips when he met Namine's eyes, the boy nodding slightly to her before he took his place beside her again. It wasn't...awkwardly quiet in here, but there seemed to be a peaceful aura surrounding all of them. Roxas could only pin that on one thing: Smith's defeat.

 

Namine smiled back at Roxas, her smile matching his in size. She hadn't meant to stare at him, but she supposed that it didn't really matter. She didn't feel awkward over her error, and Roxas didn't seem to feel that way either.

 

At the thought, Roxas lifted his hand and lightly wrapped it around Namine's that was closest to him. Smith was gone, and he couldn't hurt her anymore. He was so relieved that the man wasn't even in existence anymore; not even the Realm of Darkness was where he belonged. Namine and his friends were safe from him forever.

 

Namine looked down when Roxas grasped her hand, and she also lightly wrapped her fingers around his. Her thumb ran over his skin without thought, her eyes following the movement. She was so glad that he was with her; she didn't know what she would do without him.

 

Roxas leaned his head back against the couch, closing his eyes and sighing. "I'm so glad that's over," he said without thought, his voice soft in the room, though his relief was obvious. Smith had been just as bad as Jeff in the past, and now that he was finally finished like Jeff, Roxas didn't think anymore problems would be coming his and Namine's way. That was wonderful, considering he was still needing to figure himself out and repair the parts of their relationship that he managed to break.

Kairi nodded faintly, the girl hugging her knees as she sat on the loveseat beside Sora. It had been terrifying, being in Smith's grasp. However, she knew it must have been just as frightening for Namine, considering the man had had a grudge against her and Roxas, which she knew was now broken. She was glad; he wasn't going to bother her friends ever again.

 

"Yeah," Sora said, agreeing softly. Smith only ever brought them pain and misery, but now he felt as if it was all over. He would never take the girls again; he would never taunt Roxas, and he would never accuse Sora of giving into the darkness again. It was finally, and completely, over.

 

Riku opened his eyes and glanced at Roxas, but then his eyes fell down to the floor. It was obvious by Roxas's relief and the way things had been between him and Smith that the past obviously was not present. Who knew that a person so evil would even find his friends? Riku didn't understand; weren't they here to escape all of that?

 

Sora kept his eyes shut, exhaling a breath. They were all feeling relieved over this, but he bet Roxas was feeling the most of it. As much as Sora hated Smith, he knew that Roxas was worse than he was. Smith had always made it a point to torture his best friend, along with Namine.

 

Roxas tightened his grip on Namine's hand a little, making it more secure. She was really there with him, and she wasn't hurt. That was one of the most important things that stood out to him right now. Smith had managed to hurt Namine pretty badly in the past, but she stood up to him. She was so brave, and it made Roxas proud. He had a feeling nothing about Smith would hurt them from here on out.

 

Namine felt Roxas hold her hand a little more tightly, and she didn't mind that one bit. She liked feeling him so close, and even if it was just him holding her hand, she felt safer that way. At the thought, she lightly leaned her head on Roxas's shoulder, her eyes on their hands holding each other.

 

Roxas kept his eyes closed, a soft breath leaving him when he felt Namine's head on his shoulder. He couldn't believe how tired and relieved he was that all of this was over. He was curious as to what they were going to do now, but by the silence, it seemed no one else knew either.

 

Sora forced his eyes open, feeling tired because of the silence lingering in the air. "Something tells me we're going to crash soon," he said with a small chuckle. Everyone looked cozy where they were, but he wasn't sure if everyone wanted to fall asleep upright in chairs. Somebody could take his bed, and the one in the guest bedroom. The only problem was that that left three people without beds, and only two couches...
