Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return V2

Roxas took a deep breath, fighting the urge to make a retort. He looked from Jeff to Namine, anger evident in his eyes. He didn't trust Jeff, that was obvious. He was only a few steps behind Namine, and he had followed her... Well, he wasn't sure why. It was an automatic reaction; he wanted to keep her safe. But now he realized he couldn't do that. With rage and tension overrunning his body, the blond reluctantly stepped back, hating that he had to follow Jeff's orders.

 

Jeff watched as Roxas stepped back and he felt a smile tug at his lips. "Nice doing business with you," he said to the boy. And then he turned his attention to Namine, who was standing just out of his reach. "C'mon, baby," he said with a smirk. "You're the one who suggested this, remember?"

Namine took a step forward, eying Jeff carefully. "Okay, I'm here. So let go of Kairi," she said, staring directly into Jeff's eyes. "There's no way you could hold onto both of us at the same time, so just let her go and grab me instead."

 

Roxas's heart skipped a beat at Jeff's words, but out of extreme rage. He didn't think he had ever been this angry in his life. But then he briefly thought of Smith, who had succeeded in bringing out the worst in Roxas. Jeff was doing the same, and the similarity made Roxas want to punch a wall.

Kairi kept her eyes on Namine, seeing the bravery in her best friend's eyes. As much as she wanted to get out of harm's way, she didn't want to put Namine in it, either.

 

Jeff smiled widely, his eyes on Namine's the whole time. "You're the only one I want, anyway," he said. He released Kairi's wrists and then brought up his other hand, pressing it against her upper back and pushing her a few steps away from him but not knocking her to the ground. And then he stepped closer and brought up his arm so that he could wrap it around Namine's upper torso like he had before.

Namine watched the whole scene unfold as if it were in slow motion, the girl focused on what she had to do. Roxas taught her self defense in the past, and she was about to prove to him that the training hadn't been a waste. When she saw Jeff try to wrap an arm around her, she ducked, going down low as she swept a leg at Jeff's legs from behind him, making him lose his balance, stumbling and then falling. While he was down, she rose to her feet and took a few steps back away from him, out of his reach and leaving Jeff without a "shield".

 

At the shove, Kairi stumbled, but she felt a pair of strong arms catch her, even if she wasn't going to fall. She looked up and saw that Nathan had a hold of her, but she didn't have time to enjoy it. She caught the movement out of the corner of her eye and gasped at what Namine did, seeing Jeff on the ground.

Roxas's eyes widened at the action that took place in front of him, shocked to see Namine perform a move like that. Regardless, he was proud of her, recognizing that she remembered some of the training he had taught her. Roxas focused on Jeff, fists tightening as he fought to control the anger boiling inside him.

 

Jeff got up off his butt quickly, eyes narrowed at the blond girl who had foiled him. "That wasn't a part of the deal!" he cried in outrage, hands tightened into fists. "You're gonna pay for that!" He was seriously ticked...how could a puny little girl like Namine execute a move like that so perfectly?

Namine's eyes widened slightly at the threat, the girl feeling a pang of fear despite the bravery she felt a few moments ago. She took a few more steps back, stopping and standing next to Roxas for protection. Jeff was furious now, and she wasn't sure if he would come for her right away or not.

 

Roxas took a small step forward and lifted his arm, putting it in front of Namine's form as if to block her from any of Jeff's attacks. Namine was going to pay? Roxas only glared at the jock in anger at the words. "If anybody's gonna pay, it's you!" he hollered darkly. Jeff wasn't getting away from him, not this time.

 

Namine felt her heart skip a beat at Roxas' protectiveness, a sense of relief washing over her. Jeff wasn't going to get his hands on her, not while Roxas was here. She was more grateful that he stepped up then she could put into words, but she knew that now wasn't the time for thanks. Though he was caring enough to be protective of her at that moment, she could tell he was still furious.

Jeff stared at Roxas, seeing how he was attempting to protect Namine. Pathetic. "Yeah?" he asked evenly, arching a brow. "Are you gonna make me pay, or are you gonna let your girlfriend do all the work for you?" He felt a sly smirk appear on his lips, the teen bringing Namine back into the conversation just to tick off Roxas even more than he already was.

 

Roxas felt himself tense, a low growl coming between his gritted teeth. "That's it!" he roared, and he charged forward, faster than before. Just before he reached Jeff he positioned himself, and he rammed his shoulder into Jeff, taking him down. Roxas grunted at the impact, knowing that he was going to the ground as well.

Kairi's eyes widened at the tackle, and she felt Nathan's arms tighten around her. He started to move her back, farther away from the action.

 

Namine took in a breath, taking about five large steps back away from the action. She was aware that Nathan had his arms around Kairi and was taking her away from the danger and that made her feel...sad. She didn't want this fight to happen; she just wanted somebody's arms around her too. But it wasn't going to happen, so she would be strong and independent, just like she had been the two months Roxas was gone.

Jeff grunted, but he wasn't going to let a simple tackle defeat him. The moment he felt his back in the ground, he used momentum to bring up his legs, kicking Roxas' shins and then pressing against them to try and roll him off of him.

 

Roxas felt a little winded from the tackle and hitting the ground, slightly on top of Jeff. But when he felt the attack on his legs, he winced. The pressure made him roll off of Jeff and onto the concrete, the boy squeezing his eyes shut from the pain. But he opened them quickly, knowing he had to be alert.

Nathan stopped moving Kairi a few feet away, and she discovered that they were closer to the end of the alley they had agreed to cover. But she couldn't tear her eyes away from the fight, even if it was painful to watch.

 

Jeff grunted, setting a hand on the ground as he pushed himself up as quickly as he could. He took a slight step back and then pulled back his leg, preparing to kick Roxas in the stomach. Roxas had more speed then he remembered, so he would have to beat him with heavy force and dirty tricks.

Namine bit down on her lip when she saw Roxas hit the concrete, the girl immediately wishing that she could look away. But she couldn't do that; if she looked away and Jeff came for her, then she was a goner. She had to remain alert; nobody could protect her now. She had to take care of herself.

 

Roxas lay on his side, and when he saw Jeff bring back his leg, his eyes widened. Instinct kicked in and he rolled away from the kick, knowing it barely missed him. Regardless, he quickly pushed himself to his feet and ran at Jeff, knowing the jock had his back to the wall just a few feet away.

 

Jeff grunted when he felt Roxas ram him, forcing him back against a hard brick wall. His head hit the wall a bit, but he only blinked twice in attempt to regain his focus. He had gotten into a lot of street fights lately, so he knew how crucial it was to not slip up, even for a second.

 

Roxas quickly stood up straight and gripped Jeff by the front of his jacket, bringing back his fist and throwing it forward to punch him in the face. If he missed, he would punch the wall, but there was also something else he gained from his travels--good aim.

 

Jeff felt Roxas' fist impact him hard, forcing him to turn his head in the other direction. He saw Namine in his gaze and drilled her with a look, thoughts running through his mind. You havin fun watching your boyfriend pummel me instead of holding you, sweetheart? He would have said the words aloud, but he had to swallow down a bit of blood that had risen up into his throat.

 

After his fist followed through and connected with Jeff's face, Roxas pulled it back and grabbed onto the front of Jeff's shirt with the other hand. Within his rage, he seeked vengeance. He pulled back on Jeff's form and thrust him toward the wall again, prepared to ram his body back into the wall.

 

Jeff felt Roxas pull him forward and then push him, but he had a trick up his sleeve. He reached out a hand and set it on Roxas' shoulder, his feet landing against the wall. Then he used his feet to push himself, giving him the momentum to give a hard kick to Roxas' shin. He brought one foot off the wall and began to execute the move, his hand staying on Roxas' shoulder for balance.

 

Roxas was confused as to what was going on, but the move was so quick that he didn't have time to defend himself. Whatever Jeff was doing, the attack was going to hit its target, and Roxas couldn't do anything about it.

 

Jeff kicked Roxas shin and then then brought his other foot off the wall and brought his hand off Roxas' shoulder, turning it into a fist aiming to punch Roxas in the abdomen so that he would lose his breath. He pulled back his fist and took his aim, launching it forward.
