Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return V2

"...Right," Roxas agreed. The couch, he needed to find the couch. He took his hand off the wall and stood up straight, taking a step forward, but all that occurred was his head spinning even worse. Roxas stopped, one of his feet moving ahead of the other slightly so he could try to keep his balance. He lifted a hand to his head, his coat left forgotten on the floor.

 

"Roxas?" Namine said in worry, seeing that he appeared dizzy. Even when he stood still, her hands were out from her sides slightly, just in case anything happened. If she had been worried before, than the emotion was ten times stronger now. She had seen Roxas hurt a few times before, but he never seemed as bad as he was now.

 

Roxas's head seemed to pound more, and hearing Namine speak seemed to worsen the pain; he knew then that his head was sensitive, probably from the blow he took against the wall. He winced faintly, closing his eyes. Closing his eyes, though, didn't seem to stop his dizziness. Roxas side-stepped and his shoulder met the wall. He felt like he was going to pass out.

 

Namine took two steps closer to Roxas, lifting a hand without thought and setting it on his arm that wasn't up against the wall. She tilted her head to try and get a better look at his expression, the girl aware that her heart was beating irregularly because of her worry.

 

Roxas felt Namine's touch and really wished it calmed him, but he didn't feel any difference within him. He opened his eyes to look in her direction, but everything was still blurry. He blinked a couple times, trying to get rid of it, but then things slowly started to spot. He knew then that his exhaustion was becoming overwhelming, and his injuries were only making darkness grow closer; Roxas was going to pass out.

 

Namine's eyes widened slightly at the look in Roxas' ocean blue orbs, the girl seeing a look that she could identify--pure exhaustion. "Let me help you get to the couch," she said softly, though the concern came through in her tone. She took her hand off Roxas' arm and gently put it over her shoulder, her arm going behind Roxas' back to support him.

 

Roxas didn't say anything, and instead let Namine lead. He kept his free hand against his head, the entrance hall beginning to spin. He remembered passing out in Twilight Town a very long time ago, in his, Hayner's, Olette's, and Pence's spot. It didn't take long, which meant that this wouldn't either.

 

Namine took Roxas into the living room, sitting herself down on the couch next to him as she lowered him down onto the furniture. When they were sitting, she pulled back the arm that had been behind Roxas' back, figuring that it would be more comfortable for him that way.

 

Roxas instantly leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees and his head in his hands. It was pounding brutally and he still felt light-headed. "Namine..." he managed after a moment of silence. "I think...I'm gonna pass out." He was staring at the floor, and it slowly started to spot more, until everything began to turn black. Roxas blinked rapidly to try and clear it, but it was no use. On top of the spinning and his fading sight, there was nothing he could do.

 

Namine's heart skipped a beat at the words, but she forced herself to remain calm on the outside. "It's alright," she assured him softly. She reached a hand toward Roxas' closest shoulder, setting a hand on it and lightly giving it pressure so he would lean back into the couch. If he was going to fade out of consciousness, he should at least stay on the couch instead of falling onto the floor.

 

Roxas let his body be guided by Namine's hand, and he felt the back of the couch against his back. His hands were at his sides, but as he stared at his dirty jeans, everything changed. The pounding in his head started to grow softer, Namine's touch began to fade, and his sight blackened until he couldn't see anything but darkness. Roxas felt his eyes close slowly and then everything went black, the boy's head lightly falling to the side.

 

Namine looked at Roxas for a long time, even after he faded out of consciousness. And while she looked at him, she couldn't help but lightly run her fingers over his shoulder. She doubted he would recognize her presence now, but she just wanted to be in contact with him anyway, for her own sake.

 

A few hours later...

The first thing Roxas recognized was the pain. It him hard, like he was being thrown against a brick wall. Even in the darkness of unconsciousness, he recognized that there was truth behind that comparison. The throbbing in his head slowly grew in intensity, and the ache in his pack gradually returned. His senses were coming back to him, but all he could recognize in the darkness was silence.

 

During the few hours where Roxas had been unconscious, Namine hadn't left her spot on the couch. The only difference was her position, the girl leaning her head against the side of the couch. Her hand was also holding onto Roxas' lightly as she sat there with her eyes open halfway. She hadn't slept at all, unable to because of everything going on in her mind and heart.

 

Roxas's pain grew worse as his senses started to return to him. His head pounded even worse and his body ached, his mouth having a terrible taste of acid; his blood. But that wasn't all he recognized. There wasn't only silence, but he was warm. He couldn't register where he was, but it was comfortable, despite his pain. As he started to wake up, the pounding in Roxas's head turned sharp, causing him to groan faintly, his hand squeezing the one holding his without thought.

 

Namine blinked twice, coming out of her thoughts when she felt Roxas' hand squeeze hers. She heard him groan as well, and that made her eyes soften as she brought the side of her head of the couch. She looked down at their hands and silently started running her thumb over his skin, her eyes following the motion.

 

Roxas felt the motion against his hand, feeling comforted by the touch. But then he suddenly tensed, wincing at the aching and throbbing pain that occurred in his body. His eyebrows furrowed, and he knew that the pain was bringing him out of his slumber. But at the same time, he wanted to fade back into unconsciousness; the darkness held no pain and no fear. Nothing bothered him there.

 

Namine continued her gesture, politely keeping her eyes away from Roxas' face when he winced. She hated that he was obviously in pain, but she didn't know what she could do to help. She wasn't put into this position often, and when she was, she always felt powerless, like she was incapable of helping those she loved.

 

Darkness... That's what you are. The voice rang in Roxas's head, but he didn't argue; he agreed. He had even been told so a long time ago, but never truly believed it. Now that he found comfort in the darkness, he couldn't do anything but. Roxas willed himself to return to the blackness, not wanting to deal with reality and the pain.

 

Namine gave Roxas' hand a gentle squeeze, her eyes wandering down to the floor as she stopped her gesture. She couldn't say for sure why she stopped for sure, just that she didn't feel like it anymore. She was still holding his hand; that was good enough.
