Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return V2

Roxas let the silence settle in, the boy keeping his eyes closed as his arms stayed wrapped around the girl he loved. But that was when he realized there was nothing to really distract him. He felt his pain come back, and he held back any sounds of pain for Namine's sake. She was suffering enough; she didn't need to worry about him either.

 

Namine exhaled a breath, her head resting on its side on Roxas' shoulder. She had to say it, just in case there was never another chance to. "Thank you," she whispered, subconsciously holding him a little tighter. But her embrace remained gentle, since her deeper-leveled thoughts were reminding her that Roxas was hurt.

 

Roxas's pain subsided for the moment, allowing him to smile a little. "Of course," he said softly. He wouldn't have it any other way; Namine was the angel, he was just the guardian. It was how it was meant to be.

 

Namine opened her eyes a little bit, seeing that her head was facing towards the television, which was turned off. But that wasn't the only thing she was facing; Ty was standing in front of them, just looking at them. Namine was glad her pet wasn't interfering like he normally did; she desperately needed this moment with Roxas.

 

Roxas's smile dimmed as silence engulfed the room again, and he allowed his eyes to open. He stared forward, his eyes directed to a window to the side of the couch. He looked outside as he felt his pain come back again, though not as powerfully. The pills were kicking in, he assumed. And he was sure that Namine's presence was helping as well.

 

And then, of course, Ty had to do something that displeased Namine. He started sniffing at her knee, then stepping closer and smelling her elbow. She felt his whiskers against her skin, and it tickled, but not in a way that was amusing at all; it was actually a little irritating.

 

Roxas caught movement out of the corner of his eye, and he turned his head slightly when he heard the soft sniffling sound. His eyes fell on Namine's loyal companion, who seemed interested in his master's condition. Roxas kept his hold on her, regardless, not really wanting to let go yet.

 

Namine pulled her arm away from Ty, though she was forced to not have it around Roxas' back anymore. The movement had felt like it was irritating her skin, and it was still uncomfortable. She wished she could rub it with her other hand, but she wasn't willing to undo her embrace around Roxas.

 

Roxas lowered his sight to Namine when she moved, his blue eyes falling on what he could see of her face. She seemed better, expression-wise. That was good, but he had a feeling that she could be shaken up for the next few days. He would be with her, though. Roxas couldn't imagine being away from her after all that happened earlier today.

 

Ty went onto sniffing her jeans, but Namine ignored him to the best of her ability, shutting her eyes and setting her free hand on the front of Roxas' shoulder. Though they hadn't really talked about anything, she could tell that the air felt a little lighter. Earlier, she had lied and told Roxas she was alright, even if she obviously wasn't. She supposed that what happened just now brought things into the light, even if it was just a little bit.

 

Roxas's eyes lingered on Namine for a bit longer before he looked over at Ty. He hadn't noticed when the dog woke up, but it was probably when he moved to comfort Namine; Ty had been lying on his feet, after all. Roxas secured his embrace a little more around Namine, letting his cheek lean lightly against the top of her head.

 

Namine took in a soft breath and then released it, the air leaving being a tiny bit shaky. She had released a lot of emotion through her sobs, but she had plenty more bottled up inside. But she was too emotionally drained to express any of that now, and she was glad in a way. She didn't want to break down crying in front of Roxas again, or start trembling. However, she had a feeling that he woudl be seeing her a lot in the near future, and she would also have breakdowns along the way. Unfortunately, this wouldn't be a one-time occurrence.

 

Roxas felt a little better. He was holding Namine, which definitely eased some of his troubles, and the pills were actually taking away the pain. Unfortunately, the relief was only temporary. He felt slightly drowsy, tired from today's events and thinking that maybe the pills had the same side-effect. However, he held onto Namine, not wanting to let go.

 

Namine sensed that Ty was laying down now, so she wrapped her arm around Roxas' back again, since Ty wouldn't be sniffing at it now. She loved that dog, but sometimes he was just a pain in the butt. Oh well, she knew that no pet could be perfect.

 

Roxas closed his eyes again, both at his tiredness and the pain. It was definitely lessening, but at the same time, the pills made him want to sleep. But he didn't want to leave Namine up alone again.

 

Namine stayed where she was, unaware of just how tired Roxas was feeling. If she had known, she would have asked him if he would be more comfortable in a different position. Even if she wanted to stay in his arms, his physical health had to be the priority here.

 

"...How're you feeling?" Roxas asked. For the past few minutes he'd been worrying about himself, but now he was curious as to how Namine was. They'd been holding each other for a while, and she wasn't crying anymore. He assumed that was good.

 

Namine shut her eyes at the question, wondering how she could answer that. Of course she still didn't feel great, but she wasn't afraid anymore. "I'm better," she whispered, deciding that was the best response she could give. As long as she was in Roxas' arms, she would be okay.

 

"Good." Roxas was actually relieved at that answer, even if it didn't necessarily mean she was great. He was just happy Namine had calmed down and let him help her the best he could; it let him know that she still trusted him, which was always good to see. As long as she was feeling better, then he was doing alright as well.

 

"How about you?" Namine asked softly, not sure if she was asking how he was doing physically or emotionally. She would take whatever answer Roxas would give her and allow him to percieve the question in his own way instead of specifying one or the other.
