Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return V2

Roxas nodded slightly against the pillow, gazing at Namine for a moment longer before his eyes fell closed. It was then that he realized how tired he truly was; his eyelids were so heavy that he didn't think he could open them again if he wanted to. He was going to sleep, and that was good enough for him.

 

Namine looked at Roxas a few moments longer before she faced forward, not wanting to make him feel awkward because she couldn't take her eyes off him. He really was her angel...she couldn't believe she was so blessed. It was true that things weren't always easy in their relationship, especially recently. But they loved each other through it all.

 

Roxas took in a deep breath and exhaled it in the silence, his body already beginning to relax from the tension he had felt for the past few hours. He was glad that it was starting to disappear, because all he really wanted was a peaceful sleep. It reached him sooner than he thought, because in just a few moments, he left consciousness.

 

A Few Hours Later

Namine sat in the same position she had been in earlier, the room dark now that night had fallen. She didn't know what time it was, but she was having a very hard time staying awake. She wasn't ready for whatever sleep held for her, so somehow she had managed to stay conscious for the period of time when Roxas slept. Also surprisingly, she managed to stay leaning up against the couch without being overly uncomfortable.

 

Roxas felt the darkness of his unconscious lifting, and after a minute, he released a soft breath. He moved his head slightly to the side and took in another breath before peeking his eyes open. He blinked slowly and then opened them fully, recognizing the back of the couch right in front of him. He was still too groggy to register any pain or think about his injuries, the boy groaning slightly from sleep.

 

Beside Namine, who was half-asleep now, Ty stirred, rising up to his feet. His nose accidentally nudged Namine's elbow, waking the girl up a little bit. She tried to ignore him and fall asleep, but at the same time trying to stay awake. It was hard to decide which one she really wanted when she was so exhausted.

 

Roxas turned his head in the other direction, then noticing how dark the room around him was. What time was it? He must have slept for hours if it was dark already. The boy brought a hand up and ran it over his face, trying to wake himself up. Namine was still next to him; he couldn't only see her, but also sense her presence.

 

Ty barked at Roxas, wagging his tail excitedly now that the boy was awake. The dog's actions and noise made Namine furrow her brows tiredly, turning her head away from Ty a little bit in an attempt to avoid his swaying body. He sure was excited to see Roxas; he must have forgotten that Namine was sitting beside him on the ground, half-conscious.

 

Roxas looked at Ty and then brought a finger to his lips. "Shh!" he shushed the dog quietly, not wanting him to be too loud. If Namine was sleeping, then it would wake her, and it could possibly cause his headache to return. He liked seeing Ty so excited and happy, but he did need to quiet down.

 

Ty sat back down beside Namine, facing Roxas while he kept wagging his tail. He panted in Roxas' general direction, but the warm air was going into Namine's ear as well, since the dog was so close to her. She brought up a hand and tiredly turned Ty's face away from hers, turning her head as well to avoid the dog breath.

 

Roxas couldn't help but chuckle a little in the dimness of the room, glancing at Namine before looking back at Ty. The boy moved his arms and started to push himself up, aiming to distract Ty once he was sitting up so he would let Namine be. It was clear she didn't want Ty so close.

 

Namine felt Ty push back against her hand and she gave up, not bothering with him anymore. Ty must have thought she was playing a game, because he then started sniffing at her face, then licking her cheek several times.

 

Roxas sighed softly once he was sitting up, and he scooted over a little before swinging his legs off the couch and let his feet touch the floor. He clicked his tongue softly and offered a hand out to Ty.

 

After feeling Ty lick her one more time, she felt the dog move a step over, focusing his attention on something else. Namine exhaled a soft breath, turning her head in that direction but keeping her eyes shut. She leaned the side of her head against something, and in her tired state, she realized that it was somebody's knee.

 

Roxas's hand found Ty's head at the same moment Namine's head rested against his knee. He smiled slightly at the girl, rubbing behind Ty's ear with one hand while the other came up and rested on top of her head. From what he could see of her face, Namine looked exhausted.

 

Namine exhaled a soft breath, feeling a light hand on top of her head. She tiredly realized that it was Roxas, and that he must have woken up. She wasn't sure now if she wanted to wake up more so that she could spend time with him or fall asleep because she was so tired, but her body was favoring the second scenario.

 

"Namine?" Roxas tried softly, attempting to get through to the girl that looked like she was about to fall asleep. "Go get some sleep. Okay?" After everything that happened earlier, she deserved some rest. And a comfortable one at that; he preferred that she slept in her bed, rather than the couch. But it was ultimately her decision on what she wanted to do.

 

"I don't wanna," Namine mumbled, her voice showing her exhaustion. She was afraid of nightmares now, after everything that had happened. True, she had gotten used to nightmares during her two months alone, but she had a feeling that whatever dreams she had about this would be too terrifying to ignore.

 

"But you're exhausted," Roxas replied gently, moving his hand and pushing her hair back slightly. She couldn't force herself to stay up for his sake, if that was what she was doing. Actually, by the way things appeared, she wouldn't be able to stay away much longer.

 

"Mmm," Namine hummed, not quite sure what her sleepy response meant. She couldn't disagree with Roxas; she really was exhausted. But she wanted to be with him, and away from the nightmares that would surely come once she faded out of consciousness.
