Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return V2

Roxas walked with Namine and after a moment he released her arm. He figured she had a good handle on things now, but he still kept his hand against her back. Just because.

 

Namine kept her eyes on the ground, her house dark. It had been bright earlier when Roxas had fallen asleep, and she hadn't bothered to turn on any lights when night came around. But it didn't matter; she knew this house well, and so did Roxas.

 

Roxas turned down the hallway, guiding Namine as well. It was moments like these that made him happy that Namine's house was like a second home to him; he knew where and when to turn, even if it was dark or he wasn't looking. Roxas continued down the hallway, almost to Namine's room now.

 

Namine's feet were dragging along the carpet with each step, but she felt her right one drag longer during one step and she stumbled, having a hard time catching her balance because of how exhausted she was.

 

Roxas's eyes widened and he reached forward instinctively, wrapping his arm closest to her around Namine's torso to catch her. His other hand grabbed her upper arm to steady her. Once he caught her, he paused. "Easy," he told her softly, looking at her.

 

Namine looked down, exhaling a breath when she felt Roxas steady her without any problems. She looked over at him when he spoke, her eyes soft with tiredness and gratitude at the same time.

 

Roxas locked eyes with Namine and held her gaze for a second before loosening his hold on her. He motioned with his head toward her door, which was only a few more feet away.

 

Namine glanced at the doorway before she lowered her head, exhaling a breath as she forced her feet forward. Her eyes were shut completely now, so she was trusting Roxas to lead her into her bedroom and not into a wall. Of course, if she were really that concerned about that happening, she could have forced her eyes open.

 

Roxas kept his arm around Namine's waist, walking with her until they reached her door. He guided her inside, the moonlight through the window providing enough illumination for him to see her bed. He started toward it, directing Namine in silence.

 

Namine felt Roxas lead her into her bedroom, the girl recognizing it only because they turned into the room instead of continuing to go straight down the hall. Sleep was starting to sound really good now, and she was too exhausted to factor in the possibility of getting a nightmare or two.

 

Roxas slowed as they approached the bed, and brought his arm away from Namine's waist. He pulled Namine's covers back and then gently guided her to sit on the mattress.

 

Namine opened her eyes a little, feeling Roxas guide her so that she was now sitting down on the matress. She noticed that he pulled back the covers, and without thought, she laid down her head landing on the pillow and her eyes falling shut. She was so tired she was dizzy now, and she knew she had to sleep.

 

Roxas pulled the covers back up and tucked them around Namine. When he was done, he looked down at her with a small smile. "Get some sleep. I'll be right here when you wake up," he whispered gently. He wouldn't break that promise to her; she wanted him there, and he was going to stay.

 

Namine set a hand on the pillow in front of her, hearing Roxas' promise. She thought it was funny how he insisted she sleep, which was a part of their original "agreement." "Alright," she murmured, feeling ready to pass out even if she had only been in bed for a few seconds.

 

Roxas put a hand on Namine's headboard to steady himself as he leaned down, kissing Namine gently on the forehead. He pulled back after a second, looking down at her before walking over to the bean bag in one corner of her room. He silently sat down in it, his eyes trained on the bed, where the love of his life would soon fall asleep.

 

Namine turned onto her side a little more, curling up under the covers in a relaxed position. She had felt Roxas' lips on her forehead, and the feeling of him doing that calmed her enough to make it so she instantly fell asleep, no dreams haunting her.

 

One month later...

Kairi walked beside Namine on the streets of the city, her coat hugging her figure and blocking out most of the chill from the weather. She had gotten a hold of Roxas a few days after the little incident in the alley, and he was with Namine when she called, so she had asked them how they were doing. When she heard the story, she was shocked, but she was just relieved her friends were alright. Ever since then, she had tried to be by her friends' sides every day, as long as Nathan didn't demand attention from her as well. Yesterday, though, Roxas called her and had an idea. Of course she had agreed to it immediately, instantly recognizing how sweet and loving of a plan it was. It led both her and Namine to where they were now, approaching a clothing store in the shopping district of NYC.

 

Namine looked around as she and Kairi walked on the sidewalk, her hands folded in front of her. Kairi had insisted they they have a day together, just shopping and doing something stress-free. Of course, just leaving the house was stressful for Namine. She didn't like going out, especially without Roxas. It was a wonder that Kairi convinced her to do this at all, and she couldn't help but feel a bit frightened. Of course, she kept those emotions to herself, knowing that Kairi was trying very hard to get her to have fun and smile.

 

Kairi led the way, stepping into the store ahead of Namine. She had been here a few times before, and instantly saw the area full of sundresses farther in the store. She had to convince Namine to get one for her special night, which she still had no idea about. Of course, Kairi wasn't going to let it slip; she wouldn't do that and ruin Roxas's sweet surprise for his girlfriend. Namine deserved the lovely moment, and Kairi wasn't going to take it away from her with a slip of the tongue.

 

Namine stepped into the store after Kairi, escaping the cool air. It was late January, so the weather was still chilly on most days. Once they were in the store, she couldn't help but let her eyes wander, looking over the various shirts, skirts, and dresses. She saw some cute skirts, but they looked a little too pricey for her taste. Hopefully not everything in the store was that expensive, or she wouldn't get anything.
