Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return V2

Kairi approached the dressing room area and came to a halt, looking back at Namine. She nodded to her, offering a gentle smile. She was sure she would look great in the dress. Hopefully it fit as well, because Namine seemed happy with her choice.

 

Namine caught onto Kairi's gesture, and she felt a warm smile appear on her lips. She stepped past her friend and walked a few steps into a dressing room, shutting the door behind her. She was excited to try this on, and she really hoped that it fit.

 

While Namine tried on her dress, Kairi waited outside. She leaned against the wall across from Namine's dressing room, her hands still linked behind her back. The position was comfortable for her, for some reason, and she found herself doing it a lot lately.

 

Namine finished taking off her own clothing and then put on the dress, zipping it up in the back. Once it was on, she couldn't help but look in the mirror and smile. It fit perfectly, and if she did say so herself, it looked really good on her. She took a step over to the door and opened it, stepping out so that Kairi could see her.

 

Kairi looked up from staring at her shoes, her eyes falling on Namine. When they did, they instantly widened and she gasped. "Namine!" she cooed, smiling. "It looks great!" And it did. She wanted to laugh at the thought of Roxas's face when he saw it; he would be stunned.

 

Namine felt her smile widen, her cheeks getting a little pink at Kairi's words as she looked down at the dress. "You think I should get it, then?" She knew the answer, but that was the only thing she could think to say at that moment, so she went with it.

 

"Mmhm," Kairi hummed in response, nodding. Wait until Roxas sees this! she thought in excitement, knowing there were still some steps left in their plan. "How much is it?" she asked then, though she didn't think it would really matter. The dress was too perfect to pass up.

 

Namine smiled, looking back up at Kairi. "Only twenty-five dollars," she said, excitement coming through in her voice. It was a great deal, and she was so glad that Kairi had convinced her to look for a dress. True, she didn't know when she would wear it, but at least she would have it for whenever that day came.

 

"Sounds like a good deal to me," Kairi said then, looking at the dress. It looked lovely, so she definitely thought it would suit tonight's events. Of course, Namine wasn't aware of them. Not yet, anyway.

 

Namine nodded, looking down at the dress one more time. "Okay," she said, feeling giddy. "I'm gonna get it." She smiled at Kairi before she turned to go into the dressing room again, needing to take off the sundress and put on her own clothes once more.

 

Kairi felt her smile soften once Namine went back into her dressing room, the girl happy that things were going according to plan. If Namine hadn't gotten the dress, things would have been unorderly and she would have had to tell Roxas that it wouldn't work so easily. But then again, if Namine hadn't found a dress, Kairi would have had to tell her that something special was going on and that she had to borrow one of the redhead's. But thankfully it didn't come to that; Namine was still clueless, and for the better.

 

Namine took off her lovely dress and put on her regular outfit, the clothing warm and comfortable. She hung the dress on the hanger and looked at it for a second, smiling softly. She loved the dress, and she was excited for whenever she had a chance to wear it. Of course, she doubted that day would come any time soon. She reached down and grabbed her purse, putting it over her shoulder before she exited the dressing room with her sundress in hand.

 

Kairi stood up straight once Namine came back out, her hands coming to her sides. Okay, phase one complete. Now she just needed to get Namine home, where her special evening awaited her.

 

Namine glanced at the dress in her hand before looking to Kairi, her sky blue eyes landing on her best friend. "Are you gonna get anything?" she asked. She didn't want to leave the store without being sure that Kairi didn't want anything, because doing that would be quite rude and self-centered.

 

Kairi shook her head and smiled softly. "I didn't really find anything," she said. She wasn't completely lying; she was looking mostly for Namine anyway, so she didn't pay attention to her own style. And she didn't have much money on her in the first place.

 

Namine nodded, taking a few steps forward. "Okay, so I'll pay right away and then we can get going." It was getting closer to evening, and that meant that it was going to get dark outside. And she really didn't want to walk home in the dark, not one bit.

 

"Okay." Kairi hoped that Roxas would be ready in time. She had given him a recipe, knowing that he wasn't the best cook in the world, and hoped that he had it under control. But he seemed very calm and cool about it yesterday, when he talked to her about it. She wasn't exactly worried; she could always buy time, somehow.

 

A few minutes later, Namine finished paying for her item, and the cashier put it into a bag for her. "Thank you," she said politely, taking the bag and holding onto the handle after she put away her wallet. She turned around to see Kairi waiting for her, and she felt a soft smile appear on her lips. "Ready?"

 

Kairi realized then that they were going back outside, and she tugged at the straps that tied around her waist. "Yup. Let's go," she said, offering a smile toward Namine before turning toward the exit, ready to get on with the rest of her and Roxas's plan.

 

The walk home took Namine and Kairi about twenty minutes, but it was alright. The weather wasn't as bad as it had been earlier that winter, and it was only starting to get darker when she and Kairi got nearer to her home. They approached Namine's front door, and once they were there, she sat her bag on the ground, digging through her purse for her keys. "I hope Ty isn't too hungry," she said, thinking aloud. She hadn't fed him in a few hours, so she would have to take care of that pretty soon.
