Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return V2

Roxas heard quick footsteps and turned around, holding his breath. That was when he saw Ty trotting through the kitchen doorway and toward him at the stove. He sighed in relief. "Don't do that, boy," he said softly, shaking his head with a small smile at Ty before turning back to the noodles. They were finished, so he felt another sense of relief from that. Good, things were going according to plan so far.

Kairi held her coat in her arms and watched Ty go. Her small smile faded, getting the feeling that the dog was going back to where Roxas probably was. Oh well, she had to get Namine to her room anyway.

 

Namine rose to her feet, keeping her eyes on the doorway that Ty went through. That was weird, she thought, tilting her head slightly in thought. He never left her that quickly, and he didn't even say hello to Kairi. Maybe he was going to get a chew-toy or something? Namine was curious, and she would have followed Ty, but she didn't want to be rude to Kairi, since she was technically a guest in her home.

 

"So, you wanna put your dress up?" Kairi asked, thinking that it was a good way to get Namine to her room. After all, Namine always did take good care of her clothes, especially dresses. She figured once they got in there, she could switch things up and convince Namine to let her dress her up. Of course, she'd say it was just for fun.

 

Namine looked down to the bag on her wrist, taking in Kairi's suggestion. "Yeah, good idea," she said with a nod, glancing over her shoulder at Kairi. "You could wait here if you want; it shouldn't take long." There wasn't much point in Kairi following her back to her room when she hung up her dress and coat and then coming right back out to the living room.

 

"Actually," Kairi started, thinking quickly for an excuse to follow Namine to her room. That was when she got it. "You know how I was over here the day before yesterday? I think I left my bracelet in your room, the one Nathan got for me. Can I see if it's there?" She tilted her head to the side slightly, feigning concern in her eyes. The bracelet was actually at Kairi's house, on her dresser. She'd forgotten to wear it today, but good thing she didn't.

 

"Oh," Namine said, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear with her free hand. "Yeah, you can look. I didn't see it in there, but that could have been because I wasn't looking. C'mon." She turned and headed in the direction of the hallway, trusting that Kairi would be right behind her.

 

Kairi nodded and followed behind Namine toward her bedroom. Okay, so the excuse had worked. Now she just had to convince Namine to dress up. Roxas had about fifteen more minutes. Doing Namine's hair and makeup would take that much time, so he should be okay...

 

Namine turned on the light in her bedroom the moment she entered, hitting the switch by the door. Then she headed straight for the bed, setting down her purse and the bag the dress was in. Before she hung that up, she would take off her coat and shoes. She started working on the buttons on her coat right away, not needing her coat due to her house being so warm.

 

Kairi headed for Namine's dresser once she entered the room, her coat still draped over her arm. She approached the dresser and looked over it, seeing that Namine had some jewelry and such of her own on the surface. She tilted her head to the side after a minute of "looking" for the bracelet. "Hmm. It's not here," she said softly. "Maybe I grabbed it before I went home or something. I really don't remember." Kairi turned her head to look at Namine, giggling lightly as she shrugged.

 

Namine smiled at her friend, walking over to her closet and taking off her coat. "Hm. Yeah, I hope you have it, because I have no idea where else it could be," she confessed, hanging up her coat. She then slipped off her shoes, putting them right into the closet.

 

"I'm sure it's at home, if not here," Kairi said. "I didn't leave my house yesterday, and I don't have it today, so it's probably in my room..." She trailed off, as if thinking about it, but she was really thinking about what she could say to Namine to get her dressed and ready for her date with Roxas.

 

Namine turned around to her bed, taking the dress out of the bag so that she could hang it up in the closet. "You'll have to check when you get home," she said, hearing her friend trail off. "Let me know if you find it, okay?"

 

"I will," Kairi said, looking up from her sock-covered feet. She noticed that Namine had a hold of the dress, and she bit her lip. Think of something, Kairi, she ordered herself. "Hey, you know what would be fun? A makeover!" She grinned, feeling giddy. That wasn't an act; she really hadn't helped anyone dress up for anything in a long time. It would be fun for her to help Namine get ready.

 

Namine stopped right in front of her closet, still holding her dress. She turned her head to look at Kairi, arching a brow at the suggestion. "A makeover?" she repeated, doubtful. She did really like wearing makeup in the first place, so it was always a little weird when somebody else wanted to do it for her.

 

Kairi nodded enthusiastically. "Yeah. When was the last time we just did each other's hair and makeup for fun?" Her smile softened as she realized how long it had been. Things weren't like they used to be. Not anymore. Not since Roxas and... Kairi forced the thought of--that thought out of her mind. She told herself she wasn't going to think about it anymore.

 

"It's been a while," Namine agreed with a faint nod. They hadn't done that for months, at least that much. She couldn't remember the last time they had done makeovers, and she didn't try very hard to remember the specific date. "But why now?" She didn't have anywhere to be and no reason to look pretty, so why did Kairi want to do her makeup?

 

Kairi blinked, focusing her attention on the conversation at hand. She shrugged. "I dunno," she said. "I guess I'm just feeling creative." Her eyes darted to the clothing still in Namine's hand. "Oh, and then you can see how you look with the dress on! With your hair and makeup done, I'm sure you'd look great!"

 

Namine shrugged, glancing down at the dress in her hand. Kairi was acting pretty giddy, and she thought it was a little odd for her friend to get so excited over a makeover. But she and Kairi hadn't really had any "girl time" together lately, so maybe she could give in this one time and let Kairi do her thing. "Alright," she said with a sigh, complying for the sake of her best friend. She hung the dress on the knob so it would be in view before she went to go sit on her bed. "Nothing crazy though, okay?" She didn't want globs of makeup on if she was just going to wash it off before bed that night.

 

Kairi put her hands on her hips and tilted her head to the side. "Come on, Namine. You know I'm not that crazy with makeup," she said with a small smile. For a minute she thought about Selphie, and how she would say the same thing to the brunette. She guessed she was acting a little like her, but it couldn't be helped; Kairi was excited for Namine, who still didn't know her true motives with this makeover.

 

Namine felt a smile appear on her lips as she sat down on the edge of her bed. "True," she said, agreeing. "But still, not too much. I don't wanna have a ton on just to wash it off before I go to bed, you know?" Not only would it have been a waste of makeup, but it would have also been a waste of time.
