Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return V2

Kairi moved through the room and grabbed Namine's makeup bag. "Don't be silly. You'll look great, and you won't want to take it off right away," she said. She winked at Namine before also going into the bathroom and turning on Namine's curling iron.

 

Namine arched a brow, seeing her best friend go into the bathroom. She didn't understand what Kairi's words meant, but she assumed that she just meant that the makeover would look so good, that she wouldn't want to undo it. Well, no matter how good it looked, she would have to wash it off before bed; it was unhealthy to leave makeup on all night.

 

It only took Kairi about ten minutes to complete Namine's look. She did her makeup first, putting on a little eyeliner, mascara, and eyeshadow. Of course, that didn't take long. So once she had finished with that, she took Namine to the bathroom so she could do her hair. She only curled the tips of Namine's hair slightly, making it look just a tiny bit dressier. Once Namine had her dress on, though, Kairi smiled at her work. The blond looked fantastic, just as she had said earlier.

 

Namine stood in front of the mirror on the back of her bedroom door, looking at her reflection. "I can't believe you talked me into this," she said to Kairi, a few laughs leaving her lips. Makeovers were rare occurrences, and she had to admit, she looked very nice. But looking over herself now, it was a real shame she didn't have any place to be.

 

"But you agree that you look great, right?" Kairi said, looking at Namine from behind her, in the mirror. She really did look nice, all gussied up with her hair and makeup and the dress. Roxas was sure to love it. Speaking of, he should be done with everything by now. It had been about twenty or twenty-five minutes since she last talked to him.

Roxas lit the candles on the dining room table and snapped the lighter shut, slipping it into his pocket. He then moved into the living room, the piano being his destination. Everything was set--the dinner was done and on their plates, Ty was ready, and so was he. All that was left to do was to cue Kairi.

 

Namine stiffled a giggle, lifting a hand to bring a little bit of hair over her shoulder. "It does look good," she agreed, unable to say anything negative about her appearance. Kairi had done a good job, and her makeup went very well with her dress. The colors in the dress and in the makeup make her eyes shine a little more brightly, but it still looked natural. Sometime, she would have to have Kairi teach her how to do her makeup like that, because it looked terrific.

 

Kairi smiled, nodding at her friend's words and in satisfaction. Now once Roxas was ready, so was Namine. This was going to be great, she could feel it.

Roxas reached the piano and sat down. His eyes fell on the keys as he took a deep breath, preparing to play the song he had performed for Namine not long ago. He lifted his hands above the correct piano keys and then began to play the beginning notes of the song, the living room and surely the rest of the home being filled with the music.

 

Namine subconsciously bit her lip, lowering her hand so that she wouldn't tuck back a strand of hair and mess up the hairdo. After all of Kairi's hard work, it would have been a shame to undo it. She looked at herself in the mirror, though after a few seconds, she furrowed her eyebrows a tiny bit. Did she hear...music?

 

Kairi looked toward the door, able to hear Roxas's piano playing. She smiled to herself, biting her lip to keep it from growing. She looked back at Namine, a hint of happiness in her eyes. Her friends were going to have an amazing evening, and she was glad that Roxas was so kind and sweet to come up with it.

Roxas continued to play the song, cueing Kairi and letting her know that everything was set and ready. Namine... She was surely going to look beautiful. He hadn't seen her all day, and when Kairi volunteered to help her get ready, he had no doubt that she would look even more terrific than usual. His hands moved along the keys as he focused, the small smile that had come across his face disappearing as he played the notes of the familiar tune.

 

Namine blinked, listening for a few more seconds. Yup, there was definitely music being played. Or was she going crazy? "Kairi?" she asked, turning her head to look over at her best friend. "Do you hear...a piano?" She hoped the answer was "yes", because otherwise, she would feel pretty stupid.

 

Kairi linked her hands behind her back and controlled her smile enough to make it kind. "You should go check it out," she said softly, looking toward the door briefly before moving her gaze back to Namine. As the music continued to play, the redhead found it very soothing and lovely, something only fitting for tonight. Roxas had come up with a brilliant idea, and she was sure Namine was going to love it.

 

Namine blinked, realizing that not only did Kairi hear the music, but she wasn't alarmed by it. She herself wasn't alarmed by it, because she recognized the song as one that only Roxas knew. But...why was he...? The question trailed off in her mind, the girl unable to think of anything. She lifted a hand and set it on the knob, pulling the door open. She was really curious now...and confused. What was going on?

 

Kairi watched Namine, and once she opened the door the music was louder. She stayed where she was, in the middle of Namine's room, as her friend was about to discover what was waiting for her. Or who, actually.

Roxas's fingers moved along the piano skillfully, ending the first chorus of the song and moving on. He couldn't wait until she realized what was going on. He knew she wasn't fond of many surprises, but he hoped that this, like the last few, was going to be an exception.

 

Namine hesitated for a brief second, the confusion causing her to want to remain still and think things out. But the sooner she went out, the sooner she could find out what was happening. She walked through the hall and to the living room, stopping when she was two steps in. Roxas was at her piano, playing a song and...dressed up in a nice shirt and pants?

 

Kairi followed Namine after grabbing her coat, draping it over her arm and leaving the bedroom.

Roxas continued playing the song without any interruptions, but he could sense a presence. It was gentle and he smiled to himself as he pressed notes. He was almost done.

 

Namine stayed where she was, frozen by confusion and curiosity. What was Roxas doing here in the first place? If he was here, why didn't he come and say hello? Why was he sitting at the piano, playing the song he had played a while back? There were so many questions in Namine's mind that she couldn't focus on just one, so she tried to tune it all out and just listen to the piano.

 

Roxas played for a little longer and then brought the song to a clean end. His hands stayed on the keys for a moment, and then he lifted them, at the same time lifting his gaze. His eyes fell on Namine across the room and he was stunned into silence, his blue orbs lingering on her. She looked beautiful.

 

Namine blinked, seeing Roxas staring at her. She looked down a little and realized that she was all dressed up and she blushed. She had forgotten about the makeover and her dress when she realized Roxas was in her home. But she wasn't the only one who looked nice; Roxas did too. Why was that?

 

Roxas took in a breath and felt himself grow a little nervous. When was the last time he and Namine did something like this? And when was the last time he actually felt this way? Namine always looked beautiful, but tonight... She looked amazing. He tore his eyes away from Namine when he saw Kairi come around the corner and stop in the doorway. He glanced at Namine and smiled as he stood, moving his gaze back to the redhead. "Thanks for your help, Kairi. I can take it from here," he said, nodding toward her once in appreciation.

Kairi nodded in return, smiling softly. "No problem," she said, glancing at Namine. She smiled at her best friend before moving past her and through the room to reach the back door and grab her shoes.

 

Namine looked from Roxas to Kairi and then back to Roxas, eyes expressing her confusion. "What...?" she tried, though she couldn't think of any way to finish that question. There were a lot of things here that she didn't understand, though she now had a hunch that her makeover and overall appearance weren't just coincidence. Somehow, for some reason, she had been set up.
