Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return V2

Kairi stared at the back of Sora's head, hesitating with her answer. She wanted to tell him that she wasn't going to leave without him, but at the same time, she knew the attempt would be useless; he would just tell her to forget about him and go anyway. "Okay," she answered finally, looking over his shoulder again when the large dragon stomped toward them once more, hissing.

 

The moment Kairi answered, Sora prepared himself to charge forward. But he heard an awful rumbling sound and he lifted his eyes just in time to see something coming crashing down on him. He jumped to the side, but it caught his foot, pinning him to the ground underneath the rubble's large weight. A cry of pain left his lips, feeling as if his ankle were broken.

 

Kairi gasped, jumping slightly from the fallen debris. When she saw what happened to the boy who was protecting her, she couldn't help what she yelled next. "Sora!" she cried, but she didn't have time to stare; Nathaniel's loud footsteps caught her attention beyond her worry, the redhead seeing him gradually beginning to approach.

 

Sora summoned away his Keyblades, moving both hands to the rubble that was on top of his ankle. He grunted and tried to push it off his foot, but he was at an awkward angle; he couldn't get under it. His eyes widened when he looked in front of him, seeing Nathaniel getting dangerously close. Get out of this, Sora! he told himself, burying his panic so it didn't cloud his judgment. There had to be a way out of this.

 

Kairi looked down at Sora again, seeing him struggle, before her eyes found Nathaniel. She felt herself begin to panic, but she didn't know what to do!

Nathaniel took another step forward, his footstep giving out a low thud. He released a short roar as a threat, his dark green eyes looking directly at Sora. He wanted to breathe fire, but the Princess was right next to the Keyblade master.

 

Got it! Sora thought, coming up with something. He shut his eyes tightly, using most of his magic for what he was about to do next. The Kingdom Key appeared in his grasp, and then he did what he saw as his only option. Stop! he mentally cried, freezing time. When he saw the spell worked, he used what was left of his strength to shove the rock off his ankle, the teen having only needed a few more seconds to get it off of him.

 

Unbeknownst to him, Nathaniel was frozen by Sora's spell, his form in mid-step. His eyes, even if frozen in time, could be easily recognized as expressing darkness.

 

Sora looked to Kairi, trying to decide what to do. But he knew he didn't have enough time to take her frozen form out of the building; she would have to find her own way out. Sora ran, limping a little bit because of his ankle but sprinting nevertheless. He then jumped on Nathaniel's tail and ran up his back, stopping when he was by his neck. Using what was left of his magic, Sora's Keyblade tip began to glow, the teen shutting his eyes as he slashed at least ten times in the span of one second. And then, time began again.

 

Nathaniel didn't know what happened, but he blinked and Sora was gone, and there was a terrible pain in his neck. He cried out in pain, the scream loud leaving his throat.

Kairi jumped slightly in fright when Nathaniel started to roar, and she looked down to the ground, only to realize that Sora was no longer there. Confused, she looked back up at the dragon directly ahead of her, knowing that Sora must have done something to get him there so quickly. Kairi heard something crumble above her and as soon as she looked up, something started to fall. She stepped back, squealing slightly as the ceiling from the second floor fell down to where she had been recently standing.

 

Sora's eyes widened at Kairi's squeal, the teen able to see that she had barely missed the piece of rubble. He hit Nathaniel over the head one more time before he chucked Oathkeeper at a window, the Keyblade breaking through the glass so that it was an open spot. "Go!" Sora ordered Kairi, nodding his head toward the window before he began attacking again.

 

Kairi's eyes darted to Sora and then to the window he had broken. She hesitated slightly but ran over to the open spot like he had ordered, another one of Nathaniel's roars only pushing her more. She climbed up on a desk that was positioned right in front of the broken window, looking back one more time before she escaped the crumbling building.

 

Sora was aware that Kairi escaped, and he was glad. However, that didn't make him cease his attacks. He kept swinging, only to stop when he sensed something coming from the floor above him. He slid further down on Nathaniel's back, seeing a large piece of rubble falling directly for the dragon's head.

 

Nathaniel noticed that the attacks on his neck stopped after a moment, and he turned his head. He growled at Sora lowly, baring his teeth. But just then something hard fell on the top of his head, snapping his teeth shut and stunning the dragon.

 

Sora noticed that Nathaniel was stunned, and he looked up, eyes widening when he saw that the roof itself was collapsing. The whole building was coming down, right now! The brunet jumped off Nathaniel's back, landing on his bad ankle and falling onto one knee when a piece of rubble landed right where he had been standing. I have to get out of here!

 

Kairi stood in the middle of the empty street, turning around and looking up at the building when she heard a low rumble. She gasped when she saw a part of the brick building fall off on the side, and she knew instantly what was happening.

Nathaniel shook his head and his eyes focused once more, but Sora was no longer where he was last. The Prince's attention no longer was trained on that, however. He heard something from above and looked up, but not before another piece of rubble fell on the back of his already injured neck, causing him to whail in pain once more.

 

Sora picked himself up rapidly, seeing the building collapsing above him. He ran for the wooden door and rammed his shoulder into it, forcing it open. He came out on the other side, falling to the ground and tumbling a few times before he came to a stop on the edge of the street, on his stomach. He hit his head on the edge of the sidewalk before he stopped completely, making him see stars.

 

Kairi heard the door burst open and immediately saw Sora. She ran toward him instantly, at the same time looking up at the building that was falling apart. Nathaniel was still in there, she realized, and a part of her panicked. But she knew it was the foolish part of her, the part of her heart that had been tricked into falling for him; he deserved what he was getting, she kept telling herself. Kairi reached Sora and bent down next to him. "Sora," she said worriedly, her voice shaking. She heard a roar and her eyes darted toward the building once more. Nathaniel.

Nathaniel's tail whipped to one side as he tried to scramble away from the pain, crashing into one side of the wall. That seemed to trigger the rest. Debris started to fall on him repeatedly, hitting his head and back and forcing him to the ground, helpless to the building that was collapsing on top of him.

 

Sora heard Kairi say his name, but that was all he comprehended before felt himself black out for a few seconds, his Keyblades fading away when he lost consciousness. But after about ten seconds, he woke up, lifting his head and seeing the building fall down completely on top of the dragon.

 

Kairi watched as the building finally came down on the dragon, causing a gust of wind and clouds of dust to fly. She turned her head away, lifting her arms to cover her face as the loud rumble of the building reached her ears. After a few seconds, it faded, and she knew the building was completely down.

 

Sora had hidden his face in his arms when the dust came, the brunet aware that Kairi had done the same beside him. When the noise faded into silence, he lifted his head, seeing that the building was completely destroyed. That, and there was no sign of Nathaniel. He set his hands on the ground and forced himself to his knees, his body screaming in pain.
