Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return

Namine walked through her living, into the hallway, and then into her bedroom, shutting the door behind her. Her trembling hands fumbled with the buttons of the coat, the girl not sure if she was trembling because of the cold or her joy at seeing Roxas. Maybe it was a bit of both. She shrugged off her coat and put it on a hook to drying, hurrying to get dry clothes on so she could be with Roxas again.

 

Roxas scratched his head as thunder clapped outside, the boy briefly glancing out the window at the sound. It was still pouring, so he knew he wasn't going home for a while. Oh well, it didn't matter to him. He was with Namine. That was enough for him right now.

 

After a few minutes, Namine finally had on a new set of clothes--purple and black plaid pajama pants that were toasty warm and a black tank top underneath a white sweatshirt. She was still cold, but she could cover up with a blanket if she needed to. First, she had to get back to Roxas. She tucked back a strand of wet blond hair and opened her bedroom door, walking down the hall toward the living room.

 

Roxas was lounging on the couch, having missed such comfortable furniture while he was away. He closed his eyes at the comfort, sighing. He was going to worry about all his stresses later. Right now, he just wanted to relax and be with the person most important to him.

 

Namine came from behind the couch, seeing that Roxas was relaxing. She smiled and went around the other side of the couch, sitting herself down next to Roxas. She couldn't help but keep her eyes on him; she hadn't seen him for so long, and she had imagined how and when he would come back. Today she hadn't expected it, and after all the stress she had lately, it was a pleasant surprise.

 

Roxas kept his eyes closed and his head back on the couch but smiled at the presence next to him. His arms were resting across the back and arm of the furniture as he relaxed. "Feel better?" he asked, remembering how soaked Namine had been just minutes ago.

 

Namine smiled softly, looking down into her lap at the question. She assumed Roxas was asking if she was physically better now that she was dry, but more than that, she was emotionally better. Seeing Roxas made her feel so much better, like everything was going to be alright. Someday. "Yeah, I am," she said quietly, sky blue eyes staying down as a small smile remained on her lips.

 

"That's good," Roxas said with an exhale. He was still a little wet from the rain himself, but his spikes always dried quickly. It was pretty toasty in Namine's home anyway, so he was glad she was warmer now than before. His smile faded slightly as he kept his eyes closed, just taking in the presence of Namine. He had missed her, and now that he was with her, it was kind of...strange but familiar, one of those things that felt like deja vu but was comforting and appreciated.

 

Namine leaned back into the couch, a soft breath leaving her as she shut her eyes. Things are gonna be alright, she realized. Now that something good has finally happened, things have to start getting better. Her soft blue eyes opened partway as she lightly rubbed her hands together, feeling that they were still ice-cold.

 

Roxas lifted his head slightly and peeked one eye open. His sight fell on Namine and he smiled a little. There was a hint of one on her face, which made him open his eyes fully to take in. The last time he had seen her smile... It had been too long ago. The last glimpse he had of her was when she was in tears, and that was enough to make him hurt inside. Roxas never wanted to leave her like that again, and he briefly wondered how she'd been the last few months.

 

Namine felt her wet bangs hanging over her eyes slightly, but she ignored it, taking in a silent breath as she continued rubbing her hands. She had done enough contemplation lately. What she hadn't done was sit down and have a peaceful period of silence. The only reason that this silence was peaceful was because Roxas was with her. That was reason enough to feel at peace.

 

Roxas sat up a little bit, his back against the corner of the couch. "You alright, Nam?" he asked, his eyes bright with curiosity. He blinked in realization of how long ago he had called her that too. Gosh, he wasn't leaving again, not for a while. He missed too many things about her.

 

Namine looked up at the voice, leaving her hands alone as she gazed over at Roxas. "Just a little cold, still," she said with a weak smile. "And tired. It's been a long day." Actually, it's been a long week, she thought, correcting herself. No, a long two months. That was the most appropriate way of saying how long she had dealt with troubles.

 

"Come here," Roxas told her, motioning with his hand against the couch for her to come closer. The embrace earlier hadn't been enough for him, not really. And he was sure it was the same for Namine.

 

Namine smiled softly and followed Roxas' request, scooting over so that her side was touching his. She had missed this...so much. Words couldn't describe how it felt to see Roxas after so long. Of course, that was a good thing, because the happiness she felt at the sight of him was what couldn't be put into words.

 

Roxas wrapped his arm around Namine's shoulders as soon as she was closer, bringing her even more against him. He looked down at her in silence, realizing that it was hard to keep his eyes off her now that he'd been away for so long.

 

Namine looked up at Roxas, a small smile still on her lips. "I'm going to get you all wet now," she realized, her hair dripping as if set off by her comment. Hopefully her blond hair would dry relatively quickly, but it had gotten pretty wet during that sudden storm.

 

"I've been out in plenty of storms lately," Roxas informed her softly. "Your hair has nothing on the rain." He offered her a small smile, looking her in the eye. He had run into bad weather on his mission; he'd gotten used to it after a while. A few drips from Namine's damp hair wasn't going to bother him.

 

Namine smiled softly at Roxas' words, the girl holding eye contact with him for one moment. Then she leaned her head against his shoulder, naturally falling into a comfortable position she had been in so many times before.

 

Roxas rubbed his hand over Namine's arm, his fingers running over the fabric of her sweatshirt. He squeezed her shoulder after a minute, leaning his head back against the couch and toward Namine. He exhaled softly in the silence, enjoying how peaceful it was right now. Peace had evaded Roxas for a while.
