Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return

Namine allowed her eyes to fall shut after a few minutes of silence, the girl suddenly feeling herself become exhausted. It was probably a combination of the cold weather, the stress she was under, and the peace Roxas brought. Well, no matter what caused it, Namine felt as if she could fall asleep.

 

Roxas kept his grip secure on Namine as the silence continued, letting her know just by touch that he wasn't going to leave her alone again. It was out of the question at this point.

 

Namine exhaled a breath, already half asleep because of the comforting aura around her and Roxas. She subconsciously wrapped an arm over Roxas' stomach, feeling herself fading quickly. A minute after that, she left consciousness altogether, falling asleep in Roxas' embrace.

 

It was as if he didn't have to think at all, because Roxas's other hand instantly came down to rest on Namine's forearm that was over his stomach. It somehow made him feel closer to her, because he had been so far from her a day ago.

 

The next day.

Namine shifted her head in her sleep, her embrace on Roxas become less tight as she slumbered. She would have held onto him tightly if she were thinking, but somehow, her muscles felt incredibly weak. Even in her state of unconsciousness, Namine could tell that things weren't right. She had caught a cold from the freezing rain the previous day.

 

Roxas was in a deep sleep, the comfort of his surroundings drawing him further into unconsciousness. The grip he had on Namine had loosened a little, but it was still there. With his head tilted toward Namine and resting against the couch, his breathing was deep and even, showing how well he was sleeping.

 

Namine furrowed her brows, being forced out of her slumber because of an annoying tickle in her nose. She turned her head away from Roxas at the last moment, a few sneezes leaving her.

 

Roxas stirred slightly, a faint sound leaving him as he tilted his head back more. The sounds had woken him slightly, but his sleep was so deep that he barely noticed consciously. He was back to sleep in seconds, a soft sigh leaving him as he slept peacefully.

 

Namine exhaled a heavy breath, feeling her eyes become moist. She realized numbly that she was sick, but she didn't have the energy to get medicine. She sighed in tiredness and leaned back into Roxas, shutting her eyes as she sagged into his body.

 

Even in his sleep, there was something nagging at the back of Roxas's mind. It was a sense that warned him of something wrong. It woke Roxas a little, the boy's hold on Namine shifting slightly.

 

Namine bit her lip lightly and took in a breath, leaning her hot forehead lightly against Roxas' neck. This is awful...she thought, eyes shut in weakness. Why is it that I have to get sick, now of all times?

 

It wasn't just the warning in Roxas's mind that threw him off. It was also the weight against him and the heat against his skin. Roxas moved his head a little, grunting slightly as he tried to gain consciousness. Something was definitely not right.

 

Namine bit down on her lip again at the grunt, fearing that she had accidentally woken Roxas. She opened her eyes a crack and lifted a hand, lightly setting it on Roxas' knee before her eyes fell shut once again.

 

The light touch felt soft, but Roxas knew better than to let his kind of thing go. He lifted his head and furrowed his eyebrows from grogginess. He opened his eyes slowly, but then closed them again before raking his free hand through his hair. What was so wrong?

 

Despite her fever, Namine shivered faintly, cold and hot at the same time. Ugh...she thought in disgust, tears forming behind her closed eyelids. I have awful luck, don't I? Why do I always get sick from the smallest storms?

 

Roxas opened his eyes again, turning his head to look down at the weight that was against him. He saw blonde hair but blinked to clear his blurry vision, seeing the expression on the girl's face beside him. "Namine?" he asked then, his voice tired. "You okay?"

 

The words reached Namine's ears slowly, the girl feeling in a haze from the fever. "Mm?" she murmured, not sure exactly what that was supposed to mean. After a few seconds, she forced her eyes open halfway, looking up at Roxas with rosy pink cheeks.

 

Roxas furrowed his eyebrows. "Nam... You don't look so good." His voice showed his concern already forming. He loosened his hold on her, bringing his arms around to grab onto her shoulders and try to sit her up.

 

Namine blinked, taking in Roxas' words as she forced herself to fully open her eyes. "I don't feel too good, either," she confessed softly, putting a lot of effort into actually getting the words out. Why was she so exhausted? She had slept through the night without a problem, but it felt as if she had gotten no sleep at all.

 

Roxas held Namine by her shoulders gently, taking in her appearance. Her cheeks were pink, her eyes watery, and her skin was on fire. The way she even talked sounded bad. "How long were you out in the rain yesterday?" he asked almost-immediately, remembering how wet she had been.
