Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return

Namine looked down towards Roxas' chest, too tired to keep her eyes up as she thought about the question. "Not very long," she said after a few moments of silence. "Five minutes? Ten tops." Shows how easily I get sick, she mused, unhappy at the thought. She hated being sick, but it happened often enough that she was used to dealing with it. This one, though, was making her feel much more awful than a cold normally did.

 

Roxas frowned slightly. "You're sick," he declared, taking in how the weather had been the day before and how she looked now. He squeezed her shoulders as his eyes softened, feeling upset that she was suffering.

 

Namine lifted her eyes to Roxas', recognizing that he spoke the truth. "Yeah, I am," she said softly, a quiet sigh leaving her as she closed her eyes. She hated being sick, but denying the truth wasn't going to make the cold go away, so there wasn't much point in lying and saying she was fine.

 

Roxas lifted one of his hands to cup the side of Namine's head. "You should rest," he said then. "I'll go get you some medicine if you want to lay in your bed." It was much more comfortable than the couch, that was for sure.

 

Namine bit down on her lip lightly, opening her eyes at Roxas' gentle words. "...I don't know if I can move," she said softly, not liking to admit how weak this cold made her. "I feel so tired..." Her eyes became more moist as she looked down to the side of the couch, feeling vulnerable and tired and lousy over all.

 

Roxas moved his hand to Namine's cheek, running his thumb over her feverish skin. "You should know by now that shouldn't be a problem," he told her softly. It wasn't like she was very heavy, and he had gotten stronger over the last two months. Besides, he didn't mind carrying her.

 

Namine shut her eyes at the gentle stroking, lightly leaning her head against the hand. "Hmm?" she hummed, not quite sure what Roxas was saying because of the haze she was in. She knew that he wasn't trying to say anything tricky or confusing, and she was just too out of it to comprehend the meaning behind his words.

 

Roxas smiled slightly. "C'mon. I'll take you to your room." He gazed at her with gentle, concerned eyes, wishing his touch alone was enough to heal her. But he knew it wasn't, because this was reality. "You'll be more comfortable in your bed," he said.

 

"'Kay," Namine whispered, keeping her eyes shut. She felt Roxas' hand still against her cheek, and it felt cool compared to her own skin. I must have a pretty high fever, she realized weakly, the thought crossing her mind as she wished she would simply melt away at Roxas' touch instead of causing him worry and feeling awful herself.

 

Roxas slowly took his hand back and stood himself up. He leaned over and wordlessly brought his arms around and under Namine's form, lifting her off the couch without a problem. He could feel how hot she was through her clothes, which only spiked his worry for her.

 

Namine exhaled a breath, her heart skipping a beat at Roxas lifting her off the couch. Of course, she thought, finally catching onto what Roxas' words had meant earlier. That's why things wouldn't be a problem. He's carried me before, after all. The blond girl kept her eyes shut as she leaned her forehead lightly against his neck, feeling comforted in her haze by Roxas' close presence.

 

Roxas left the living room, only his footsteps being heard as he walked. He went down the hallway and turned into Namine's open door, entering her room. He approached her bed and gently set her down on it, hoping the comfort of her own room would make her feel a little better.

 

Namine opened her eyes when she felt herself being set down on something soft, the action surprising her for some reason. The period of being held in Roxas' arms went by very quickly; it hardly felt like it had been more than two seconds. This fever's really getting to me, she realized, blinking at the thought.

 

Roxas pulled his arms out from under Namine slowly as he looked down on her. "I'll go get you some medicine, okay?" he said, his voice soft. He hated seeing her like this just after he got home, but it wasn't going to stop him from taking care of her.

 

"Okay," Namine whispered, giving Roxas a faint nod. Her bangs came down into her eyes further, but she didn't bother to correct it, not really caring about how she looked. She knew that her cold already made her look awful, and there wasn't anything she could do to fix that.

 

Roxas nodded and left the room without a word, heading down the hallway and to the bathroom. He knew Namine kept a medicine cabinet in here, full of what he needed to help her get better. Roxas reached in and pulled out a bottle of pills, spilling two into his hand before going to the kitchen to grab a glass of water.

 

Namine worked her way under the covers of her bed, rolling over onto her side and curling up as she shivered. She was really burning up, but at the same time, she felt freezing cold. She pulled the sheets up to her chin as she shut her eyes, wishing that the cold would vanish as quickly as it had appeared.

 

Roxas left the kitchen, the glass of water and pills in hand. He went down the hallway and entered Namine's room again, his eyes immediately registering her new position. "Here," he said softly, approaching her bed quietly and holding the pills and water out to her. Roxas wished she wasn't suffering with a sickness, but his wishes wouldn't help a thing. He had to take care of her.

 

Namine opened her eyes, seeing Roxas standing in front of her with a glass of water and some medicine. She sat herself up, ignoring the fact that she was no longer under the warmth of her blankets. "Thank you," she said softly, reaching out one hand and grabbing the water while the other gently took the pills out of Roxas' open palm.

 

"Mm-hm," Roxas hummed with a nod, gazing down at Namine. He then lowered himself to her bed, sitting on the side and positioning himself toward her. It was hard to stay away when he just got to see her again, and when she was ill. She needed some care and comfort, and he was willing to provide it.
