Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return

Namine closed her eyes when Roxas pulled her closer to himself, the girl not minding that. She knew that he hadn't been himself earlier when he yelled at her, and though it may have caused her a lot of pain, she was willing to forgive him for it.

 

"Sorry," Roxas pathetically apologized again, holding Namine against him firmly. "For everything." He would understand if she didn't accept his apology. He was a jerk lately, and he left her to fend for herself for a long time. What happened wasn't fair, to anyone.

 

"I know," Namine whispered, feeling the warmth of Roxas' body against hers as he held her securely. Though she only spoke to words, the tone behind it was clear: I love you, and I'll forgive you because love doesn't keep track of wrong doings.

 

Roxas turned his face and kissed Namine on the forehead lightly, and when he pulled back, he was surprised with himself. How long had it been since he'd shown affection towards her? A very long time, he assumed, and he wasn't sure if that was a good thing.

 

Namine exhaled a silent breath through her nose, keeping her eyes shut when she felt Roxas' lips against her forehead. She appreciated the gesture; it was something he always performed whenever he wanted to prove that he cared. She realized now that he did still care about her feelings. She had doubted that during their fight earlier, but she should have realized that Roxas really wasn't being himself.

 

Roxas smiled slightly at the look on Namine's face, his eyes staying there for a minute before he looked down at her body. She was still in his lap, but there was blood on the floor. Namine's hand. "We should probably get you fixed up," he commented softly, looking at her hand.

 

Namine opened her eyes at Roxas' soft-spoken words. When she saw where his gaze was going, she followed it with her eyes and saw her hand. Ouch, that looks bad. "We should," she agreed softly, though she didn't have much desire to leave Roxas' arms.

 

Roxas nodded once and brought his arm back from Namine's stomach, instead shifting it so it was under her knees. Roxas tightened his hold on her with the other arm. He shifted his gaze to her and smiled slightly. He hadn't done much help earlier, but he was going to try again. First, he was going to bandage up her hand.

 

Namine looked down to see Roxas' arm under her knees, the girl quickly realizing that Roxas wasn't going to help her up; he was going to do all the work and lift her. She blinked and felt his gaze on her, which she looked up to meet almost immediately. She saw his weak smile and she offered one of her own.

 

Roxas briefly glanced down at the ground once his smile was returned, holding Namine firmly against him as he pushed himself up from the floor using his legs. It wasn't as hard to get up in this position, considering the fact that the last two months had given him much more strength. Once Roxas was standing, he started down the hallway to Namine's room. "You have gauze in your bathroom?" he asked, glancing down at Namine.

 

Namine shifted her gaze from the hallway to Roxas at the question, the girl nodding faintly. "Yeah, there should be," she replied. Now that the attention was on her hand, she couldn't help but notice how badly it hurt. She had noticed it before, but she had refused to acknowledge it for the sake of the conversation she and Roxas had earlier.

 

"'Kay." Roxas reached Namine's room and turned through the doorway carefully, that way Namine's head and feet wouldn't hit the wall. Once he was in the room, he moved toward the bed and carefully started to set Namine down on the side closest to the bathroom.

 

Namine had been lightly leaning her head against Roxas' shoulder when he carried her, but now that he was setting her down, she brought her head off of him. Though she didn't want to leave his arms, she knew that they had to take care of her hand. They had already left it alone for longer than was healthy.

 

Roxas slowly set Namine down on the bed, releasing his arms from around her. He glanced down at her hand and grimaced. "Keep your palm up," he directed softly, then moving toward the bathroom to grab the bandaging and disinfectant.

 

Namine nodded faintly at Roxas' words, her eyes following him as he went into the bathroom. When he was out of sight, she looked down at her palm, the top of her hand resting against her leg. Ouch, she thought again, seeing how bad it appeared. Jeff really hadn't held back--at all. She shut her eyes when she remembered his arm cutting off her air, and the fear she had felt when she realized she couldn't get free.

 

Roxas opened the cabinets, grabbing the things he needed to clean up Namine's cut--a damp washcloth, some cleanser to disinfect it, and some gauze to wrap up the wound. With the items in hand, he left the bathroom and entered Namine's room.

 

Namine kept her eyes shut, a little aware that Roxas had reentered the room. She had been so scared...so afraid that things would turn out awful. They had in some ways; Jeff had hurt her every chance he had, and she was still in pain now. But Roxas had come. Her guardian angel had saved the day once again.

 

Roxas approached Namine's bed, looking up from the supplies in his hand. He arched an eyebrow, but sat down next to her nonetheless. "You okay?" he asked gently. Even if he asked, he felt the answer would be no, considering what just happened.

 

Namine opened her eyes slowly and then turned her head to look at the boy beside her when they were fully open. "Not really," she answered quietly, honestly. "I haven't been 'okay' for a long time." She was surprised that she had said that verbally, but she and Roxas both knew that it was true anyway.

 

Roxas didn't say anything. He simply gazed at the girl before him before nodding once in understanding, his eyes falling to her hand. "I guess we can make things better by starting here," he said. Roxas held out his hand to her, the damp cloth in his other.
