Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return

Namine bit her lip lightly, holding the charm in the palm of her left hand. Without thought, she lifted her wrapped hand and lightly ran a finger over the charm. It had "Ty" etched into the middle of it, since it had been a gift she had gotten at the same time she became Ty's owner. She looked at it, one thought running through her head. I miss you, Ty.

 

Roxas saw the look on Namine's face as he approached her, but he didn't question it. If she wanted to talk about it, she would. Until then, he would just play some music. Roxas stopped next to Namine and slid his back down the wall to sit beside her, guitar in his grasp.

 

Namine glanced at Roxas when he sat down beside her, noticing that he held her guitar in his grasp. But then she looked back at the charm in her hand, taking her right hand away so that there was a clear view of it. Looking at the hook, it seemed like it had only managed to fall off somehow, not broken. Somehow, that was a big relief to her.

 

Roxas set the guitar in his lap, not yet in position to play. He wasn't ready anyway, his attention on Namine's hand. He saw something in her palm, though he couldn't make out what it was at first. After a moment though, he recognized it. "Did it fall off?" he asked, eyes turning to Namine.

 

Namine nodded faintly, keeping her eyes on the charm in her palm. "I don't think it's broken, though," she said quietly. She didn't know how it managed to fall off without being broken first, but she wasn't about to complain about it.

 

"Oh, well that's good," Roxas acknowledged softly. He stared at the charm, recognizing it as one of a dog. No doubt it belonged to Namine's bracelet. She hardly went anywhere without it. Well, he wouldn't really know that, considering he was gone for a while.

 

Namine nodded once more, agreeing. It was very lucky that it hadn't broken. Actually, she still had the bracelet on her left hand, so she could put it back on right away. But instead of taking the action, she just looked at it, thinking about her dog. For now, she would keep it off the bracelet and look at it. She didn't know why she wanted to do that, but she did.

 

Roxas adjusted the guitar in his hands, positioning it against him so he could play from his place on the floor. He made sure it was in tune, already having an idea of a song he wanted to play.

 

Out of the corner of Namine's eye, she noticed Roxas adjusting his grip on the guitar. The floor probably wasn't the most comfortable place to play guitar, but he seemed alright with it. She didn't take the time to look at his face, staring at the charm in her hand with sad eyes. Ty...

 

Roxas got the pick in his hand ready and positioned his fingers before beginning to strum the notes. They filled the silent hall instantly, and he already started to feel calm.

 

Namine released a soft breath, hearing the chords and notes of the song enter her ears. Gradually, her attention shifted from her thoughts of Ty to the peaceful music. Subconsciously, she was glad for that. All of her deep thinking lately had been draining her, and though she hadn't had a chance to show it up to this point, she was very tired.

 

Roxas continued playing, feeling relaxed as the music entered his ears. He strummed skillfully, watching his hands work their magic on the guitar. Out of the corner of his eye he saw Namine and smiled at the fact she was listening. He always did appreciate that she would listen to him strum pointlessly, but he welcomed her support more when he actually played songs.

 

Namine leaned her head against the wall behind her, finally taking her eyes off of Ty's charm as she closed her eyes. Though Roxas was only strumming, somehow the music seemed like a lullaby. She didn't care if they were sitting up against a wall; the moment just felt right, no matter where they were or how they ended up here.

 

Roxas began to strum the lighter notes again, face relaxed as he played. He'd played this song plenty of times before, having practiced it a lot a while back. It was a song he heard on the radio, so he thought he'd learn it himself. It worked out in the end, with moments like this.

 

Namine turned her head toward Roxas slightly, opening her eyes just a crack to take a look at the guitar. But then she shut her eyes again, both because she was relaxed and because she was tired. She momentarily wondered if fainting made a person more tired, because that was how she felt now. Oh well, she supposed that in the end, it didn't really matter. She took in a soft breath, Roxas' guitar strumming softening as she started to fall asleep.

 

Roxas continued to play, his eyes focused on the guitar in his hands. Namine's presence comforted him, though, which made it better. He loved playing for her, and just playing at all. Music was his therapy.

 

Namine lowered her left hand to rest on her knee, the charm laying on her open palm without falling to the ground. She faintly heard Roxas playing the song, which must have been coming close to its ending since it had been a few minutes, as she fell asleep.

 

Roxas recognized that his song was coming to an end, and it showed with the notes he played. He strummed the guitar for another short period of time, softer notes playing before he ended the song completely, letting the chords fade into silence. When he finished, he turned his head to look at the girl at his side, but discovered that her eyes were closed and she was breathing evenly. Roxas smiled slightly. Namine fell asleep on him, but that was okay. She deserved some rest.

 

Namine breathed evenly, unaware that the music had stopped being played. Any other time, she would have felt bad for falling asleep during one of Roxas' songs, but today was different for many reasons. Besides, he had just been playing for fun, not specifically for her to listen. That was her reasoning behind allowing herself to fall asleep, and she allowed that logic to bring her peace as she slept without dreams.

 

Roxas set the guitar down quietly, leaning it against the wall. He then turned back to Namine, subconsciously checking out her hand to make sure it was okay. When he didn't see the gauze coming undone, his gaze fell on the other hand, the one holding the charm. Roxas glanced up at Namine briefly before taking the small charm from her palm and placing it back on her bracelet. But he did it quietly and carefully, not wanting to disturb her sleep.
