Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return

Namine felt one tear run down her cheek, something totally unexpected and unexplainable. She brought up a hand and wiped it away, but Ty had seen it and made an effort to make it go away even after it was gone. He licked her cheek once, and then again to try and please his master. Namine giggled once, wrapping her arms around her dog. She set her head against his, cheek resting lightly on top of his head.

 

Namine's soft laughtered seemed to echo in Roxas's ears, reaching his heart as he began to push himself up. Once he was standing, his bright eyes darted to the sky at the sound of thunder, lightning flashing a few miles away in the sky. "Time to go," he muttered, not specifically to anybody.

 

Namine released the dog quickly, her eyes wandering over in the direction of the lightning. Her bright orbs were a bit wider than usual, a sense of discomfort running through her veins. Discomfort...and familiarity. Again. Did she have some kind of bad past with storms or something?

 

Roxas blinked, wetness falling on his cheek. The sun had disappeared, but he hadn't noticed until now. It was funny... Time always seemed to fly by whenever he was with Namine. It was just what happened when they were together, at least through his eyes. But now he could see that the clouds were turning grey, a dark grey.

 

Namine bit her lip lightly when she heard another loud rumble of thunder. She desperately wanted to just hug her dog and pray things would be alright, but common sense ruled that out. The girl lowered her eyes to the ground, setting a hand on the grass as she rose to her feet.

 

"We should probably get going," Roxas suggested, his eyes still on the clouds. He blinked when there was a flash of lightning, even though it wasn't closeby. He reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone, flipping it open to check the time. Instead, he found his background to be a picture of him and Namine. He stared at it for a moment, memories flashing back. But he snapped it shut quickly, acting as if he really was just checking the time...

 

Namine nodded to Roxas's question. "Yeah," she said softly, eyes wandering from Roxas to Ty. Ty was just rising to his feet as another lightning bolt lighting the sky. She instinctively gasped and took a step back. But then she was confused. Why was she so afraid of the storm that hadn't even started? A drop of rain fell from the sky, hitting her nose. And then a second and third came down to hit her bare arms.

 

Roxas brought up an arm to wipe away the few raindrops that had fallen on his forehead and face. They really needed to get going, especially since the rain was already starting to come down. And he definitely didn't want Namine to get sick...

 

Namine felt the rain start coming down harder, multiple drops hitting her in less than a second. Great, she thought. Home is blocks away! By the time I get there, I'm going to be soaked... She looked down at her dog, who was anxiously waiting for her command to go home.

 

Roxas turned his head to look at Namine, feeling raindrops hit his spiky hair. Then it started to pick up even more. "We gotta go, Nam," he said, urgency in his voice. They were going to get soaked, and both of them lived blocks away from this park. Glancing around, he noticed they were the only ones there, savor a few people who were heading out. His blue eyes fell back on the blonde next to him, the boy having to blink because of the raindrops.

 

Namine turned to Roxas, giving him a small nod. "Right," she said in agreement. No use standing around. In fact, she didn't know why it took so long for her to start walking. She clicked her tongue once for Ty's sake before starting to walk, guessing Roxas would be close behind.

 

Roxas followed behind the two, his eyes looking back up at the sky. Dark clouds now covered what used to be the perfect sky. Just like your relationship, a voice within him called. The boy blinked in surprise, stopping at the words. "What...?" What was his mind doing to him?

 

Namine stopped at the voice, not having really heard what Roxas said. Or at least she didn't understand it. She turned around to look at the teen. "Did you say something?" she asked, sky blue orbs looking directly into Roxas' ocean blue eyes.

 

Roxas looked up, blinking. "What? Oh... Uh, nothing," he quickly answered, shaking his head. It certainly wasn't nothing, but he was going to say so because they needed to get out of the rain, which was coming down faster, harder. So is reality. Roxas blinked again, gaze unfixed at the inner voice.

 

Namine's wet bangs came down into her eyes slightly, making her uncomfortable. "Okay," she said, not sure why Roxas had stopped walking. But she had faith that if she started walking again, he would follow. So she turned around and started slowly.

 

Knock it off, Roxas, the boy scolded himself. Stop thinking like that... He moved his feet again, starting to follow the blonde girl and her companion a few steps ahead of him. The rain was beginning to dampen his hair, matting his spikes to his forehead.

 

Namine bit down on her lip, feeling her teeth begin to chatter. Earlier that day, things had been lovely. The sun was shining and the temperature had been perfect. But now, as the rain fell down on her, Namine realized how quickly things could change. Not only in the physical world, but mentally as well. Just yesterday, she had all her memories...

 

Roxas felt his shirt begin to get wet. They needed to pick up the pace, or they were going to not only get soaked, but sick. He quick-stepped a few feet to catch up to Namine. "C'mon," he said to her. "We need to get moving if we're gonna try and beat the storm." Before it became even worse, that is. "Let's go to my place. It's closer," he insisted, looking her in the eye, having to squint due to the rain.

 

Namine met his eyes and nodded, her thoughts stopping dead in their tracks. "Alright," she agreed, liking the idea of not being in the rain any longer than necessary. She picked up her speed, trusting that Roxas would be right beside her to lead them in the right direction. After all, she didn't know where his home was.

 

Roxas reached forward, his fingers hooking around Namine's wrist. "Wait," he said over the rain. "It's this way." He motioned with his head in the other direction, the way he had come from to begin with. Of course...she wouldn't remember where he lived; her memories were gone.
