Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return

Namine kept a smile on her face. "I'm not complaining," she said. "And since you've been so honest with me...I want to tell you something." She didn't wait for Roxas to respond; she wanted to get it off her chest for a while now. "For the past two days, every time I've looked into your eyes, I felt like my heart skipped a beat." She shook her head slightly, laughing softly. "I thought I was going crazy, but now I see that I've been falling for you all over again."

 

Roxas felt his lips spread, a bigger smile replacing the other. As much as he loved hearing that, there was still something he wanted to ask. His smile disappeared for a moment as he spoke what was on his mind. "Then...why did you leave the cafe?" His expression represented confusion, and if Namine meant what she said, what did that mean?

 

Namine's smile faded into a smaller one as she looked into Roxas' eyes. "I caught a glimpse of what we had before," she explained. "And it was so overwhelming I felt like I needed to collect my thoughts." She shook her head slightly, her bangs moving over her eyes a little bit. "I don't know why I ran," she confessed. "It may have been an overreaction, but it all just hit me so quickly, I felt I didn't have a choice.

 

Roxas chuckled. "Maybe the song was a little thick, too," he joked, rubbing the back of his head and ruffling his hair. A smile was left on his face once his soft laughter melted away, the boy keeping eye contact with the girl he loved.

 

Namine kept a small smile on her face, holding Roxas' gaze. "It was a beautiful song, by the way," she said. "I'm sorry I couldn't stay to hear the ending of it."

 

Roxas looked to the ground. "Well," he started, smiling a little more as he took a step toward the girl. "I could always play it again," he finished, meeting her eyes again. It was written about her, of course, so it'd only be right if she heard the full version.

 

Namine looked down at Roxas' hand holding her wrist, which he had never moved. Her soft smile widened slightly as she shifted the hand he held, moving it so that they now were holding hands. "I'd like that," she said, soft blue eyes wandering up to Roxas' bright blue orbs.

 

Roxas looked down at their hands, the boy lacing his fingers in hers as he smiled. He moved a little closer to her, not even a foot between them now. "Name the time and place," Roxas said, his blue eyes gazing into Namine's as he smiled softly.

 

Namine looked up a little bit, still holding Roxas' gaze. "Two o'clock tomorrow...my house?" She smiled and lifted her free hand, lightly setting it on Roxas' arm that was by his side.

 

Namine's gentle touch sent Roxas's arm tingling as he gazed into her eyes. "You got it," he promised gently. This...this was how he knew things were getting better. This felt like the old days between him and Namine, and he loved being able to compare this moment with the rest.

 

Namine smiled and tilted her head up a little bit before she leaned forward and gave Roxas a light peck on the lips. Then she returned to her previous position, a small smile still on her lips.

 

Roxas's eyes had closed within the short duration that kiss had lasted, and he slowly opened them, his smile spreading into a grin. He suddenly let go of Namine's hand and wrapped his arms around her, bringing her into his arms. It was an impulse, and he couldn't control it.

 

Namine was surprised, but she definitely wasn't against being held in Roxas' arms again. She wrapped her arms around him, gently bringing herself a little closer before she turned her head and let it set lightly on Roxas' shoulder.

 

Roxas felt warmth in his chest, and he could only believe that it was his heart. And the warmth...that was Namine... His love for her. And now, her love for him as well. At the thought Roxas brought her closer, closing his eyes as he held her in his arms.

 

Namine silently released a breath, her eyes flickering shut when a light breeze cooled her down. She really felt as if she were flying. And at that moment, it didn't matter that her memories were missing. The moment was perfect exactly as it was.

 

Roxas took in a silent breath. "This... This is how it's supposed to be," he said softly. His smile remained on his face, eyes still hidden behind his eyelids. The breeze blew his bangs slightly into his face, but he didn't mind. Nothing was going to distract him from this moment.

 

Namine nodded slightly, holding Roxas a little more tightly. "I haven't been this happy in a long time," she said softly. She suddenly remembered back to the picture Sora had shown her, and she bit down on her lip so she wouldn't laugh at that moment.

 

Roxas's eyes opened a bit, the boy immediately seeing her blonde hair. "I'm glad to hear that," he said happily. As much as he wanted to pick Namine up and just twirl her, he knew that would ruin the peaceful moment they were sharing. And after all they had just discussed, they needed it.

 

Namine opened her eyes slightly, seeing the park in front of her. The sun was shining, birds were chirping, and best of all, she was with Roxas. Things were positively wonderful.

 

Roxas loosened his grip on Namine slightly, gently pulling back. She understood now, didn't she? That he loved her back, and that was never going to change? Roxas knew it for a fact, the truth behind it in his heart.
