Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return

Namine nodded again, now silent for some reason. She supposed that she had already expressed her joy as fully as she could at that moment, and no more words were needed. At least, that's what she told herself. Not only was she glad that her memories were back, but after everything that happened concerning her kidnapping in the first place, she was glad to see Roxas was alright. Sure, she had seen him earlier that week, but she had no clue as to what happened at that point.

 

Roxas stroked Namine's cheek once more, watching the movement. His eyes then met Namine's sky-blue again, his smile softening. "You wanna call Sora and Kairi?" he asked. "I'm sure they'll be happy to hear the big news." His friends would be surprised, most likely, just like he had been. But then that surprise would turn into happiness and excitement, like Roxas was experiencing now.

 

Namine smiled softly. "Good idea," she said, moving her eyes to look around for her cell phone. She didn't see it anywhere in sight, but then she noticed the home phone was on the ground, and the phone was off the hook. A confused look spread across her facial expression. How did that happen?

 

Roxas let his hand fall from Namine's face when he saw her looking around. And then when he noticed her expression, he followed her line of sight. Oh... The house phone. He had yet to explain how exactly he knew to come to her house last night.

 

Namine let her hand slide off of Roxas', her eyes staying on the phone. She was trying to put the pieces together in her head; did she try and make a phone call before she fainted? Or did Ty bump into the counter again and knock it over? But neither of those answers felt right to her...

 

Roxas scratched the side of his head, eyes on the phone. "Maybe I should explain..." he started, letting his hand drop down to his leg. He looked up at Namine, still seeing her confused expression.

 

Namine turned to look at Roxas, the confused expression staying on her face. She couldn't think of anything to say, so she waited, knowing that Roxas would come out and tell her whatever it was he had to say.

 

Roxas glanced back at the phone as he started to explain. "It must have been right after you fainted, when I got the call. When I answered the phone, all I heard was barking." His blue eyes darted back up to Namine's. "Ty was the one who called me, believe it or not," he said, smiling slightly. After a second, that smile melted away. "But I'm glad he did... I would have been even more worried if I hadn't been here..."

 

Namine nodded slightly, noticing the serious expression on Roxas' face. But then she shook her head a little bit, a small smile forming. "Who knew he was Ty the Wonderdog?" she mused. "I can't believe he knew what to do..." The blond girl turned to look around the room, seeing Ty laying a few feet away. And he was awake, watching her. She couldn't help but let her smile widen.

 

Roxas chuckled as he followed Namine's gaze, looking at Ty as well. "Your parents made a good choice in getting him for you," he said softly. "He's my little sidekick..." Roxas's eyes located Namine again. "He helps you when I can't do it myself." He felt a small smile come to his face, looking at the girl he loved.

 

Namine felt her smile soften at Roxas' words. She knew that he always wanted to be the one to protect her, but often times, that wasn't possible. She was glad he didn't mind a little canine-assistance. "Don't worry, though," she started. The blond turned to face Roxas again, her eyes connecting with his. "He could never be my guardian angel."

 

Roxas's gaze immediately fell to his lap, the boy bringing a hand to the back of his head in shyness. His smile dimmed because of that timidness, those words always having this kind of effect on him. A soft, shy chuckle left the boy's lips, his eyes glancing up at Namine. He loved hearing her call him that, but it always made him react like...this.

 

Namine let out a few, soft giggles. She leaned forward and gave Roxas a light peck on the cheek before she backed away, a small smile still present on her lips.

 

Roxas rubbed over the back of his head for another second before he finally let his hand come back to his leg. His smile grew as he gazed into Namine's eyes, the boy truly happy again. He knew two other people who would love to hear about this news, and join in on that happiness. "You wanna call Sora and Kairi now?" he asked. Not only did they need to be told, but Roxas needed to go home and get cleaned up as well.

 

Namine nodded slightly. "My cell phone is probably in my bedroom," she thought aloud. "I haven't had much reason to carry it with me the past few days." Although she and Roxas had hung out a bit, they really hadn't spent much time on the phone or texting each other.

 

"Alright," Roxas said with a nod. "Do you want me to stay with you? If not I should probably go home and clean up." He needed to shower, eat a bit of breakfast, and get set for tonight.

 

Namine shook her head softly. "No; I'm alright now," she told him, confident. She wasn't going to have any more flashbacks to the past, no more sadness, and definitely no more fainting. Everything was so much better now than they had been the previous night.

 

Roxas smiled sweetly. "Okay." He looked at Namine for another brief moment before pushing himself up from the couch. Once he was standing, he lifted his arms above his head and started stretching, muscles stiff from the night before.

 

Namine looked away from Roxas when she sensed another movement out of the corner of her eye. She turned to look at the source, seeing that Ty had risen and was now approaching Roxas. The dog wagged his tail softly, sniffing at Roxas' pants.

 

Roxas let his muscles relax after a second, the boy looking down when he sensed a presence next to him. He smiled once he saw Ty near his legs. "Hey, boy," he cooed, bending down a little to pet the dog's head. After a few seconds, he spoke again. "...I'll see you later, buddy." Roxas's hand fell back to his side as he straightened, turning his head to look at Namine.
