Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return

Namine nodded slightly. "I'm going to go on ahead and talk to somebody in charge--they said on the phone they'd need to talk to me in person." She moved and let herself in, heading toward the hostess. The place looked pretty busy so far, but she wasn't surprised at that. "Hello," she said once she reached the hostess. "My name is Namine; I believe we spoke on the phone?"

Sora nodded. "Let's head in," he said. He was sure whatever business Namine was taking care of would only take a minute, and he was fine with standing back a little bit. Then he could check out what the main part of the building looked like. It was his curiosity that encouraged him to do that.

 

Roxas nodded. "Right." He walked forward and held the door open for his friends. They would hold back and wait for Namine to finish her business, but there was no more need to hang out in the waiting area. Roxas watched as Kairi took his offer and approached the door, nodding at her polite "thank you".

 

Sora came up behind Kairi, giving Roxas a nod before he headed into the restaurant as well. And, wow, he certainly wasn't disappointed. That place was beautifully laid out. Simple, yet elegant. He didn't know how to explain it.

Namine nodded to the hostess, who had just got done explaining that she was being given a card that would fully pay for their meals tonight, and she would give it in place of a credit card or cash at the end of their dinner. "Thank you," Namine said politely, accepting the card the girl offered.

"Sure," the hostess said kindly. Then she turned and waved to somebody else; a boy who would show them to their table. "He'll take you and your friends to your table," she informed Namine.

Again, Namine nodded. She looked at the boy, but she immediately felt shy, seeing that he was looking at her like...well, like he liked her. She blushed and then turned slightly and motioned for her friends to join her.

 

Kairi would have taken in the arrangement of the restaurant, but she knew it wasn't a wise choice considering Namine was waving her over. She smiled slightly and went along.

Roxas nodded at the blonde girl, seeing Namine motion for him to come. He briefly glanced around before doing as he was asked.

 

Namine thought she heard the boy mumble something, so she turned her head slightly in that direction, but she didn't look at him. He seemed a bit flustered himself, and the only thing Namine could do was pray he didn't say anything to her. She was still blushing when she looked to the ground and then back up again, seeing her friends right in front of her.

Sora was tied with Kairi when he made it over to Namine, the teen having seen her wave right away. He noticed a strange expression on her face, but he didn't question it. Maybe it had to do with the conversation she had been having with the hostess a moment ago.

 

Kairi stood patiently, waiting for further instruction. She noticed movement out of the corner of her eye, seeing Roxas come up beside her.

Roxas stood next to his friends near the blonde who had motioned to all three of them. But once he was close enough, he noticed that Namine seemed to be a little...flustered. He wasn't sure why, but he didn't ask any questions right away.

 

"This way," the boy muttered, shyly turning away from the group. He started down the isle without waiting to make sure everyone was behind him.

Namine self-consciously tucked a piece of hair behind her ear before following, figuring that she was expected to lead because of her connection to the restaurant.

Sora gently pressed a hand against Kairi's upper back before starting to follow after Namine and the waiter, subtly leading his girlfriend down the path with him.

 

Kairi smiled slightly at the gentle touch, but followed her best friend and the waiter anyway.

Roxas took up the rear, following behind Sora and Kairi. He glanced around as they were led through the aisle, seeing a well-decorated dining area. It was like something he had expected, so he wasn't that surprised. But it was still very nice.

 

The waiter stopped a little ways down, at a booth. "Here you go," he mumbled. He turned around and looked at Namine one last time, and they both started blushing again. It was for different reasons though; the boy out of embarrassment and Namine out of shyness.

"Thanks," Namine said politely, eyes wandering from the waiter to the booth, and then back to the waiter again. But he hadn't even waited for them to sit; he was already gone.

Sora was a bit confused by the waiter's behavior, but again he decided to remain silent. He subtly moved his hand off of Kairi's back and moved past her, sliding into the booth so that she wouldn't have to.

 

Roxas rubbed the back of his head, choosing to ignore his curiosity about the waiter. There was something weird about the kid, but he had an effect on Namine... Roxas shook his head and followed Sora's lead, sliding into the booth before Namine so she wouldn't have to worry about it.

Kairi smiled softly at Sora before silently taking her seat beside him, getting settled in the booth. Surprisingly, it was comfortable, unlike the ones at the diners she always went to with her friends.

 

Namine was confused at first as to what Roxas was doing, but when she saw Sora doing the same thing, she realized it was an act of courtesy. She smiled softly and sat herself down beside him, her leg lightly against his. It wasn't a tight booth; she was just had placed herself that close to him.

Sora silently looked down at the menu in front of him, trying to decide what he wanted to eat. Of course, though, he didn't want it to be expensive if Namine was paying for all of them tonight.

 

Roxas smiled to himself as he picked up a menu, opening it up. He already knew what he wanted. Pasta. His blue eyes instantly darted around the menu for the "Pastas" section, the boy hoping it wouldn't be too expensive.

Kairi looked around as she adjusted her dress. "This place is really nice, Namine," she said, looking across the table at her friend. "Thank you for inviting us." Kairi could tell this place was expensive.

 

Namine nodded softly. "Sure," she said. She forgot about the waiter as she continued, recalling what had happened right before that. "I can't believe this, but the hostess gave me a card that gave us all free meals tonight," she said. "I guess that's what happens when my dad is friends with the owner," she laughed, a smile appearing on her lips.

 

Roxas's eyes widened as he looked at the girl beside him. "Whoa, seriously?" he asked, the disbelief evident in his voice. That was surprising, but at the same time amazing! They got to eat at this place for free?

Kairi's eyes grew as well, surprised by that news. Who knew that would happen?​

 

Sora looked up from his menu, surprised. Free? That was incredible! Looks like something finally worked out in their favor.

Namine looked to Roxas and then to her friends, nodding. "Yeah, I was surprised too," she confessed happily. But she was glad, because it had been a while since she heard of some one being kind just for the sake of doing something thoughtful for another human being. It reminded her that there were good people in the world.

 

Roxas instantly smiled. That was very nice of them to do that for them. At least they didn't have to worry about the prices now...

"Wow," Kairi said softly. "That was so generous of them." She wasn't expecting such a thing, and brought some money to help with the bill. I guess there's no use for most of it now except for the tip...

 

Namine nodded in agreement. "Yeah." She couldn't think of any thing else to say; it was an extremely generous thing to do, and it made the night even more perfect for her. She looked down at her menu for a moment, not really paying attention to her surroundings.

"....Can I get you guys anything to drink tonight?" the waiter was saying.

Sora turned his head, seeing a that their waiter wasn't the same person who brought them back. "Water for me," he said politely. He hadn't even heard the man introduce himself, but now that he saw the name tag saying his name was Todd, Sora realized he had been partially listening a few moments ago.

 

Kairi looked up at the man. "Me too, please," she requested with a polite smile. She hadn't looked at her menu at all, so she didn't know the beverages they had. But water was perfect.

Roxas took his order next. "I'll have water too," he said to Todd. He had been spacing a little until the man had said his name to them. But that was it. At least he had been paying a little bit of attention.

 

"Me too," Namine said, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear without thought. That was something she often did when she was taken by surprise or shy. In this case, it was only surprise; she hadn't even heard the waiter come.

"Alright, I'll be right back with those," the waiter told them before turning around and heading back in the direction he came from.

Sora looked down at his menu again, trying to decide what to order. There were so many options...

 

Once the waiter was gone, Kairi picked up her menu. "So, anybody know what they're getting?" she asked casually, opening her menu and starting to look at the options.

"Pasta," Roxas answered almost immediately. "Definitely pasta." He wasn't sure which one yet, but he was surely going to get one of the pasta dishes.
