Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return

Namine exhaled a silent breath and grabbed Roxas' closest hand without thought. And then she brought her other hand over and lightly set it on his arm. She just loved being with him...more than she loved anything else in the world. If she could, she would never take her eyes off of him. But life didn't work that way. For now, though, as long as they were side-by-side, everything was fine. Only peace and love were present. It was good enough.

 

Roxas didn't take his eyes off the stars as he gently squeezed Namine's hand, enjoying her touch. He watched the sky, eyes catching the stars actually sparkling in the sky. Kind of like Namine's eyes when she was happy... He smiled to himself, thinking of those moments. Whenever she was happy, so was he. And to know that Namine was enjoying herself, that was one of the best feelings in the world.

 

Namine lowered her head, her neck tired from the strain of bending it upward for so long. She let her head rest on Roxas' shoulder as her eyes shut, peace filling her heart.

 

When Roxas felt the added weight to his shoulder, he let his eyes glance down and away from the sky. He saw Namine's blonde hair and smiled softly. He then looked down at the ground, noticing for the first time the pillows and blanket spread out on the grass. His smile grew even more. "Do you want to lie down?" Roxas asked gently, turning his head slightly.

 

Namine opened her eyes at the voice, her gaze wandering to the blanket before going back up to Roxas. "If you want to," she responded softly. She figured it would be easier to look up at the stars this way, and Roxas surely realized it would be much more comfortable that way.

 

Roxas nodded once in silence. Not only would the view be better, but it'd also be more comfortable. Plus, maybe a little warmer. He was still in his shirt from dinner, which was quarter-sleeve. But with the small chill of the breeze, he was cooler than usual. Regardless, it would be nice to lie down; he was a little tired anyways.

 

Namine nodded slightly and slowly released Roxas, her head coming off his shoulder as she moved. She took a few steps over and placed the pillows on the blanket a while, since they had just been lying in the grass earlier.

 

Roxas trailed Namine with his eyes for a moment, watching her put the pillows down. He then approached the laid-out bed and got down on the blanket. He was sure that he would find more serenity in this as well.

 

Once that was done with, Namine took her spot beside Roxas. She lightly set her hands on her stomach as she laid there, her eyes landed on the stars above her once again.

 

Roxas brought his arms behind his head, linking his fingers together. His eyes darted up to the black sky as his chest lowered with a soft sigh in content. There was a better view of the stars from this position, and they seemed to sparkle even more.

 

Namine couldn't explain it, but she suddenly felt tired. Perhaps, somewhere in the sky, a soft lullaby was being played. Or the peacefulness of the moment was trying to pull her into a state of slumber. She exhaled quietly, her eyes shutting halfway.

 

Roxas's eyes glanced across the sky, picking out each and every star. "...Hard to believe those are worlds," he said softly, his voice almost a whisper. It was unbelievable to him that places like...Twilight Town were up there somewhere...

 

Namine hummed softly in agreement, her eyes opening a bit more than they were a few moments ago. "Our old homes are out there," she said softly, her eyes wandering from one star to another and then to another.

 

"Twilight Town..." Roxas pressed his lips together once his voice trailed off, thinking of the friends he used to have there. The life he thought was real, but was really only data. It was sad to think about...but it was reality.

 

Namine stayed silent, her thoughts not going to Twilight Town, but to Castle Oblivion. That had been her home for a longer period of time. At least, it felt that way; time seemed to flow at a different rate in that place. Namine shut her eyes at the memories that came, the girl glad that part of her life was over.

 

Roxas let his eyes drift to the moon, and he instantly thought of the heart-shaped illumination in what he realized was his original home. The World That Never Was. That place was full of so much darkness and danger. It was home to a group with a sickening, selfish goal... Something he had been a part of...

 

It was over now. Never again, would she be a slave to those evil men. She would never hurt her friends again...ever. Namine would never touch their memories...Her eyes flashed open at the thought, the girl suddenly remembering something she had shoved to the back of her mind: the whole reason for her amnesia. Her kidnapping and their plot to use her.

 

Roxas closed his eyes and let out a long breath, not wanting those thoughts to intrude on this moment he was having with Namine. If he was going to dwell on the past, he was going to do it when he was alone, in his room, where Namine wouldn't see him so distressed. He never wanted her to see him that way, in fear she would be worried about him. The last thing Roxas wanted was for Namine to waste away her precious time worrying over his troubles...

 

Everything came flooding back into Namine's mind. The mall. Their plans. Her's and Kairi's attempt to escape. And then...nothing. Just blackness. Namine allowed her eyes become their normal size, the girl trying not to reflect on it. She had to admit, though, it was scary. More than scary--terrifying. Her power could have destroyed her friends...

 

Roxas kept his hands linked behind his head, the boy turning it slightly as he opened his eyes to look at the girl beside him. Namine... She was very dear to him, more precious to him than anyone or anything before he'd met her. He knew the second they encountered each other that his life was changed forever, but who knew she would have such a great effect on him? Namine brought out the best in him, or at least, he liked to think so.
