Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return

Namine exhaled a silent breath, not feeling Roxas' gaze on her. She needed to focus on the good...Her friends had found her before those men could use her power for evil. They had all escaped with their lives. Her memories were back. Her friends were all happy...All these good things would have to outweigh the frightening experiences if she was going to continue on with her life.

 

"Nam...?" Roxas called gently, bright blue eyes on the girl beside him. He was beginning to feel an odd vibe in the air around him, but he mistook it for his own thoughts just moments ago. He didn't want to think that something was the matter.

 

Namine blinked at the voice, the calling of her name bringing her out of her thoughts. She turned her head to face Roxas, her clear blue eyes landing on his. "Hm?"

 

Roxas smiled slightly at Namine. "You comfortable?" he asked softly, wondering how she was doing. She seemed a little tired, and if she fell asleep he wanted to make sure she wasn't uncomfortable. Of course, he didn't mind carrying her to her room; he would do that in a heartbeat.

 

Namine smiled softly, glad that Roxas apparently hadn't noticed her tense up at some of her thoughts a few moments ago. She was fine now--as long as she looked at the brighter things, then she would be able to be happy. "Mmhmm," she hummed in response to Roxas' question. "You?"

 

Roxas nodded, his small smile growing a little. He was always a person who loved to be outdoors, and at night, when the crickets were chirping and the stars were out along with the moon, he was even more comfortable than before. What made it better,though, was that Namine was by Roxas's side.

 

Namine kept a small smile on her face as she scooted a little closer. She wordlessly turned on her side to face him, her eyes not leaving his for even one second.

 

Roxas kept his eyes on Namine, his position the same. As he gazed at her, he felt his eyelids drooping, noting that he was becoming tired suddenly. He didn't know what it was that caused his sleepiness, but he was very comfortable. Perhaps that helped.

 

Namine brought up a hand and lightly set it on Roxas' chest, her eyes flickering shut. She couldn't keep them open now, even though she really, really wanted to say something before she totally lost her grip on reality. I love you, Roxas, she thought, too tired to say the words aloud.

 

Roxas glanced down at the touch before looking back up at the girl beside him. He let the hand on the side opposite Namine come down to rest on top of hers, the boy gripping her hand lightly. "Love you, Nam," he whispered softly, feeling more tiredness impact him. Roxas could tell it was affecting her too.

 

Namine's heart leapt at Roxas' soft spoken words, the girl easily able to hear them despite her tiredness. However, it was too late for her to respond to him, because right as he said those words, Namine slipped into a peaceful slumber.

 

Roxas smiled weakly when Namine didn't respond, but he knew she felt the same; it was obvious by her actions. He turned his head, tired eyes scanning the sparkling sky one last time. He gazed at it for a few minutes, his eyes gradually closing more and more. His eyelids fell until finally, he was unconscious.

 

In the morning, Namine woke up to the sound of birds chirping and was unable to fall back asleep. Roxas, however, still was deeply asleep beside her, so she let him rest as she cleaned herself up, took care of Ty, and started making breakfast. She was just finishing up at that moment when she peaked out the kitchen window again, seeing Roxas in the same position he had been in all morning.

 

Roxas had one arm by his side as he slept, the other hand still lightly against his chest, where Namine's hand had been. Since he was in too deep, he was unaware her hand was no longer there, and that the sun was shining its warm rays onto his form. Roxas breathed evenly as he slept peacefully, wonderful dreams engulfing his mind.

 

After the plates were on the table and the food on them, Namine headed to the back door to go and wake Roxas. But Ty followed her there, and he wouldn't allow her to open the door without getting in the way. And then, reminded of Roxas' playful mood last night, Namine came up with an idea of her own. "C'mon, boy," she whispered, opening the back door slowly. Ty wandered out first, his master right behind him.

 

Birds chirped in the sky above Roxas, but he was completely oblivious to them in his slumber. With the warmth of the sun and the comfort of the "bed", he couldn't bring himself to wake. His eyes remained closed as continued to sleep, breathing evenly as he lay in Namine's backyard.

 

Namine walked down the steps with Ty, the girl looking down at her loyal companion. "Go get him, boy," she whispered encouragingly, a smile forming on her lips. She stopped at the bottom of the stairs as Ty rushed forward, stopping right by Roxas' head. He sniffed the boy's face with a wet nose.

 

Roxas felt a presence nearby, even in his slumber. Then he felt something tickle his cheek. He turned his head away from it slightly without thought, not that he had much to begin with since he was still technically asleep.

 

Namine silently watched from her spot, a smile forming as Ty continued to sniff Roxas' face. That dog was determined to wake the boy up no matter what, and at this rate, Namine was sure that would happen. She almost felt bad for waking Roxas up so abruptly, but then she remembered how he hadn't really helped her at the restaurant when she had Sora's phone. So, remembering that, she decided to let things play out the way they were.

 

The source of the tickling didn't stop, and Roxas turned his head again, moaning groggily as he began to wake up. It didn't stop, though, which woke him even more. "Hmm?" he managed tiredly, his hand no longer resting on his chest, but at his side.
