Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return

Sora laughed at Roxas' attempt to get even. "That's the best you got, Roxas?" he said through his laughter, bringing up his hands to cover his face nonetheless. Seriously, I'm gonna win this easy today! he thought happily, a bit cocky.

Namine laughed at the exchange, a smile on her lips. She would never get tired of seeing those two interact; they were just too funny!

 

While Sora had spoken to him, Roxas managed to push himself up on the ledge of the pool, getting out. He felt the water drip from his swimtrunks, but he grabbed onto Sora's shoulders nonetheless. "Nope. This is," he said with a smirk, before throwing his weight into Sora, toward the pool, knowing he was going to go in with him.

Amidst her laughter, Kairi managed a small scream as the boys came toward them again. These two... Boys really would be boys.

 

"Ah!" Sora cried, trying to get away from Roxas. But he was already in the air. He shut his eyes and took in a breath before he impacted the water, creating a great splash.

Namine giggled and felt the wave push her back two steps, the girl turning her head to keep the water out of her eyes. She laughed even harder, realizing just how comic this situation really was.

 

Kairi had turned her head, but felt the water hit her regardless. She laughed, having seen the two boys' faces before they met the water; they had been completely opposite--Roxas with a laughing smile, and Sora with wide eyes.

Roxas came to the surface after a second, immediately laughing once he sucked in a breath. That had been perfect, but so hilarious. He clutched at his stomach in the water, laughter leaving his lips.

 

Sora rose back up to the surface, shaking his head to get the water out of his spiky hair. He heard Kairi and Namine laughing, and he couldn't help but join in. "Okay, we'll call it even at this point," he said through his laughter, a hand coming to his stomach as he continued chuckling.

 

Roxas continued chuckling, opening his eyes to look at his best friend. "You got it," he chimed before breaking into a few chuckles again. He could hear the two girls giggling as well, and he knew today was going to be fun.

Kairi wiped the water from her eyes as she turned to face the two boys again, watching them laugh as her giggles faded. She loved hanging out with everyone together; there were always things like this happening, triggering laughter. That was the best.

 

Namine's laughter started to soften, the girl taking a step over so she'd be right next to Roxas. Today was going to be a good day; she just knew it. It was already off to a great start.

Sora chuckled at his friend's response, the teen bringing up a hand. He ran it over the back of his spikes and then looked around at his friends, the sight of them keeping a smile on his lips.

 

Kairi waded through the water to get closer to her friends. "You two are too competitive," she teased lightly, smiling as she stopped next to Sora. "But at least you provide some laughter, right?"

Roxas looked at Kairi, his chuckles dying out. He glanced at Sora, shrugging with a grin. "I guess so," he said, nudging his best friend lightly.

 

Sora grinned at Kairi and then at Roxas. "Hey, somebody's gotta keep life exciting," he said with a smile. "Might as well have some fun with things, right?"

Namine nodded softly, a smile forming on her lips. She loved Roxas and Sora; they were so laid back together, and whenever they had fun, it was fun for the whole group. She was extremely fortunate to have such great, fun, and loyal friends.

 

Kairi nodded in agreement, smiling softly at Sora and then her blond friends. She was lucky to have them--they really did keep life exciting. The summer so far had been great, and it was because of the three of them. Kairi cherished the relationships she had with Namine, Roxas, and Sora dearly.

Roxas nodded with a smile. He sighed, laying himself back so he was floating on the surface of the water. "Man, this feels good," he breathed, closing his eyes as he used his arms to push him back slightly. Nobody was in the area they were in, not really; most were kids in the shallow end of the pool.

 

Namine smiled softly and then perked up when she heard a lifeguard blow his whistle. Without thought, she turned around to face him. But he wasn't looking at her group; he was scanning over the whole pool.

"Chicken fight starting in the shallow end!" the lifeguard shouted. "Everyone else head someplace else for a little while." And then, just like that, he turned to a person standing beside him while extending a hand, accepting a five dollar bill he was paid to make the announcement.

Sora turned away from the lifeguard before he saw the exchange. "Let's do it!" he said excitedly, a wide smile appearing on his lips. That could be a lot of fun, he thought to himself, barely able to contain his excitement.

 

Roxas tucked his chin to look at Sora, which immediately made him sink. The boy brought his legs down to balance himself, upright again. "What, play chicken?" he asked with an arched eyebrow. Roxas couldn't remember if he had even played the game before.

Kairi heard Roxas's question, but didn't answer. Her eyes were zoned in on the people moving to the shallow end of the pool for the game. Chicken, huh? She'd played it a few times.

 

"Yeah!" Sora confirmed. "C'mon!" he said excitedly, not waiting for Roxas to decide. He grabbed onto Kairi's forearm and started toward the shallow end, a smile on his lips.

Namine chuckled at Sora's behavior; when he got excited about something, he got really excited. Oh well, she thought, smiling. That's part of what made Sora himself.

 

Kairi looked at Sora and followed him automatically. She glanced over her shoulder at her two friends, smiling. Her eyes then focused ahead, on where they were going.

Roxas looked at Namine, shrugging. "You wanna give it a try?" he asked her. It was up to her, really. If she didn't want to participate he would sit next to her on the sidelines, not wanting her to watch alone. But if Namine wanted to play, well, he was all for that too. It didn't matter either way.

 

Namine smiled softly, turning her head to look at Roxas. "Sounds like fun," she said with a slight shrug. She had plaid once or twice, and even though she hadn't been very good, it still had been fun.

Sora reached the side a step before Kairi, his eyes immediately catching onto a few other couples gathering. He also noticed it wasn't too shallow; the water was still a little bit below his shoulders. But that would be better; that way when people started falling it would be less likely for them to get hurt.

 

Kairi came to a stop next to her boyfriend, looking at him before scanning the competition already lining up. They could handle this; they'd done it a few times before, if she remembered correctly.

Roxas nodded with a small smile. "Okay." He took Namine by the hand and silently led her to where the game was to be held.

 

Namine held Roxas' hand lightly and headed over toward the others, only taking a small amount of time to get over to the rest of the group. Other than her and her friends, it looked like there were five other couples. It was a decent sized game, but she was excited to get started.

Sora noticed everyone else starting to get ready, with their partners getting on their shoulders. He turned to Kairi and offered her a smile. "Ready?" he asked, preparing to go under the water so she could easily get on his shoulders.

 

Kairi met Sora's gaze with confidence. She smiled warmly and nodded. "Ready." A part of her was excited for this, even though she hadn't played in a while.

Roxas gave Namine's hand a gentle squeeze. "Ready for this?" he asked her, looking at her. The rest were getting ready. He believed they should too.

 

Sora nodded and released her arm, which he had forgotten to let go of before. He sucked in one last breath before going under, waiting patiently for Kairi to get on his shoulders. It didn't matter how long she took; he could hold his breath for a very long time.

Namine met Roxas' gaze and nodded, a small smile forming on her lips. "Yeah," she responded, mustering her confidence. She was doubtful they'd win, but she'd try her best.

 

Kairi watched Sora go under and then carefully climbed on his shoulders. She prepared to steady herself, but she knew that Sora would have a sturdy hold on her.

Roxas gave Namine one last smile before he sucked in a breath and ducked down under the water. He would wait for Namine to get on his shoulders, and then they'd be ready to start.
