Final Fantasy X: Forgotten Answers

Daichi felt too agitated to sleep. He took up the spot on the tree branch and sat with his back to the trunk.
He decided he would keep watch during the night so the others could get to sleep in peace.

 

Dean sat under a tree, his eyes closing as he couldn't exactly be bothered to move to a tent as Tidus lay on the floor to sleep

Dawn broke as the campsite was stirring and Dean's eyes opened slowly, getting sunlight in his eyes and awakening him from his relaxed state, it was natural to do this as he got up, yawning.

 

Daichi hadn't moved at all, and hadn't gotten any sleep either. He just stayed in the tree.
The activity in the night had been quiet.
He had noticed a few Guado, but they were too far away from the group so there had been no reason to panic.

 

Lukya woke up and kept the hood of her cloak over her head, so any guards from Yevon won't recognize her. Yuna yawned and straightened her hair. Kari and Rikku got up and stretched.

 

Auron opened his eye, he had been leaning against a tree all night "let's be on our way. We wasted enough time"

 

Yuna nodded and led everyone to the Calm Lands, Lukya was silent as she followed. Kari sighed as they headed for the Calm Lands.

 

"The calm lands...
...I remember coming through here after..." painful memories of his sister flashed through his mind...
"...after leaving Gagazet."

We're close...

 

Lukya grabbed his hand and held it, smiling. Yuna looked out at the sea of green, "I think I heard there is a hidden temple here and a cave of fayth around here."

 

Daichi blushed a little at the hand holding, he didn't remove his hand from her grasp though. It felt comforting, but he still blushed.
He'd held her hand before so...
this wasn't a big deal...
right?

He responded to what Yuna said in an attempt to not draw attention to his sudden awkwardness. "I've heard only rumours... but I don't know if they are true... If I'm honest, I didn't stick around here long..."
He'd wanted to gain distance between him and the mountain at the time. This was his first time back in ten years.

 

"Still, we need to get moving." Kari said, walking down with the slope with Rikku. Yuna nodded and followed.

 

Daichi sighed...
He knew it would come down to it eventually. The moment he accepted becoming a Guardian... he knew then that meant they would have to head to Zanarkand eventually. The only way there would be to cross Gagazet.
Gagazet... he wasn't sure if he could face it...
He felt... it wasn't fear. He wasn't sure what it was. But, Gagazet was a place that haunted him because of what it represented to him...
He'd also prefer to stay as far away from the Ronso tribe as much as he could... he felt conflicted..
As a Guardian... he knew he would have to face this though... face them... It wouldn't be easy... but Daichi knew he couldn't run forever... he'd have to face the mountain and the tribe again sooner or later. It was true he had become stronger and gained a lot more since he joined the group... but was it enough?
He'd wanted to return to the mountain when he was ready... ready to prove himself... To be able to bring change to the Ronso tribe and prove them wrong... to show them how much he hated them.
The other thing was... on the climb of the mountain... he'd have to pass where that tragic event happened... an event that had scarred him more than even the years of abuse the Ronso had inflicted on him and his sister.
The site where... he had been saved by Braska's group... the site where he had lost the only person he had ever cared for before now... where he had lost the only family he had ever known...

 

Lukya looked at Daichi and smiled, lowering the hood of her cloak and followed the others. She didn't know why, but even before the event in Macalania, she had always felt safe around Daichi. She couldn't figure it out and sighed.

 

It seems other than these newly awakened feelings around Lukya, Daichi was able to keep his emotions and facial expressions in check. At least about his conflicted-ness of returning to Gagazet.
He was still holding Lukya's hand as they started to move.

It occurred to him... that no one here other than Auron knew the truth about him, excluding his reasons for hating the Ronso.
Kimahri probably at least knew how he and Luna had been treated on the mountain and knew in conclusion about Luna's demise...
And Yuna probably only knew vague details from Kimahri and anything her father might have left.

...Should he tell them...
No... not now... it wasn't the time.
If he was going to... he would do so later.
They probably had a right to know. He knew that.
After all... his return to the mountain would only serve to complicate things further with the Ronso tribe there.. and that in turn would effect everyone's journey.
Also... as his friends... that meant they had a right to know. What drove him... to do what he does. How he got to where he was before they met him...
But not now... he'd wait for the time being.

 

Kari and Rikku managed to catch some chocobos for the group. Rikku, as to tease Daichi, told him that he and Lukya had ride one together. Kari sighed and got on her chocobos. Yuna got on her chocobo and smiled. Lukya's face became deep red.

 

Daichi also felt his face become deep red. His worries about Gagazet quickly vanishing from this distraction.
"...Tch." He then had an idea. If he was going to be dragged down this path of blush-ness, he wouldn't let him and Lukya go alone. It's clear this playful/witty side of him that was about to show resulted from his being around both Tidus and Rikku, maybe with a bit of Dean's wittiness.
He took a deep breath to calm himself and to allow the red-ness on his face to die down.
Then he announced; "Fine. But you have to share a Chocobo with Dean, Rikku."
He got on a Chocobo and held out a hand to help Lukya up, all the while he stared at Rikku with a bit of friendly defiance on his face.

Sorry Dean, for dragging you into this too, but I owe you anyway for that laugh outburst you had yesterday. Daichi thought to himself.

 

Lukya took his hand and got on the Chocobo. Rikku shrugged her shoulders and got on the same chocobo Dean was riding. "Are you sure about letting Rikku and Dean ride together?" Lukya whispered to him.

 

"Both Rikku and Dean shouldn't be the only ones allowed to tease, don't you think?" he said whispering back to her with a slight smile on his face.

He had been able to read Dean's expression last night in the camp thanks to Tidus's witty retort to Dean's laughter.
Dean was, if nothing else, at least smitten with Rikku.
It was as plain for him to read; as it had been to read Kari's and Ryo's feelings for each other, as well as Tidus and Yuna's.

OOC//side-note:
Ironically, the only feelings he is unable to read properly are his own, or Lukya's.

 

Dean mumbled soemthing along the lines of getting payback on Daichi within his mind, nevertheless, he pulled on the reins and rode with Rikku on the back towards Gagazet.

Tidus ridden his Chocobo with Yuna, strangely, he had a talent for this kind of thing and found it relatively easy, after all, it couldn't be hard as Wakka did have some trouble but Lulu managed to aid him, Kimarhi just rode his calmly as if it were natural.

 

Yuna held onto him tightly as she rode with Tidus, she smiled, "I didn't know you were so good." Lukya smiled and wrapped her arms around Daichi's chest to hold on, her face deep red. Rikku put her arms around Dean and smiled. Kari rode behind everyone, covering the rear.

 

Daichi controlled the Chocobo with ease.
He felt Lukya wrap her arms around his chest to hold on and he couldn't help but blush... again..
A small comfort came from the fact that at least she couldn't see his face like this.
