Yeah, I knew that argument was going to be brought up about the Pro Bending supposed to be a show, but I don't really know how to explain that one so well. Like, ideally, they'll just do the matches quickly and efficiently, but logically they still want people to watch and fund the sport, so they might try to do more fancy bending.

I dunno, perhaps later in the show, if they decide to take a darker road, they can have like, underground cage matches with unrestricted bending, like a Fight Club or something? Unlikely, but whatevs

That idea is so interesting and good that I won't be surprised if it actually happens lol.

So I think you're looking at it more from the participant's perspective than I am here. But it's like this: A real fight requires real power and efficiency but making something into a sport removes that. The individual people may want to win as fast as they can, but the rules of the thing are designed to make that impossible. That's why the most effective and decisive moves are banned and why they set it up into a territory contest rather than a free for all. That's why the fights drag on, not because anyone's thinking they have to put on a show as they fight but because the rules make the spectacle. So you're right, but not in the way I'm talking about, if that makes sense.

It's still a show for kids so I can't see that being much of a possibilty.

Would someone like to explain the appeal of that show to me? I have no clue what it's about and why it's good.

Why don't you watch the show and formulate your own reason for watching it?

The only thing that I thought was lame in the show was how the earth benders literally hurl stones in the Pro bending arena. I understand why they made it that way, but it's still kind of lame. I get that it's not the perfect show, but I still enjoy it for all of it's faults and strengths. I think that the characters are cute and I like the chemistry between all of them. I'm trying not to compare Bolin to Sokka because they are different characters, and it isn't fair to compare everyone from the new show to the old show. It's like how Final Fantasy fans compare every Final Fantasy to VII. You're not even giving yourself a chance to like it if you're expecting the old team avatar. I mean the analogy is kind of stretching it, but you can see my point. I know it's a continuation of the original avatar, but if they made Korra like Aang and Bolin like Sokka and Mako like Katara etc that would just be boring. It would just be the same thing all over again, and I like what they're doing with it.

tl;dr: I like Korra and stuff
