First Fall of Crimson Snow

Elsie took in a quiet breath, shaking her head slightly. "No... there's only a handful of us. But we do what we can to help. If we have to sacrifice ourselves for your kind, then we will." Elsie looked over at Scott, smiling ever so slightly. "It's our duty as Peaceful Warriors. We want this to end as much as you do." Elsie then looked away from Scott, looking up at the sky. The clouds covered the sky still, so there weren't any stars to see tonight. But she could see a faint light in the distance of the sky where the city resided.

 

With a messenger bad slung over her shoulder, Ren headed into the forest. It didn't take long for the smell of the smoke to reach Ren. Along the way to the source of this smell and upon reaching it, Ren had remained close to the ground and in the shadows.

It was obvious that the fight had ended a while ago, and judging by the pace of which she traveled to the location Ren assumed that the mutamt kids had cleared out, for the time being anyway. Knowing that the people that had fought here were mutant kids and most likely people from her side, someone might still be around. She climbed up a tree, a better suited location for her, and scanned the area while walking along the branches.

 

Clay was poking around the bushes, trying to find a trail to follow. He waited until the area was clear before he decided to venture out again. All those kids ganging up on him... and then that rebel. It was almost too overwhelming. The rebel shot at him, but didn't shoot him. 'Interesting...' Unaware that another comrade was there to look over the area, Clay continued to search. Then suddenly, he spotted something. It was faint, but there was a thin trail of broken twigs and fallen leafs. He cocked an eyebrow and stepped towards the trail, looking at it. 'Could it be...?'

"Hey, just cause I said that doesn't mean we give up so easily." Elsie stuffed her hands in her pocket, and let out a low whistle. "We fight for you guys... because we know its wrong what the RNA are doing. I may be just a kid still and maybe not mature like some people think, but I believe its the right thing to do, and that's all that matters. Heck, I'd know I'd want someone on my side if I was in your shoes. Being used as weapon of war... doesn't sound like my ideal thing." Elsie looked down at the ground, suddenly becoming interested in it. She kicked at a small pebble and watched it skid across the ground. Then she relaxed her shoulders and huffed out, sending a small cloud into the cloud air. "If the Special Forces don't want us, then why join up? Right?"

 

Vaugn nodded. "Yes I am." He smled and an took her hand as he started to wak out the door. "So...where are we gong?" he asked looking back at her. His smile was wide and happy.

 

Ren had walked along the branches as if she were walking on the ground below. The woods were definetly her comfrot zone, the place where she was sure of herself the most.

The branch five feet above Clay was a strudy one that did not sway and was silent as she. It was a rare oppurtinity, a chance to scare and trick one of her own, as well as doing something that was needed. She needed to know if he was still on their side, knowing that even one like herself, a once loyal and never questioning dog, could have second thoughts.

She jumped down, pulling out a knife from her sleeve as she fell. She landed behind Clay, knife drawn and in a defensive stance. With one movement she could have the knife at his throat but at the last second she had changed her mind about the little prank. "State your name and comanding officer."

 

Clay whirled around, startled by the sudden thud and then the voice behind him. In fact, he whipped out his pistol and aimed, ready to fire once he saw them. When he did, his eyes widen slightly and he lowered his gun, watching the girl in front of him. "Clay Collins, member of the Stealth Squad, First Class..."

Elsie yawned out and pulled her hands out of her pockets, stretching once again and felt the sleepiness overwhelm her. "Yeah, I guess I should head to bed now." Elsie then grinned up at Scott, looking at him closely. "You know, you're one interesting person. And you're wrong; we are hunted." Elsie then twirled away from Scott, walking away from him and back to the buildings. But not where everyone else was. That was the medic building. She was heading to a different set of buildings.[/QUOTE]

 

Ren lowered her knife. "Oh... It's you." She sighed and replaced her knife in her sleeve. Ren walked in front of Clay and avoided looking at him. She examined the trails cloesly and then stood straight. "Right then, two is better than one, since we'll surely be outnumbered." She stated and she headed down the trail the mutants had left behind. "Coming along?" She asked over her shoulder, not waiting for him.

 

Sinder smiled at him as he took her hand,

"We are going to the best reastaurant in town.

I forget what they call it, but it's no big deal since I know where it is."

She looked at him.

"Hide anything that gives you away as a mutant.

You also have to jump on my back.

I have to carry you there, it's much faster than walking."

 

Clay frowned slightly when the girl started to walk off. Well it was normal for everyone to treat each other like that. He didn't mind. He put his gun away and followed after Ren, moving along quietly as he followed.

 

Vauhgn shrugged. "My jacket alreayd hides my tail, I think I'm good." He said as he pulld the jacket tighter to make sure it was hding his tail well. "Yep, I'm ready!" He said he he climbed o Sinder's back.

 

Kendra was have a fitful sleep, tossing and turning quietly in her cot. The truth was, she was stuck in nightmare mode and sleep mode. The combo was usual for Kendra, but she never had gotten use to it. Suddenly, Kendra's eyes snapped open and she sat up while gasping. She almost forgot where she was and quickly looked around. Kendra panted quietly, bringing a shaky hand to her hair and ran her fingers through it. 'You're okay... you're okay...'

Kendra gulped, pulling the blanket around her. She was wide awake now and probably wouldn't be able to go back to sleep. The girl shut her eyes tightly, trying to get the dream out of her head, but it was still there; replaying through her mind over and over again. And then... the feeling of suffocating overwhelmed her. Frustrated, Kendra huffed out as quietly as possible and stood up, going over to the door for some fresh air. Maybe it would clear her senses. She opened the door, ever so quietly, and slipped out. The night air pricked at her skin, sending goosebumps up her arms. But she didn't mind. It felt nice to her. However, she did pull the blanket tighter around her.

 

Kendra was startled by Scott's voice and nearly jumped. She took in a deep breath and touched her heart, trying to calm down again. "You scared me," she said quietly. She wrapped the blanket tighter around her, looking away from Scott. Would he care? Nobody really cared about nightmares and dreams at a time like this. She had to remember that. "I just couldn't sleep..." That sounded good enough to Kendra. She was telling the half-truth and not a complete lie.

Elsie hummed quietly to herself as she fiddled with the cup of instant ramen in the kitchen area. Instant food was her main diet, with the occasional healthy stuff. But that was rare... since supplies were hard to come by. She pulled off of the lid ontop of the cup of ramen and set it on the counter. Then she fetched the kettle with warm water in it and poured some in the cup. "With all the perservatives, I might live a few extra years." Elsie chuckled at her own joke and set the kettle back on the stove. She then quickly covered the ramen with the lid and bent over towards the ramen. She rested her arms on the counter, and then her chin ontop of her arms, watching the cup intently. She had nothing better to do.

 

Alyssia turned on her other side, hearing the door open and close. She sat up and looked around the room, not seeing Kendra. Did she leave? Alyssia sighed, bringing her knees up to her chest and lowering her head. Today has been on hell of a day. She was tired, but she couldn't sleep herself. Just the thought of the Special Force finding them here scared her. Maybe I can scare them with my shockwaves. She chuckled at the thought, finding it rather ridiculous. Even though it's not normal to meet someone who can make shockwaves, she was still hesitant and afraid of using them. She stared at the wall in front of her, blinking every now and then. It felt as though several minutes had passed when it was really only a couple of seconds. Frustrated, she rolled out of the cot and quietly, yet quickly, left the room. I guess I'll just look around this place.

 

Kendra blinked in surprise when Scott touched her forehead, wondering what he did that for. Then listening to him, she knew. She sighed out quietly, looking down. "Just a bad dream that always come up every night or so," she said, keeping her voice low. "There's nothing else to it..."
