First Fall of Crimson Snow

Elsie smiled, glad that Seth wasn't mad at her or anything. Even though her body hurt so much, her mind was on a mental track that she was just fine. A little stiff, but she was okay... In fact though, she really wasn't. She kept her arms straight, trying not to bend them in any way. The cut that cut the skin of her forehead was covered by her bangs. That one stung the most out of all of them. Instead of her sleeveless shirt that showed her stomach, she wore a sleeveless shirt but it covered her stomach. The bandages on her arms reached up to where the sleeves ended. She also wore longer pants that also reached down to the bandages on her leg. So many cuts and wounds but Elsie wasn't one to complain, especially with all the things they needed to do.

Elsie looked up through the leaves of the trees as a wind picked up. The wind was crisp, but it wasn't too cold. Still, it made Elsie shiver. The air smelled thick with rain, and also a little electricity. "There's probably going to be a thunderstorm," Elsie said with a grin. "Good, it'll keep the RNA busy so they can't look for us so quickly..." Spying something at the corner of her eye, Elsie stopped walking and crouched down to have a look at the plant. She winced slightly from bending her legs, but she quickly recovered. She put her fingers underneath one of the leaves and studied it for a while. Finally, she came to a conclusion of what it was. "Catnip... It helps with fevers and it helps alleviate childhood sicknesses. Even though we don't have younger kids, this can still come in handy." Being super careful, Elsie harvested the plant and set it directly in a plastic baggy within her knapsack. Not seeing any other herbs that could be useful, Elsie stood up and looked around.

"The forest is on our side. Heh, I know, funny thing to think about... but it's true. If we get lost, all we have to do is think about home, and we're there. No matter how many turns we make, we always end up where we first begain our journey. For the enemies, it works opposite on them. They get lost... sometimes they never make it back out. Guess the forest let the other people get inside so we can see how much we need to train and work on our abilities..." Elsie looked at the ground, breathing out through her nose. Her head snapped up, and she flashed an embarrassing smile at Seth. "Oops, looks like I was rambling again. Sorry about that."

Elsie pulled the shoulder strap of the knapsack carefully over her shoulder, and then walked forward to find more herbs. "Come on little guys... where are you? You're around here somewhere, I just know it."

Rowan watched Drake leave and sighed out once again. The RNA... A new haven, a perfect world. 'What a lie.'

Seeing that Fay walked into the room, she was about to say hello to her when Fay spoke up about the girl. "Oh crap. I almost forgot." Rowan stood up from the table and made her way over to the kitchen counter. There was left over lunch, or dinner, what ever they wanted to call it, covered with a bowl to keep the heat in. It was still pretty warm when Rowan picked it up. "Well, we can't leave our prisoner to starve. Plus, we don't have scraps just yet." Rowan winked at her commrade and then remembered something else. "Hey, could you help Drake out when you get the chance? I asked him to give the kids a training lesson, and I'm sure you can help. Think about it." Rowan walked out of the room and to the hallway. She nudged the wall in a special place again, and the wood slide open. As soon as Rowan walked down the stairs, it closed behind her.

Moments later, Rowan walked down the dark, dim-litted hallway to the prison cells. At least it wasn't completely dark down here, other wise one might go insane from how dark it could be down here. She made it to the cell and faced it completely. It was surging with painful electricity waves... Rowan looked inside, seeing if she could spot the girl within.

Kendra saw a little movement from the corner of her eye as Scott swung her back and forth and brought her head to look at the figure. It was... If she remembered, Alyssia. She seemed pretty content. Kendra figured now would be the perfect time to get to know her better. Smirking at Scott, she suddenly pushed off the swing and extended her wings out to catch herself. Lightly landing on the ground, she stood up and walked over to Alyssia. "Hey there..."

 

Fay chuckled, raising her head to watch Rowan go to the kitchen counter. Of all people, I didn't think she'd forget about that kid. The young woman sighed, turning away when she heard Rowan's request. "Alright. I have nothing else better to do," she muttered, walking over to the door. She opened it and walked out, stopping in her tracks when she heard the door close behind her. She placed her hands on her hips and looked up, grinning a little to see the sun out.

Alyssia turned around upon hearing a familiar voice. She smiled at Kendra, turning her body completely to face Kendra. She looked over the girl's shoulder, seeing Scott by the swing. I most likely interrupted something again. "Hey," she calmly said, looking back at Kendra. "Are you doing okay?"

 

Kendra smiled warmly at Alyssia and nodded her head. "Yeah, I'm feeling much better now. Your name is Alyssia... right?" Noticing that Scott didn't follow her, she turned to see him walk off. She waved a hand at him, and yelled, "Hey Scott! Why don't you come over here and hang out with us!" She was happier today... Last night, she saw her situation in a new light and accepted it. Life seemed to be much better now.

 

The dragon-girl was left alone in the forest.

They all left.

It didn't seem that she was of any importantce to them.

As the darkness dissipated into nothingness around her she laid down under a tree.

Her eyelids grew heavy as exhaustion took over.

"Vaughn..."

She dozed off into sleep.

The face of a crying child and a mother standing in front of her burned into Ren's mind. She had gotten rid of this nightmare a while ago, it was just another day in the job after all. But now that she knew the one she left as a lone survivor...

The nightmare continued. Blood dripped from Ren's hands as she breathed heavily. She had just returned to base and was finally alone. A child. It was her first child that young she killed, but not the last. Ren's eyes remained wide open as her head began to spin. The lights began to flash before everything went dark. Alone she stood in utter darkness, but soon a figure appeared before her. "Brother..."

Ren jumped up, awaking from her deep slumber. She took a few minutes to calm down and wiped the cold sweat from her forehead. Soon after someone came down to visit. Luckily she was fully calmed by then. She looked towards the food, but quickly turned her head. Was this person here to torture her with the thought of food?

"Nice to see you haven't left me to rot here." She commented coldly.

 

Rowan smirked, seeing that the girl was up and about. "Yeah, it gets kind of dark and cold down here. Plus, I thought you might be hungry." Rowan went over to the pad and pushed a few buttons. A very small section of the cage opened up, but it was only big enough to slip a plate through. Rowan knelt down and nudged it in the cage. Then the bars went back to where they were suppose to be. "Hope you like rice with gravy, carrots, and a bit of apple. It's not much... but it's all we got for right now." Rowan looked to the side and saw a chair. She was going to be here a while to ask the girl some questions, so she thought, 'Might as well pull up a chair.' Rowan grabbed the head of the chair and turned it so its back was facing towards the RNA member. Rowan sat down on it, and leaned towards the head of the chair. "So... guess we should introduce ourselves, huh? My name is Rowan."

 

OOC: Yeah, I never really quit in the first place. I just needed time to think if I was gonna come back or not.

 

OOC: Hm... well alright then.

 

Seth looked over a Elsie "huh? no you don't have to apologies over something like that. What you said just now sounds pretty poetic... or at least that's what I think poetry sounds like?" Seth said with his arms crossed as he looked around for anything that looked liked a useful herb. Being taken away by the RNA at such a young age he didn't really know what poetry was and he definitely did not hear anything similar to poetry in the camps he was kept

Drake sighed as he walked outside I wonder where they went Drake thought to himself as he walked, but it didn't take long to find. As he walked towards them he noticed how much they were enjoying themselves and began to ponder if he should interrupt them about training

 

Alyssia turned her attention back towards Scott, watching him walk towards her and Kendra. "Yes," she said, looking back at the girl that had approached her. "My name's Alyssia. Yours is Kendra, correct? I don't think we've ever really spoken before until now." Alyssia chuckled as she raised her hand to rub the back of her head.

Fay looked around the area, wondering where Drake on gone but it didn't take her long to spot him. She walked towards him, seeing the children not too far away from them. As soon as she reached Drake, she lightly tapped Drake's shoulder, her eyes on the mutant children. "Rowan told me to help you train them," she plainly stated.

 

Ren moved the plate closer to her, feeling too awkward to eat in front of the enemy, who appeared like she was going to be here for a while... 'Cold food is better than no food... Ren thought plainly. "Polite captor," she muttered, "Name's Ren." There was no need to lie after all, and she didn't feel threatened, so time to play nice.

 

Elsie turned to look at Seth with a raised eyebrow. "Huh? Me? Poetic?" She giggled and shook her head. "Nah, just my deep thoughts speaking out. Doesn't that ever happen to you? You just have a random thought you just have to share sometimes?" Elsie grinned from ear to ear and then swivled her head to the right. Her eyes suddenly widened and she quickly walked over to a patch of tiny white flowers. "Hey, these should come in handy. These are Chamomile Flowers," she said to Seth while looking back at him and pointing at the flowers. "They help relax your nerves, and they help you sleep. This could come in handy tonight. There's some more that way." Elsie pointed to another patch that wasn't too far away from them. "Can you gather some up for me while I work on this group?"

Seeing that Scott was with them now, Kendra turned her attention back to Alyssia. "Yeah, too many things were happening at once to really talk." Kendra tucked her hands behind her back, wondering what to say. She really didn't know what to do around people, because she had been isolated all her life... She decided to just give it a go. She glanced up at the sky, seeing big fluffy dark clouds rolling in. "Hm... looks like there's going to be another storm..."

"Nice to meet you, Ren..." Rowan studied her for a moment. She wasn't telling a lie, she could see that. Interrogating people was a lot harder than Rowan thought. "Listen... I don't like you to be in there as much as you don't want to be in there... But we have to be sure we can trust you. Do you mind if I ask you a few questions?" Well, that was a stab at the problem. Was she being too open? 'Just go with the flow...'

 

Ren tilted her had and reached out for the bars. Her fingers did not touch them but she could still feel the static. It coarsed through her body, reminding her that she was in fact awake and still alive. Her eyes were blank as she did this. "Hmm... Such a kind person." She said, being more clear now then her previous mummer. She turned herself so she no longer leaned against the wall and picked at her food. "Ask away."

 

Seth nodded "Sure" Seth said and keeled down and began to pick the flowers that she instructed to pick "sharing random thoughts with others...nah it has never happened to me. After all I never had anybody to share any of my thought to anyways" Seth said calmly as if what he said was no bother to him at all.

Drake sighed as he closed his eye "well that's a relief I may need your help to deal with these kids" Drake said calmly as he walked towards the mutant kids. I think its time you guys head on inside unless you guys want to be stuck in this storm. If you guys are willing, me and Fay are willing to train you" Drake said to them

Elsie smiled sadly as she picked at the flowers and put the good ones in her knapsack. "That's not true... even when you're alone, there's someone watching out for you. Like... invisible people. Some people call them imaginary friends, other people call them guardian angels. Even if we feel utterly alone, we're not. So maybe you shared your thoughts to the walls, and they happened to listen. Or your concious heard your thoughts." Elsie smiled softly, secretly hoping that Seth didn't mind her optimisticness. She spotted some magenta flowers not too far away from the white ones and picked them as well. They were herbs as well.

Her attention was dragged away from the group to Drake. She figured that maybe he was kidding about getting struck by lightning... but the training? Kendra stood there, not sure what to say to him exactly. "Training...?"

Rowan frowned slightly as she watched Ren. Who knew how stable she was... "First question then... why are you apart the RNA's army?"
