First Fall of Crimson Snow

Elsie felt herself being moved around again, just as she was just catching her breath. She grunted in pain, to tired and too out of breath to really scream as she was whipped around. What was happening now? This was getting tiring to her. What was she to do? She felt like she had to do something, but she couldn't. She felt like a rag doll.

A frown crossed Clay's lips as he saw that Luke was in a hold up. He crouched low to the ground with the bird girl close by and breathed out frustratingly. "Come on... let's go... let's go..." The longer they waited, the harder it was going to be for them to get away with what they had.

Alyssia stretched out her hand, now pointing the palm of her hand towards Luke, causing the shockwave to briefly move to her palm before being fired when she saw Luke spin around. Her eyes lowered when she saw his leg head towards her direction. Quickly, she lowered her arms to guard her stomach, but soon felt the man's leg make contact with her. She yelped out in pain as she stumbled back, one arm wrapped around her stomach. The pain was familiar. She had been "punished" that way a lot when she lived with her parents. However, whether it was familiar or not, it still hurt. The blow was almost the same when her father would kick her, just slightly more harder. She dropped down on one knee, keeping her eyes on Luke. She was now finally realizing heading towards the RNA member by herself was the worst idea she had so far. I should have thought before moving.

 

Clay stood up to attention as soon as he saw his commander walk through the bushes with the two hostages. "You made it back," Clay simply commented. He then looked down at Kendra and nudged her shoulder with the toe of his boot. "I got one as well. She was easy to get." Without saying another word, Clay picked her up and swung her over his shoulders. Since he tied her wings were in the way, Clay tied her hands with the same rope he used to bind the wings. So her back was laying on Clay's shoulder, her hair dangling down.

Kendra didn't even stir when Clay hoisted her on his shoulders. It almost looked like she wasn't breathing, and her skin was very pale. She wasn't dead, she just looked like it. She was almost like Juliet when she drank the preacher's potion to fake her death so she could be with Romeo. But she wasn't trying to fake it... She was trapped in a world of darkness, not aware of her current state at the moment.

Elsie hung her head as Luke shoved her along and then when she heard another voice she looked up to see who it was. It was the boy she shot at last night, the one she scared off. He had... She gasped, seeing the girl. "Kendra..." Elsie whispered with disbelief.

 

"Snip her wings off? Tsk, did she get you mad?" Feeling the wings against his shoulder made him uncomfortable, so he adjusted her so that her stomach was now resting on his shoulder. "She's bulky... anyways, let's get going." Clay looked at Scott, seeing that he was a bit more alert than before. "Do you want to borrow my tranquilizer?" Clay asked Luke quietly. "Or do you wish to toy with his mind?"

Elsie looked over at Scott, seeing that he was focused on something but she didn't know what. She then looked back at Kendra, watching her carefully. Her skin looked different... almost a pasty color. Elsie felt her stomach drop. She wasn't dead, right?

 

As soon as Elsie was released she rolled out of the way and went to grab her gun, but it wasn't there. 'That's right,' she thought, 'I dropped it.' Elsie clutched at her swore arm, looking up to see what was happening. Obviously, she couldn't run. She was a sitting duck.

Clay reacted quickly and held Kendra in his arms. He produced a knife from his back pocket and held it against Kendra's neck. "One move, mutant, and your little friend here will be spilling crimson. Or perhaps she's already dead." Clay smirked quietly while holding the blade against the girl's neck. He could barely feel a pulse through his blade. "Have you noticed yet? Or are you just ignorant. Her skin is not the same color, her chest isn't moving... does that tell you something?" Clay kept his position, watching Scott very closely. This kid had very special powers, and it was unpredictable what he was going to do next. He pressed the knife tighter to the mutant's throat, barely pressing the blade within her skin. He might as well toy with the male mutant's mind. He was bound to do something stupid, and then Luke would have the upperhand again.

 

Clay wasn't prepared for that one. His mouth opened wide with a silent scream, sending droplets of spit to mix with the rain. He felt his back crack, but it wasn't broken. It was just very painful. The attack made him let go of the bird girl, sending her to fall in a crumbled heap. Never before had Clay had a direct hit like that one before. This kid was fast. He pulled a new ability on him. 'How did this happen...?'

Elsie stood on her feet as fast as she could, but then the blood rushed to her head and she wavered a bit. Before she fell to the side, a gentle arm caught her and held her steady.

"Easy there, little one." Rowan's voice was warm, but firm. She finally had found them, but right when Scott was in a middle of the fight. She came just in time to see his burst of power, and was amazed. But there wasn't time to gawk. Rowan quickly picked up Elsie, holding her in her arms, and then started to head back towards the others as silently as possible. She figured Fay or Drake would catch up eventually and help Scott out with Kendra.

 

"Rowan" Drake yelled as he jumped out of the tree and landed in front of them "what happened to the enemy" Drake said calmly wondering what happened since he hard a commotion up ahead

"sorry guys I cant go on..it hurts too much" Seth muttered as he he clenched his chest and tried to head back to the cabin, his arms were glowing

 

"The enemy is still somewhat standing," Rowan said quietly to Drake. She looked back to where Scott was and narrowed her eyes. "Scott's fighting them right now. I think he got rid of the younger boy. I'm not so sure about the male though." She then looked at Drake, and then behind her. "Where's Fay and Alyssia? Are they alright?"

Elsie stayed quiet in Rowan's arms, cradling her own injured arm. It felt pulled, and the blood from the broken stitches were starting to seep through her coat. She just stared at it, too tired to do anything.

Kendra was totally relaxed in Scott's arm, not even fluttering an eyelid. She was very still, almost like there was no life in her. Her skin was somewhat cold to the touch, but there was a bit of warmth in there.

Clay was on the ground, coughing and gagging as he was trying to regain his composure. His back burned, his lungs had trouble getting enough oxygen in his system. 'He barely missed the bone,' Clay thought. He collasped on the ground, trying to let the strength seep back in. Luke was going to play mind games with the little boy now. This would prove to be interesting.

 

Clay laid there on the ground, letting the rain fall on him. He listened to what Luke was saying to Scott, and what Scott was saying to Luke. If he didn't know better, he would think the boy would break under the pressure eventually. He noticed that he acted differently as well. With his closest friend down, he was easy to talk to. It was like the mutant bird held the mutant boy in reality and what was important. With her out of the picture, he was lost and confused. So maybe they won the battle this time... in a different way.

 

"they should be alright I'm pretty sure they are fine" Drake said looking over at Rowan "take Elsie back. I will go help Scott and lead him back to the cabin and then look for Alyssia and Fay" Drake said as he started running towards where Scott was. Once he saw Scott up ahead he walked up to him "I'm glad to see your safe" Drake said and looked at Kendra "lets hurry up and get her back inside the cabin" Drake said

 

Fay moved towards the direction she had seen Alyssia gone off to. The smoke was beginning to clear, making it a lot more easier for her to see things. Finally, she saw someone on their knees, quickly realizing it was Alyssia. Quickly, Fay ran forward, placing her hand on Alyssia's back to see she was okay. She had no wounds, but the girl had her arms wrapped around her stomach, making Fay figure she had been hit there. The woman raised her head and looked around, seeing nobody else was around. They probably went after the RNA member.

After talking with Drake, Rowan was already walking through the forest towards home. She saw two figures ahead of her and smiled. It was Alyssia and Fay. "Hey you two, are you alright?" Rowan stopped walking with Elsie in her arms and held her while looking the two over. She could see that Alyssia was clutching her stomach, and wondered if she got hurt in some way. She held Elsie in her arms, beind careful to not move her too much. "Should we head back then? Drake went to go get Scott and Kendra."

Clay let Luke help him up. His back ached, but he was just going to have to deal with it. He started walking along side Luke, staring at the ground as they walked.

Kendra didn't make any movement when Scott spoke to her. She stayed still as ever.
