From the Ashes: The Fight for Utopia

Skylight was very confused. Hovering, she moved out of the shadows, in plain view. Her wings beat up and down to keep her in the air. "H-How're you doing that...?" She asked them.

 

"No" answered a voice from behind the guards.

"I say we hunt him down and have him tortured infront of the populous, all for the sake of maintaining law, wouldn't you say?"

The man smiled, squinthing his red rimmed eyes to display a guise of innocence and truth about his statement. This was so fun! He hadn't gotten to maul a self righteous fool in ages.

In a flash, he bolted down the narrow alleyways, scaring the dirtied stone walled whith his steel claws.

Partly from fear, partly of duty, but mostly for their own bloodlust the soldiers followed their lieutenant, acking for the fight they were about to have.

 

The High Mages could no longer hear her... could no longer hear anything. Perhaps it was best. For if they could see her, they would be forced to see the thing below them. For even they had no idea what it was. They were just following orders. They would have even continued to follow orders even if they knew. Not because they wanted to, but because they had to. Once you served the Void King, your fate belonged to the abyss.

The creature was humanoid, but appeared to be made of multiple zippers and scarred across the backside of the creature was the word "Void". The creature seemed to use what appeared to serve as it's arm and unzipped the mouth. Insects and other creatures seemed to crawl and fall out of it, but it did not seem to mind. No, that only seemed to rejuvinate it.

Turning to what seemed to be directly to Skylight, it shuddered once before saying in low bouncing tones, "I know that you are out there. Come, I will give you a warrior's death. If you defeat me, by my dying breath I shall give you the key to your destiny. Come now, I won't bite. Not while you're alive, anyway. I haven't tasted human flesh in so long..."

 

SkyLight paniced and backed away. "I-I'm not here to fight! This is my home! Please, tell me where you came from and how you got here...." She stopped. Key to her Destiny...?

 

"Why dear child, I came from that circle! You were watching, weren't you? Maybe this will teach you not to meddle in other people's buisness," the creature ended these words just as he bgan to slowly advance in her direction. He was in no hurry. Raw emotion flavored meat, from his experience. Oh, he could already taste her. It had been so, so long since his last taste. He could still remember it, though, and he began to drool more creatures from his mouth's zipper. They crawled over him and fell to the floor, the ones that fell advancing to Skylight with him.

 

SkyLight eye's widened. Looking at the circle, she thought fast. "I mean no harm! But if you want some.... THEN TRY AND CATCH ME!!!" She flew as fast as she could, towards the circle.

 

The creature spread it's arms wide, as if preparing to give her a big hug. The zippers on his arms began to zip open and shut, as if they too wanted in on it. He had zippers all over his body, therefore his whole body reaked with hunger and anticipation.

 

SkyLight flew over him, skimming against his arms. Her dress ripped along the bottom but that was it. Flying downwards, she headed to the circle and disappeared through it.

 

The creature would not give up easily. While she had done this, one of the zippers had been open and she had gotten small insect-like creatures upon her. They were few, but they would do for the creature's purpose. The insects seemed to shake for a moment with energy, and the voice of the creature said to her through the insects, "You'd really turn your back on your destiny? I have the key. The key to your fate, your key to greatness. Your key to escape from this prison."

 

SkyLight lost control of her body. She floated in the darkness, listening to the voice. "My fate...? What is it...?" She asked, staring into the dark.

 

The insects tried to send images to her brain. Pictures of the Seven Dimmensions. The last image was of the Void King's fortress. "Do you see?"the creature seemed to ask, both at Skylight and perhaps itself.

 

SkyLight saw the pictures. "Yes. I do see them." Her eyes shut slowly as she started to retreat into itself. The Darkness tightened its grip on her, working its way into SkyLight.

 

"Then come," the creature spoke out. "If you defeat me, you may speak to the being I call master." The creature let out a visible shudder and prepared itself for the worse.

 

SkyLight smirked. Allowing the darkness into her body, she changed. Coming out of the circle again, she un-furled her wings from around her to show a completely different SkyLight. "Just don't cry when I defeat you." She attacked him with her daggers the second she finished her sentence.

 

The creature sighed with relief as the daggers pierced his body. "Thank you..." The creature did not flinch at pain if he could even feel it, and stood tall. He then extended what could have been a tongue and started to lick the daggers. Not as good as flesh, but to know they had been next to good, fresh meat was good enough for now. Soon there might be a fresher course.

 

SkyLight pulled up, slicing through his body. "You must want to die then."

 

"Death is the dough to the bread I bake. I have let many others feast on it, why should I be unwilling to taste my own work?" the creature would of been smiling if it had a mouth. It had no more blood, long ago it had dried up. Instead, insects and strings used as stuffing fell out.

 

SkyLight cut through his body. Surely, he should die now. "Give me The Key of My Destiny."

 

"Yes." The creature used it's strength and tried to unzip the zipper over the place where his heart should be. When it would not budge, it resorted to clawing his stomach up, and out fell a piece of a mirror with a string so it could be used as a necklace. The body was slowly eaten by the creatures that had served it inside, and those creatures ate each other.

They all avoided the piece of mirror during this, though. The mirror shined, as if imploring Skylight to pick it up or to speak to it.

 

SkyLight picked it up and looked at it. "This is My Key?" She raised an eyebrow.
