KHFM+ and Mod. The best way to go XD I have one and it's bliss being able to get games when they are just out :o

Here's how I see it.

First of all, modchips are absolutely horrible for your PS2. It degrades the laser and shortens its lifespan by a whole lot. If you *have* to mod your PS2, go for Swap Magic or any kind of boot disc to help preserve the laser and your console's warranty. The boot disc itself isn't guaranteed to protect your console from some sort of lifespan deficiency, but it's certainly multiple times more safe than the modchip.

The safest--albeit more expensive--way is to purchase a JP model PS2, although if KH2:FM+ is the *only* import you plan to play then this probably isn't a good choice to make.

Bringing some first year economics just for the hell of it, it depends on how much 'utils' you have for playing KH2:FM+ as quickly as possible. Either you import KH2:FM+ and be up to date with the game's new additions or take a chance and wait around to find news about a confirmed NA/Euro release. If you lack knowledge of the japanese language, it's inevitable that you will miss out on some information while playing KH2:FM+ if you import it (be this from not understanding menus, silent subtitled cutscenes, etc). While you can look around the net for translations and spoilers for stuff you may not have understood, it greatly impairs your enjoyment of the game to some degree.

Once again, that is a price you have to pay if you really find it important to play the game as soon as possible.

On the other hand, if KH2:FM+ *does not* end up being released in NA/Euro, then you probably made a good choice on importing on March 29.

The risk is yours to make. Will you regret paying quite a bit more money (since importing will cost you more because of S&H and custom taxes, not to mention the price for modding your ps2) if the game comes to NA? Or will you not?

I sure made it seem more dramatic than it was supposed to, but that's basically your dilemma.

Anyway, wait for it in the states. That's what I'm gonna do. If it comes out in the States. If it dosen't come out here, import it. That's what I'm gonna do if it doesn't come here. Either way I'm getting it. :)

 

Darky.. Watch out if you plan on preordering FM+ from play-asia. They are quite sneaky >_> I pre-ordered KHII NTSC version from there last year so I could get it the same time as NA. It was £40 ($75) and plus the quick delivery options. After that I got an email saying no more action/payments are needed and just wait for it to arrive. When it got here, however, the post guy refused to hand it over until I paid a delivery charge of £20! ($40/45!?!?) I was like, "WTF? What do you think the special delivery I paid on the website is, dumbass?" So a game I thought I'd be getting cheaper ended up costing me around £70+ T_T and not forgetting the cost of the mod. Bleh. It's a con I say!

 

I'd say wait... unless you speak fluent Japanese, Darky (which if you do, you are even more ownsome than Kadaj :)), you'll end up missing the signifigance of almost all the cutscenes. Unless there IS confirmation that the game won't be released internationally; then I'd follow ロクサス's advice.

By the way, how is "ロクサス" supposed to be pronounced?

Well what i'm going to do is wait to see if it will make a stateside release, but after a while and there is no news i'm going to import it from Japan. But since I already have Swap Magic all I have to do is buy the game, if you plan to import definatly get Swap Magic.
