So like, a girl told you that you are ugly. And you are going to change for her. If she doesn't like you for who you are, she's not worth it. If she was concerned about your health, that's another story. But not going out with you because you've got some juicy love handles is pretty sick.

Hey, seriously now, man (because I'm not tired as feh and watching Torchwood), if you get in shape just for her, that's kinda... not too good.

But you said it's given you an incentive, so that means you were planning to get in shape and are just being lazy like me!!!

Although, I have to go look for a martial arts class tomorrow <3 Then it's back to the bike and finding fencing as well.

I hate to agree with him, but you cannot be sure that she was telling the truth. I am willing to bet that even if you meet her physical standards, she will not date you. She probably said it because she didn't think you would shape up.

Cynics talking, though, so do what you want.

 

Should never change for someone, you adapt to what they are and accept flaws, the fact she's nit picking is a clear cut sign she was just looking for any excuse to get rid of you, you could come back a month as adonis and she will go "buff guys are kinda gross" or some crazy roundabout sentence.

And I'm not saying this to be mean, but to be realistic in the long run.

We try to hang out every weekend. Worst case scenario, she'll notice and then mention that she didn't realize I'd actually get into shape for her and though she's flattered by my dedication, she still has to say no. By that point I'll have tried everything to win her over and have to accept that her being my best friend is closest I'll ever get to dating her. At least I'll have accomplished something for myself along the way.

Males do not have to be as selective because their instincts tell them that the more women they impregnate the better (the better the chances of continuing the line), while females have to choose the best males to mate with in order to pass on good genes. Males can impregnate many women without repercussions while females run the risk of getting pregnant every time they have sex. They have a natural incentive to be selective. This does not mean that they care less about sex, it just means that their standards are bound to be higher by default.
