Have you ever seen anyone over 25 delivering pizzas? I haven't :D. Those jobs are designed for students to take so they can pay for college. Anyone older than student age doing a low-paying service-sector job (pizza delivery, fast food, waiting tables, etc), IMO, is a failure. Factory jobs, as you mentioned, are one way to go, but very few factory workers truly enjoy their lives working in a factory (and good luck finding one that's still in the US... -.-). Also, if you're a manager or higher, you've at least made it somewhere, but still, most of them are just wage slaves chained to their job, and loathing every second of it.

I'm in college now, as I believe I mentioned earlier, going for an Archaeology degree, and couldn't be happier. I'll be doing a job I love every day for the rest of my life, and gettign paid far more than if I didn't have a college education, while also cutting out a lot of the ass-kissing and office politics of corporate jobhood.

ok first things first, most adults (over the age of 24 in my book) have a tendency to become power hungry and overcontrolling because for most of their younger life they are controlled everything they do is monitored and things are enforced on them the outcome is an adult with a few mental issues that have come to be accepted as normal...

being power hungry has become a sign of a good leader/role model and is seen as true ambition nowadays when really its a sign of minor mental problems.

what happens then when these adults become teachers, the kids absolutely despise them is what. This cycle as of right now is unending and has a creeping level of intensity as kids also pick up on things from the actions of the ones teaching them
"this is what it is to be adult" when alot of the time the teacher is no more fit to be considered adult then the very child they are teaching.

Secondly, the idea that kids should be tied down and forced to go through the motions of every class under the sun that they can marginally use logic to make a standard is completely and utterly useless.
I agree with those of you that say we should reinstate apprenticeship people should become more specialized then generalized early on because this in the long run will create better mindsets for their line of work that they choose.

i understand elementary and middle school being a generalized field math english science history yada yada yada...but High school should become the point where they start allowing students to choose their career goals. its only later when they are in college and having to worry about paying for more classes everytime they change their mind that people start second guessing their choices.
