Pretty much this. Like Makaze pointed out in a thread a few weeks ago, making a suggestion thread rarely gets anything done because someone comes in and goes "No we don't do things that way, Locked" and there is no real discussion and PMing doesn't work because the staff member is like "Don't like the decision? Sucks to be you, then."

    I recall that thread.

And I love how none of the other Staff are actually engaging, just lurking. This is what I'm talking about. Come down from your little watchmen tower and talk to us as equals.

Which is why we don't automatically jump to a ban if someone says one thing out of line; if your behavior has been repeatedly breaking the rules, the staff will make it known to you, through post deletions, light verbal warnings, or further if we must go there. We cannot possibly outline every problematic post or situation, nor provide "real forum examples" without involving specific people and specific posts.

The rules really do remain very similar to what they were in the past. If you guys do have specific problems with the rules, either PM me, another staff member, or create a thread in Suggestions; spam isn't really the place for this. I cannot say that we will be making many if any changes to the rules, though; we feel that these are reasonable and clear. If you are so opposed to how the site is lead, we will listen to your complaints, but pleasing everyone is impossible. If you cannot agree to the site's policies, I'm sorry, then perhaps this isn't the place for you.
It's really difficult to reply to things in Spam because posts tend to roll in very quickly, and it's easy to fall behind, which I'm sure you've noticed already with my posts. It being in Suggestions implies that the discussion will be mature and focused; over PM, that every post can be read, listened to, or replied to.
We're always listening to you guys, but as I have said, we cannot please everyone.

As I said, take it to Suggestions. This isn't the place for it. I'm telling you that both myself and the rest of the staff will reply to your concerns, and try to meet you halfway, so long as you grant us the same.

One small step for the members "on thin ice".

Absolutely nothing for the forum as a whole because "WE WILL NOT COMPROMISE" said the oppressors.

I'm getting kind of tired, so I might retire soon, but I'm glad I got thread unlocked at least.

    Wave the colours high.

I really don't get the backlash here, we already had troll and flaming rules. The major rule expansion is more about clarification than actually being new. Trolling rules have been long let slide except for extreme cases because giving members some benoit of the doubt and such. If staff hasn't already talked to you about behavior you're in little danger, but even if it has been brought up to you before it isn't like this is the warning flag of a banning spree.

Also, it is unfair to expect people to become thick skinned to rude comments just as it it's unfair to expect you all to be perfectly polite all the time. But if both sides can reach a middle ground this could end up better for everyone, those that refuse (in both cases) are likely not to have such a good time.

And Makaze, the rules are written with some grey area because we accept that we won't be able to write black and write rules here. First it is a subjective topic, and thus any terminology is open for some debate. Second, we are not exactly qualified to draw the line in the sand. We would have our hands tired to punish people that didn't really deserve it, or not be rightly able to punish someone that should be. This is also good for you guys in a way because you aren't going to be punished immediately for anything but extreme cases, there is a little bit of give to get you on the right track.

Bottom line is that you don't need to like everyone here (god knows there are a few members that get under my skin) but you can still be respectful about it, or even just be a bit tactful so that you aren't disrespectful.

Please don't disregard the effort we've put up in the Rules thread in the Suggestion Section. We spoke for a lot of users and want only staff understanding.

Sorry, that's my bad. Really should have tried to get more up to speed before posting. I had only read this thread at the time I posted that. Wouldn't have posted here at all if I saw the other thread sooner since that its the proper place for it.

Alright, 3 hours later and I'm mostly up to speed. Still haven't read much of the spamzone stuff aside from this thread. I stand by my earlier post, but it is almost all stuff that was in someway stated in the Suggestion forum's thread.
