You know, this guy could have single handedly provided free electrical power to the whole of the continental United States. Why was this project shut down? It was deemed unprofitable. Damn government.
Agreed. Ben Franklin wasn't an inventor. He was a guy who ran down to the patent office whenever one of his employees had a cool idea.
Patents are the bane of progress and free enterprise. That was the worst idea ever. Though Tesla had something like 700 patents by the time he died. I wish they had Creative Commons or something back then.
http://www.stumbleupon.com/su/3PRV36/:10cE3WGIe:d2si+Egr/theoatmeal.com/comics/tesla/ He is my idol. I strive to be like him. Happy Birthday Mr. Tesla.
Just from seeing the words in the OP I assumed this was for me. Happy it's not though, i'd be really worried if it was December already without me noticing.
Dark Matters had an episode about the AC/DC war. They left Tesla completely out of the picture, focusing solely on Edison, but it' s interesting nonetheless. They mentioned this dogs and cats thing, there' s more to the story : They focused another episode on Tesla though :

David Bowie owned that film. And Tesla, Yes he is the most awesome, under appreciated genius, crazy-ass mofo who ever lived. And Edison was a right wanker. It's good the world is finally beginning to see this, it's just sad it's so many years after his death.
