Heavy, Non-Existent Heart

"well.... you've got a good guardian." Marluxia smiled.

Saix glanced at everyone for a moment.

Marluxia could feel Saix's sadness.

"we should go..." Saix opened a portal.

 

Sonata nodded. "Yeah, we should." She walked quietly back to her world and sat by the stone that was picked out for Raiu. She gently stroked it with her hand. "It's OK, Raiu. I'll be fine since I have him by my side."

 

Saix stood close by. he stared at the sun. the day he met Raiu played back in his head.

 

Sonata turned around to see Saix staring at the sun. She got up and walked to him. "You know... she did tell me everything. It seems like... you're devoted to her forever."

 

"i can't keep wandering in the past. i have to look towards the future... and it looks like that future is with you." Saix said as he closed his eyes.

 

"I guess so..." Sonata knew he was lying. He would always love Raiu and be devoted to her forever. She knew that he couldn't feel that way about anybody else.

 

Saix nodded as he continued to stare at the son. Raiu... is this really what you want...? Saix thought as he sighed. i guess so....

 

Sonata stood up and walked towards the path that would lead them towards the town again. "We should probably go." She walked down, not looking at him. Raiu... he loves you, not me. Why did you make him promise to watch over me? I don't recall asking for his help... at all.

 

Saix nodded and took his eyes off of the sun. he started walking back to town. maybe it's possible... he thought as he looked up while he was walking.

 

Sonata was still walking ahead of him but then she saw the same red butterfly... it felt like Raiu was watching over both of them, just to make sure they were getting along.

 

Saix walked a little faster so he could catch up to Sonata. "are you really okay with this...?" he muttered to himself.

 

"Yeah, I'm fine." Sonata was OK with this because she really didn't mind. After all, he was assigned to watch her. "It wasn't me, it was Raiu who told you to look after me. Really it's fine."

 

Saix blinked a few times. "very well then... if you say so..." he slowed down a little so Sonata would pass him.

 

"It's fine really..." But she knew that everything wasn't okay. Was she starting to fall for him just as Raiu did? Sonata knew that wasn't possible because he loved Raiu, now and forever.

 

Saix closed his eyes to hide his tears. he kept an emotionless face as memories of him and Raiu came flooding into his mind.

 

They didn't speak to each other for a long time until they finally reached Sonata's house. She lived alone as well, just like Raiu did when she was alive. It was strange, but Sonata's family wasn't dead. They were off somewhere else. She lead Saix to her room, where she laid on her bed. Next to it was the nightstand, where a photo of her and Raiu stood from a year ago.

 

Saix entered the room and stared at the photo. he started to feel guilty. Raiu... you were better off without me... i shouldn't have come back... you were happy... i messed it up.... forgive me...

 

Sonata saw that he was feeling guilty for her death. She wanted to cheer him up badly. "She still loved you... even though she felt bad about what happened."

 

"she found friends... she found happiness... i love her too... but if i hadn't come back... she'd still be alive..." Saix sighed.

 

Sonata walked up to him and looked out the window. "She may have found friends, but did you know she was never able to forget you? Raiu felt like it was her fault that you had to go."
