    I don't know how to put an image on top of my background. Please help. I am now using GIMP for the first time.

    If you're trying to put a picture you have saved onto the image you are working with, go to File - Open As Layer...

    If you've copied something to your clipboard, just go to Edit - Paste.

    Do this...

    File > Open As Layer

    Then just pick a pic you want.
