Guess who did it first and better?


Voldemort:
Killed Harry's parents.
Wants to live forever.
Is obsessed with a certain boy (Harry) who prepubescent at the start of the series.
Wants to completely master all there is to know about and do with wizardry.
Starts out rational and ends the series totally insane.
Harry is imbued with a piece of his soul.

Orochimaru:
Was probably involved in the murder of the Uchiha clan.
Wants to live forever.
Is obsessed with a certain boy (Sasuke) who may or may not be prepubescent at the start of the series.
Wants to completely master all there is to know about and do with ninjustu.
Starts out rational and is currently totally insane (probably).
Sasuke Uchiha is imbued with a piece of his soul.

To be a fan of a series is to be prepared to deal with haters of the series, you've picked your choice, now suffer for it.

I've been forced to keep up with the manga because of a Naruto fan on my Facebook page.

As it turns out, he's alive and Sasuke is his last horcrux.

 

Isn't he kabutomaru now? I haven't paid attention to the show in quite some time.

 

Again, manga. I'm guessing he somehow figured out how to regain his original form (or something like that). I remember it had something to do with this one manga page I saw in which he was kind of like Doc Ock except with giant snakes.

I like Naruto.

Some people do, some people don't. It's tiring to see people make the argument that there are much better manga out there - and I'm not saying there's not.

It's a bit of a similar situation to Justin Beiber, if you think about it.​

Agreed. I loved Naruto as a kid, but the amount of filler started getting to me. It didn't help that I started with a filler arc expected that to be the whole show. Come to think of it, the same thing happened with Bleach when I got into it this year.

I beg to differ, Voldemort was a boring villain. He was there just to be evil.

 

He also served to provide a backstory for Harry and connect all of the books. Without Voldemort, they'd all just be standalones in the same universe. That said, a lack of Voldemort might have given us the possibility for a Ron centric book which would have been all kinds of ginger awesomeness.

 

Placeholder villains are no villains at all in my opinion.
