My mom's BF texts me often, right? And I didn't know how it even happened but he was texting me one time and I think I might've misspelled something and he called me later saying this:

"Tart (he calls me Tart, from Pop Tart)? You made my day. You called me dad. It made me feel so happy. I even called your mom during my break at work to tell her how happy it made me feel. I'll always be here for you."

And I didn't call him Dad. I would never call him dad. He isn't my dad. My dad may not be here, or around, or taking care of me but my mom's bf is NOT my father and he never will be.

So I don't know how to tell him without breaking his heart. He's rather sensitive.

well, let him know that it was a 'text error' but by the way you two get along, it sounds like he is a father figure.

You should at least tell him that you're happy that you made him happy, but it was an accident.

    good luck Tart :'D

just go with the flow. if it makes him happy, then use that against him....asking for stuff. "dad, can i borrow the car?"

I recommend sticking with the program by calling him "dad". That way you can sort of...keep him happy during the hard times? Hehe.

Well... that's good that he really cares for you. ^^ Just... tell him a little how you feel. Maybe accept his love as a father figure, but not as a real father... If you know what I mean. Sure, he's never going to ever replace your real dad, ever. But let him love you as a daughter. Everyone needs someone like a dad in their lives to get through the rough spots.

And if he acts like a father, he will understand that you aren't going going to ever replace your real dad.

    Good luck.

If it makes him happy, don't shatter the feeling by lashing out at him. Let him know gently.

I think you should just say that it just slipped. that way he'll know that it was accident but at the same time he'll still feel good somewhat because he'll think he is getting that much closer with connecting with you in that way.

well hmm...um...the best advice i could tell you is that be honest with him, just tell him it was an error but be very cautous on this subject
