Only if overdone is the same overdone thing all of the time.

His hair and face were the most recognizable things about him.

    Basically this.

I honestly don't see a problem with that.

I have to agree with Makaze here his actual face and hair are what I recognize since his clothes scream stereotypical English dude which in fact is very common on English television.

He could have done much better. The doctor should have more recognizable features than his hair and a bowtie.

Ten's recognizable bits were the converse, glasses, and hair, imo. Nine the leather jacket and big ears, I suppose. I think bowties and hair fit well in there. I can't speak for Classic Who.

The coat was pretty Tennant. I also thought Eccleston's outfit was too generic.

Quite right. I didn't even think of the shoes until she mentioned them.

    In order:
One: That hat he wore like twice in his entire run, plus his old age.
    Two: Plaid pants, bow tie.
Three: Cravat, ruffly shirt, hair, and sometimes a bow tie. Also the fez and broom from that one episode.
    Four: Mother****ing gigantic multicoloured scarf.
Five: "Look at me, I'm wearing a vegetable!" Also a shirt with question marks on the collar.
Six: Multicoloured jacket. Kept Five's shirt. Red and white polka dot bow tie.
Seven: Scarfy looking thing (I think it's called a pashmina?), question mark themed sweater.
Eight: Cravat, hair. A fez that one time, a top hat that other time (both times are in comics).

They do? I suppose we are known for being posh and wearing suits and weird ties xD

I thought his outfit was perfect, I also think he has quite a good fashion sense outside of DW but that's just me. I thought the outfit worked, personally, because he was quite a cool chap off screen that they put him in something so uncool that it's cool. The Doctor is eccentric and so should dress like it.

I love "Time Crash." Tennant must be the luckiest fanboy in the world.

Be aware I'm arguing with Americans and an American on that point. Most of the British television that makes it over here supports the stereotype so our cultural consciousness is going to be quite different from say an actual UK native.

You are exactly right, I have always found stereotypes quite amusing though :D
