They have the power of a corporation and the incentives of a corporation, but their structure is not quite as hierarchical.

I will not be optimistic about a monopoly ever again. It is not optimism that you deal with there, it is choosing unions for no reason when you already have better alternatives. If I were to be truly optimistic, I would choose to believe that we did not need unions or even private courts if a government was abolished. I would believe that you were not being optimistic enough. To both a cynic and an optimist, you seem to be picking and choosing what to be optimistic about with no reasoning. As you say they can become corporations, I could say, "Corporations can take over societies and screw everyone over. There's always the choice not to. Be a little more optimistic, it's fun."

Why would you choose to replace one monopoly with another other than naïveté?

    May Day? Wtf is that?

When i think of a celebration in May, it's the 4th of May. Star Wars day. May the Fourth be with you.

I wasn't the one who brought up monopolies and corporations. All I said was that I liked the idea behind workers getting together to ensure fair working conditions. If that makes me naïve, well, there's worse names in the world. Good day~

That will almost certainly result in enforced conformity by the union. I have never seen a union not go astray, just as I have never seen a corporation not go astray. They balance each other, but either of them alone is a great evil.

Picking what to be optimistic about when the incentives to go bad are the same for both is naïve, or worse, openly biased.

Yes, it is a good, isn't it...
